BORN GREAT BUT TIED DOWN (PART 2)

Title: BORN GREAT BUT TIED DOWN (PART 2)

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text:  Luke 19:30-34
Supporting Texts:  Jeremiah 1:5, Ecclesiastes 10:7, John 11:43-44

INTRODUCTION
In Luke 19:30-34, we see the story of a colt that was tied down, even though it was meant to carry Jesus into Jerusalem. The colt was born for a divine purpose, but until it was untied, it could not fulfill that purpose. This reflects the reality for many of us today—born with greatness and a divine destiny, yet held back by various factors. This sermon explores how to identify the things tying you down and how to experience the freedom to fulfill your God-given greatness.

1. UNDERSTANDING YOUR DIVINE PURPOSE

a) Created with a Destiny
Every believer is born with a divine purpose. Before we were even formed in the womb, God knew us and ordained a plan for our lives (Jeremiah 1:5). Just as the colt was chosen for a specific assignment, you are chosen for a unique and impactful destiny.

b) God's Timing is Perfect
Sometimes, even though we are tied down, it is not the right time for us to step into our greatness. God's timing is crucial, and while the colt was tied, it was awaiting its moment to be used for a divine mission. Likewise, patience is necessary while waiting for God’s perfect timing.

Biblical Example: David (1 Samuel 16:13)
David was anointed as king while still a shepherd boy, but it took years before he ascended to the throne. Though born great, he had to endure periods of waiting and testing before fulfilling his destiny.

2. WHAT IT MEANS TO BE TIED DOWN

a) Spiritual Hindrances
Being tied down can symbolize spiritual hindrances, such as generational curses, demonic oppression, or unresolved sin. These unseen forces can keep you from stepping into the greatness God has ordained for you.

b) Emotional and Mental Strongholds
Fear, doubt, and insecurity are mental and emotional strongholds that can tie down individuals, preventing them from embracing their full potential. Many live beneath their capacity due to self-limiting beliefs.

Biblical Example: The Israelites in Egypt (Exodus 1)
The Israelites were destined for the Promised Land but were tied down in Egypt, bound in slavery. It took God’s intervention to release them from their bondage and lead them into their destiny.

3. SIGNS YOU ARE TIED DOWN

a) Delayed Progress
One of the most common signs of being tied down is the inability to move forward in life, despite your efforts. This is often seen in stagnation, delayed promotions, or constant failure at the brink of success.

b) Frustration in Your Calling
Another sign is a deep sense of frustration when it comes to fulfilling your divine calling. You may feel an internal struggle, knowing that you are capable of more, yet unable to break free from what holds you back.

Biblical Example: The Colt (Luke 19:30-34)
The colt was tied down, unable to fulfill its purpose until Jesus commanded it to be loosed. Despite its potential, it was restricted and could not act on its greatness until it was released.

4. HOW TO BREAK FREE FROM WHAT TIES YOU DOWN

a) Divine Instruction and Intervention
In the case of the colt, it was divine instruction that led to its release. Jesus commanded His disciples to untie the colt and bring it to Him. In the same way, divine intervention is required to break spiritual, emotional, or physical chains holding us down.

b) Stepping Out in Faith
After you are untied, it is essential to take bold steps of faith toward fulfilling your destiny. It is not enough to be free—you must walk in the freedom God has given you.

Biblical Example: Lazarus (John 11:43-44)
Lazarus was resurrected by Jesus, but he was still bound by grave clothes. Jesus instructed that he be loosed and set free. Just like Lazarus, it is not enough to be alive spiritually; you must be free from all limitations.

5. WALKING IN YOUR DIVINE GREATNESS

a) Understanding Your Identity in Christ
Once you are untied, you must fully embrace your identity in Christ. Knowing who you are in Him is crucial to walking in the greatness God has called you to. The colt's identity and purpose became clear once it was untied and placed in the service of the Lord.

b) Fulfilling Your Divine Assignment
After you are set free, it is time to step into the assignment God has prepared for you. The colt was untied for the specific purpose of carrying Jesus into Jerusalem. Similarly, you are set free to accomplish specific tasks for the Kingdom.

Biblical Example: Gideon (Judges 6:11-16)
Gideon saw himself as weak and insignificant, but God called him a mighty man of valor. Once Gideon stepped into the identity God had for him, he became the deliverer of Israel.

CONCLUSION
The colt was born great but tied down until Jesus commanded its release. Similarly, many of us are born with greatness and purpose but are tied down by various factors. Whether it is spiritual bondage, fear, or circumstances beyond your control, God is able to untie you and lead you into your divine destiny. Today, as you yield to His command, you will be set free to fulfill the greatness within you.

BORN GREAT BUT TIED DOWN

Title: BORN GREAT BUT TIED DOWN

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Ecclesiastes 10:7
Supporting Texts: Jeremiah 1:5, Judges 6:11-16, Luke 19:30-34

INTRODUCTION
The scripture in Ecclesiastes 10:7 presents a disturbing picture: "I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth." This verse paints the image of individuals born into greatness but held back from fulfilling their potential, likened to royalty forced to live as commoners. In life, many are born with great destinies, but they remain "tied down" by spiritual, emotional, or physical hindrances. This message focuses on how to break free from the things holding us back from fulfilling our God-given greatness.

