Effective follow-up is a vital aspect of church ministry that helps nurture new believers and strengthen existing members. Following the Great Commission, Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples, which involves not only evangelism but also continual engagement with those who respond to the Gospel. In this study, we will explore the importance of follow-up, the biblical basis for it, and practical steps to implement effective follow-up strategies in the church.
1. THE IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOW-UP
a) Discipleship Mandate:
Follow-up is an integral part of fulfilling the Great Commission, where making disciples means guiding new believers toward spiritual maturity (Matthew 28:19).
b) Building Community:
Regular follow-up fosters a sense of belonging and community within the church, helping individuals feel valued and connected (Acts 2:42-47).
