THE REMNANT OF GRACE

INTRODUCTION
Romans 11:1-10 addresses an important question arising from Israel's rejection of Christ: Has God completely rejected His people? The Apostle Paul answers emphatically, "God forbid." As evidence, he points to his own conversion as an Israelite and reminds believers that God has always preserved a faithful remnant who remain devoted to Him. His covenant promises are never cancelled by human unfaithfulness.

Paul draws attention to the days of Elijah when the prophet believed he was the only faithful servant left in Israel. Unknown to Elijah, God had preserved seven thousand people who had not bowed to Baal. This demonstrates that God's work is often greater than what human eyes can see. Even in seasons of spiritual decline, God always has a people who remain faithful to Him.

The doctrine of the remnant of grace teaches that salvation is entirely the work of God's grace and not human effort. Those who belong to God do so because of His mercy and calling. This truth should produce humility, confidence, perseverance, and a renewed commitment to remain among God's faithful people in every generation.

1. GOD NEVER ABANDONS HIS PEOPLE
God remains faithful to His covenant even when people are unfaithful.

a) God Has Not Cast Away His People (Romans 11:1-2)
The Lord remains faithful to His promises and never forgets those who belong to Him.

b) God's Covenant Stands Forever (Psalm 89:34)
The promises of God remain dependable because His character never changes.

c) The Lord Knows Those Who Are His (2 Timothy 2:19)
God perfectly knows every genuine believer and preserves them by His grace.

d) Trust God's Faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Even when circumstances seem discouraging, God's mercy and faithfulness remain constant.

Biblical Example: Paul (Romans 11:1). Paul himself was living proof that God had not rejected Israel, for he was an Israelite whom God had saved and called into the ministry.

2. GOD ALWAYS PRESERVES A FAITHFUL REMNANT
The Lord always keeps a people who remain faithful to Him.

a) The Remnant Is Preserved By Grace (Romans 11:5)
God's faithful people are preserved through His grace rather than their own strength.

b) Faithfulness Is Rewarded (Revelation 2:10)
Those who remain faithful to Christ will receive the crown of life.

c) Stand Firm In Times Of Apostasy (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Believers should remain steadfast even when many turn away from the truth.

d) God Strengthens His Faithful Servants (Isaiah 41:10)
The Lord empowers those who remain loyal to Him through every trial.

Biblical Example: Elijah (1 Kings 19:9-18). Although Elijah believed he was alone, God revealed that He had preserved seven thousand faithful Israelites who had not worshipped Baal.

3. SALVATION IS BY GRACE AND NOT BY WORKS
God's grace is the foundation of our salvation.

a) Grace Excludes Human Boasting (Romans 11:6)
If salvation is by grace, it cannot be earned through human effort.

b) Saved Through Faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Salvation is God's free gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ.

c) Not By Works Of Righteousness (Titus 3:5)
Our good works cannot secure salvation; only God's mercy can.

d) Live Gratefully For God's Grace (Colossians 2:6-7)
Believers should respond to God's grace with thankful and obedient lives.

Biblical Example: The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:39-43). He had no opportunity to perform good works, yet he received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

4. REMAIN PART OF GOD'S FAITHFUL REMNANT
Believers are called to persevere faithfully until the end.

a) Remain Holy And Separate (2 Corinthians 6:17-18)
God calls His people to live lives that honour Him.

b) Continue In Sound Doctrine (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
Faithfulness to God's Word preserves believers from deception.

c) Persevere In Faith (Hebrews 10:35-39)
Those who endure in faith will receive God's promised reward.

d) Shine As God's Chosen People (Matthew 5:14-16)
The faithful remnant should reflect God's light in a dark world.

Biblical Example: Daniel (Daniel 6:10-23). Daniel remained faithful to God despite persecution, and the Lord honoured and delivered him because of his unwavering commitment.

CONCLUSION
Romans 11:1-10 assures believers that God never abandons His people. Throughout history He has preserved a faithful remnant according to His grace. His promises remain sure, His mercy never fails, and His saving purpose continues despite human rebellion. Every believer can confidently rest in the faithfulness of God.

Therefore, let us remain among God's faithful remnant by standing firmly upon His Word, depending upon His grace, and living lives that honour Him. Though the world may drift further from God's truth, let us remain steadfast in faith, knowing that the Lord preserves those who belong to Him and will faithfully complete His work in their lives.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, thank You for preserving me by Your grace and making me part of Your faithful people, in Jesus name.

2. Lord, help me to remain steadfast in my faith regardless of the challenges around me, in Jesus name.

3. Father, let Your grace continually strengthen me to live a life that pleases You, in Jesus name.

4. Lord, preserve me from every form of deception and spiritual compromise, in Jesus name.

5. Father, help me to depend completely upon Your grace and not upon my own strength, in Jesus name.

6. Lord, establish me firmly in Your Word and in sound doctrine, in Jesus name.

7. Father, make me a shining light in this dark generation, in Jesus name.

8. Lord, strengthen every believer who is facing persecution for the sake of the Gospel, in Jesus name.

9. Father, let Your Church remain faithful to Your truth until the return of Christ, in Jesus name.

10. Lord, help me to finish my Christian race faithfully and receive the crown of life, in Jesus name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. You shall remain among God's faithful remnant and never depart from His truth.

2. The grace of God shall preserve and strengthen you in every season of life.

3. Every plan of the enemy to draw you away from Christ shall fail completely.

4. You shall stand firm in your faith even in times of great spiritual opposition.

5. The Lord shall establish you in His Word and fill you with unwavering conviction.

6. You shall continually experience the sustaining power of God's abundant grace.

7. Every good work that God has begun in your life shall be brought to completion.

8. You shall shine as a faithful witness of Jesus Christ in your family, community, and generation.

9. The Lord shall preserve your household and keep you steadfast in His covenant.

10. From this day forward, you shall walk in the fullness of God's grace, remain faithful to His calling, overcome every trial through His strength, and finish your race with joy to the glory of His holy name, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