1. THE REALITY OF BEING BORN GREAT

a) God Creates Everyone with Purpose and Destiny
Before we were formed, God had a plan for our lives (Jeremiah 1:5). We are all born with unique greatness, and God intends for each of us to fulfill His purpose. Some are meant to be leaders, innovators, or world changers. However, many are tied down, unable to achieve their full potential.

b) Greatness Does Not Exempt You from Challenges
The fact that you are born great does not mean you will automatically achieve your destiny without opposition. Being born into a royal lineage of greatness comes with challenges, both spiritual and natural, that can hinder your progress.

Biblical Example: Gideon (Judges 6:11-16)
Gideon was called to be a mighty warrior, yet when we first meet him in Judges 6, he is hiding in fear. His greatness was "tied down" by fear and low self-esteem. But when God intervened, Gideon broke free and fulfilled his destiny as a leader of Israel.

2. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE TIED DOWN?

a) Tied Down by Sin and Spiritual Bondage
Sin is one of the major factors that can tie people down, hindering them from experiencing the fullness of God’s plans. It creates a spiritual barrier that holds people back from their true potential. Spiritual bondage, whether it is from ancestral curses, demonic oppression, or unbroken covenants, also plays a role in limiting greatness.

b) Tied Down by Fear and Limiting Beliefs
Many people remain bound because of fear, doubt, and a negative mindset. They are held captive by the lies of the enemy, who tells them they are not good enough, or that they will fail. This mental and emotional "tie" can be just as restrictive as any physical chain.

Biblical Example: The Colt Tied Down (Luke 19:30-34)
Jesus sent His disciples to untie a colt that had been tied down. The colt was born for a divine purpose—to carry the Messiah—but it remained tied until Jesus commanded its release. Like the colt, many of us are destined for greatness but are tied down by different circumstances.

3. RECOGNIZING THE SIGNS OF BEING TIED DOWN

a) Delayed Destiny
One of the signs of being tied down is a delay in fulfilling your destiny. You may have big dreams and aspirations, but it seems as though you are stuck in the same place, unable to move forward.

b) Frustration and Unfulfilled Potential
Another sign of being tied down is a feeling of frustration and unfulfilled potential. You may feel as though you are meant for more, but something keeps holding you back.

Biblical Example: Israelites in Egypt (Exodus 1)
The Israelites were destined for greatness, but they spent years in slavery in Egypt, unable to fulfill their calling. It took divine intervention for them to be released from their bondage and move toward their promised land.

4. BREAKING FREE FROM WHAT TIES YOU DOWN

a) Divine Intervention is Key
Just as the colt was untied by the command of Jesus, your freedom begins when you receive divine intervention. God has the power to untie whatever is holding you back, whether it is spiritual, emotional, or physical bondage.

b) Faith and Persistence
In order to break free from being tied down, you must have faith and persistence. It may not happen overnight, but by trusting God and taking action, you can break free from the limitations holding you back.

Biblical Example: Lazarus (John 11:43-44)
When Jesus called Lazarus from the grave, He instructed those around him to "loose him and let him go." Lazarus was alive but still bound by grave clothes, a picture of someone born into life but tied down. Like Lazarus, God will speak life into your situation and command the things holding you back to release you.

5. WALKING IN YOUR GREATNESS AFTER FREEDOM

a) Understanding Your Purpose
Once you are untied, it is important to walk in the purpose for which you were created. Many people are freed but still live as though they are bound. You must fully embrace your identity in Christ and the greatness He has placed in you.

b) Fulfilling Your Divine Assignment
After being untied, the colt was used to fulfill a divine assignment—to carry Jesus into Jerusalem. In the same way, once you are free from what ties you down, it is time to fulfill your divine assignment. God has released you for a purpose, and now you must step into it with confidence.

Biblical Example: Joseph in Egypt (Genesis 41:39-41)
Joseph was born for greatness, but he experienced many challenges that tied him down—betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment. However, when his time came, God untied him from his bondage and elevated him to fulfill his divine destiny as a ruler in Egypt.

CONCLUSION
Being born great but tied down is a painful experience, but it does not have to be the end of your story. Just as Jesus commanded the colt to be untied, He is commanding everything holding you back to be loosed. God’s desire is for you to fulfill your destiny and walk in the greatness He has ordained for you. The time has come for you to be released into your divine purpose!

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, untie every area of my life that is tied down in Jesus' name.

2. Father, release me from every form of spiritual, emotional, or physical bondage.

3. Lord, break every chain of limitation holding me back from fulfilling my destiny.

4. Father, I declare that my greatness will no longer be tied down in Jesus’ name.

5. Lord, remove every delay in my journey toward my divine destiny.

6. Father, empower me to break free from every hindrance and obstacle in my life.

7. Lord, restore every opportunity I have lost due to being tied down.

8. Father, let my life reflect the greatness You have placed within me.

9. Lord, I declare that no power will be able to hold me back any longer.

10. Father, I step into my divine purpose and assignment in Jesus' name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS
