By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

DESCRIPTION: To fulfil divine purpose, barriers must be broken because the enemy always tries to resist God’s plan for your life.

INTRODUCTION:
Every child of God has been created for a divine purpose, a heavenly mandate that must be fulfilled on earth. Before you were born, God already ordained your assignment and crafted the details of your destiny. This means that your life has meaning, direction, and divine significance.

However, the enemy of souls does not want you to fulfil your divine purpose. He erects barriers, distractions, and oppositions designed to hinder your progress. These barriers may come in the form of fear, sin, unbelief, satanic opposition, or human resistance. If you must walk in your destiny, you must confront and overcome these barriers.

The good news is that God is the ultimate barrier breaker. He has promised to go before you, level mountains, and cut down gates of iron. No barrier can stop you if you hold on to God. Today, by the power of the Word, every barrier to the fulfilment of your divine purpose shall be broken in Jesus’ name.

1. BARRIERS OF FEAR AND INSECURITY
Fear paralyses and prevents believers from stepping into their God-ordained destiny.

a) Fear cripples destiny (2 Timothy 1:7): God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.

b) Fear magnifies problems (Numbers 13:31-33): The Israelites saw themselves as grasshoppers and missed entering the promised land.

c) Fear hinders obedience (Exodus 3:11): Moses doubted his ability when God called him to lead Israel.

d) Faith conquers fear (Joshua 1:9): God commands His people to be strong and courageous.

Biblical Example: Gideon — Initially fearful, but by God’s assurance he rose to deliver Israel (Judges 6:12-16).

2. BARRIERS OF SIN AND DISOBEDIENCE
Sin disconnects a man from divine purpose and brings delays to destiny.

a) Sin separates from God (Isaiah 59:1-2): Iniquity creates a barrier between God and man.

b) Disobedience aborts purpose (1 Samuel 15:22-23): Saul lost his throne due to disobedience.

c) Hidden sin hinders progress (Joshua 7:1, 11): Achan’s sin brought defeat to Israel.

d) Repentance restores destiny (1 John 1:9): God forgives and cleanses to put you back on track.

Biblical Example: Jonah — Disobeyed God’s call, but repentance redirected him to fulfil purpose (Jonah 2:1-3, 10).

3. BARRIERS OF SATANIC OPPOSITION
The devil always resists believers from fulfilling their divine assignment.

a) Satan hinders progress (1 Thessalonians 2:18): Paul declared that Satan hindered him.

b) The enemy opposes divine purpose (Zechariah 3:1): Satan stood to resist Joshua the high priest.

c) Spiritual warfare is necessary (Ephesians 6:12): We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers.

d) Victory is assured in Christ (Luke 10:19): Believers have authority over the enemy.

Biblical Example: Daniel — The prince of Persia resisted his prayer answer, but through angelic intervention, victory came (Daniel 10:12-13).

4. BARRIERS OF HUMAN OPPOSITION AND ENVY
Sometimes men become instruments of resistance against your destiny.

a) Men can plot against purpose (Genesis 37:19-20): Joseph’s brothers conspired to kill his dream.

b) Human opposition cannot stop God (Psalm 118:6): The Lord is on my side, I will not fear what man can do to me.

c) God uses opposition for promotion (Genesis 50:20): What men meant for evil, God turns for good.

d) Divine favour silences adversaries (Exodus 3:21): God gives His children favour in the sight of men.

Biblical Example: Nehemiah — Faced opposition from Sanballat and Tobiah, yet fulfilled his assignment (Nehemiah 4:1-6).

CONCLUSION:
Barriers are inevitable on the journey of fulfilling divine purpose, but with God, they can all be broken. Fear, sin, satanic resistance, and human opposition may rise against you, but they cannot prevail if God is on your side.

Therefore, stand in faith, live in obedience, engage in prayer and spiritual warfare, and depend on God’s favour. Surely, the God who goes before you will break every barrier, and you shall fulfil your divine purpose gloriously.
