INTRODUCTION:
God has ordained a portion for every believer—a divine inheritance tailored to fulfil their purpose. However, possessing your portion requires faith, spiritual warfare, and obedience. This sermon explores the principles and actions necessary to claim what God has prepared for you.
1. UNDERSTANDING YOUR DIVINE PORTION
a) God’s Promise is Sure
Your portion is guaranteed through the covenant of God (Genesis 12:7).
b) God’s Portion is Tailored for You
He has designed your inheritance specifically for you (Jeremiah 29:11).
c) The Enemy Opposes Your Inheritance
Satan works to hinder believers from claiming their portion (John 10:10).
d) Faith is Required to Receive
Without faith, it is impossible to take hold of God’s promises (Hebrews 11:6).
e) Biblical Example: Caleb
Caleb believed in God’s promise and received his inheritance at 85 years old (Joshua 14:6-14).
2. KEYS TO POSSESSING YOUR PORTION
a) Know Your Rights in Christ
As children of God, we are heirs to His promises (Romans 8:17).
b) Overcome Fear and Doubt
Fear prevents possession; boldness is necessary to claim your inheritance (2 Timothy 1:7).
c) Take Action by Faith
Faith without works is dead; take steps towards your portion (James 2:26).
d) Engage in Spiritual Warfare
The kingdom suffers violence, and only the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12).
e) Biblical Example: The Israelites
God commanded them to contend with the Amorites to possess their land (Deuteronomy 2:24).
3. OVERCOMING OBSTACLES TO YOUR INHERITANCE
a) Break the Chains of Unbelief
Unbelief hindered the Israelites from entering the Promised Land (Hebrews 3:19).
b) Reject the Spirit of Procrastination
Delayed action can result in missed opportunities (Ecclesiastes 11:4).
c) Deal with Negative Associations
Surround yourself with people who encourage faith and obedience (Proverbs 13:20).
d) Persist Until You Prevail
Refuse to give up until you possess all that God has promised (Luke 18:1-8).
e) Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood
Her persistence and faith led to her healing and restoration (Mark 5:25-34).
4. THE ROLE OF OBEDIENCE IN POSSESSION
a) Obedience Opens Doors
God honours those who obey His word (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
b) Follow Divine Instructions
God often gives specific strategies for possession (Joshua 6:3-5).
c) Obedience Demonstrates Trust
Trusting God’s plan leads to success (Proverbs 3:5-6).
d) Partial Obedience is Disobedience
Fully follow God’s commands to enjoy His blessings (1 Samuel 15:22).
e) Biblical Example: The Battle of Jericho
Israel’s obedience to God’s instructions led to their victory (Joshua 6:20).
5. MANIFESTING YOUR PORTION
a) Speak Life Over Your Inheritance
Declare God’s promises over your life (Proverbs 18:21).
b) Walk in Gratitude and Praise
Thanksgiving unlocks God’s blessings (Psalm 67:5-7).
c) Stay Committed to God’s Word
Meditating on God’s word brings success (Joshua 1:8).
d) Give Testimonies of God’s Goodness
Testimonies encourage others and reinforce your faith (Revelation 12:11).
e) Biblical Example: David
David declared victory over Goliath and manifested God’s power (1 Samuel 17:45-50).
