THE GOD WHO DISMISSES YOUR CASE WITH MERCY

THE GOD WHO DISMISSES YOUR CASE WITH MERCY

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Psalm 103:8-12 (KJV)
“The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

Supporting Texts: Lamentations 3:22-23, Isaiah 55:7, Micah 7:18-19, Hebrews 4:16, Daniel 9:9

Description: God extends His mercy to forgive, overlook, and release believers from judgment, giving them peace and new beginnings.

INTRODUCTION:
Life presents circumstances where judgment or consequences seem inevitable. Yet God, in His infinite mercy, often dismisses our case before the enemy or even before natural consequences manifest. His mercy does not deny justice; rather, it releases us from condemnation and opens a pathway to restoration.

The mercy of God is both a shield and a release. It removes guilt, frustrates the schemes of the enemy, and provides opportunities for fresh starts. Understanding this divine attribute is crucial to experiencing freedom and confidence in our relationship with Him.

This message will explore how God dismisses our cases with mercy, the principles that invite His mercy, and how believers can walk in the assurance that their failures, attacks, or accusations are covered by His compassionate hand.

1. GOD IS MERCIFUL AND GRACIOUS
God’s mercy is His readiness to forgive, overlook, and act in kindness toward His children.

a) His mercy is abundant – Psalm 103:8
The Lord’s mercy is limitless, available to all who seek Him.

b) Mercy delays judgment – Lamentations 3:22-23
God’s grace often postpones consequences to give us time to repent and recover.

c) Mercy forgives iniquity – Micah 7:18-19
He removes our sins completely, separating us from the penalty.

d) Mercy brings restoration – Isaiah 55:7
God’s compassion restores life, peace, and opportunities previously lost.

Biblical Example: David’s sin with Bathsheba could have ended in severe punishment, but God dismissed his case with mercy, allowing repentance and continued purpose (2 Samuel 12:13).

2. GOD DISMISSES CASES BEFORE THE ENEMY
God intervenes to prevent accusations, attacks, or adversity from prevailing.

a) The Lord defends His people – Psalm 34:17
He hears and acts on behalf of the oppressed, silencing the enemy.

b) Mercy frustrates accusations – Daniel 9:9
God pardons offenses and overrides the claims of opposition.

c) Divine intervention brings peace – Hebrews 4:16
Approaching God’s throne with confidence releases mercy and grace.

d) Mercy shields destiny – Proverbs 16:6
God’s compassion protects life, work, and purpose from harm.

Biblical Example: Joseph’s brothers intended harm, but God dismissed their case through mercy, preserving Joseph and orchestrating his rise to prominence (Genesis 50:19-21).

3. MERCY RESTORES AND REPLACES JUDGMENT
God’s mercy does not leave believers in shame but restores them fully.

a) Restoration is complete – Psalm 103:12
He removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west.

b) Mercy opens new beginnings – Lamentations 3:23
Every day is renewed through God’s mercy, offering fresh opportunities.

c) Mercy surpasses human expectation – Ephesians 2:4-5
It exceeds the limits of what humans may consider fair or deserved.

d) Walking in mercy brings confidence – Romans 8:1
Believers are freed from condemnation and empowered to pursue God’s purpose.

Biblical Example: The prodigal son’s return demonstrates God’s mercy in dismissing the consequences of rebellion, restoring him to honour and position (Luke 15:20-24).

4. POSITIONING FOR GOD’S MERCY
Believers can access God’s mercy through repentance, faith, and humility.

a) Humility attracts mercy – James 4:6
God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

b) Repentance activates divine forgiveness – 1 John 1:9
Confession and turning from sin invite God’s compassionate intervention.

c) Faith secures God’s protection – Hebrews 11:6
Belief in His character positions us to receive mercy and favour.

d) Mercy must be received in obedience – Micah 6:8
Walking in justice, love, and humility ensures continued favour.

Biblical Example: Peter denied Jesus but later received mercy, forgiveness, and restoration to apostolic ministry (John 21:15-17).

God’s mercy is a divine resource that dismisses accusations, protects destiny, and restores honour. Believers can rest in the assurance that He intercedes on their behalf, releasing forgiveness and favour even before the enemy acts.
