By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Psalm 11:3

Supporting Texts: Ezekiel 16:3-4; Jeremiah 1:10; Judges 6:25-26; Lamentations 5:7; Isaiah 51:1

INTRODUCTION:
The foundation of a person, family, or lineage plays a major role in the experiences of life. A faulty spiritual foundation, often rooted in ancestry, culture, or past covenants, can result in persistent afflictions, limitations, and failure. Many battles people face today began before they were born—patterns formed by ancestral altars, family idols, or evil dedications.

Foundational bondage is the inherited spiritual pollution from one’s origin. Just as a physical building depends on the strength of its foundation, the spiritual life of a believer is greatly affected by what has been laid in the background of their life. Until the evil foundation is dealt with, many promises of God may be delayed or hindered.

But thank God, no matter how faulty a foundation may be, there is deliverance and hope in Christ. Through the Word, the blood of Jesus, and prophetic intervention, you can uproot evil roots and establish a new foundation of righteousness, peace, and favour in your life and family.

1. UNDERSTANDING FOUNDATIONAL BONDAGES

a) They Are Deep-Rooted Spiritual Problems Passed from Generations: Ancestral in nature (Lamentations 5:7).

b) They Often Form Invisible Limitations: Affects marriages, success, health, and more (Psalm 11:3).

c) They Are Sustained by Evil Altars and Bloodline Covenants: Sacrifices made by forefathers (Ezekiel 16:3-4).

d) They Must Be Addressed Spiritually, Not Just Physically: Education or effort alone can’t solve them (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Biblical Example: Gideon’s life was limited until he confronted and destroyed the evil altar of his father's house (Judges 6:25-27).

2. SIGNS OF EVIL FOUNDATIONS AT WORK

a) Repeating Patterns of Affliction in the Family: E.g., delay, divorce, barrenness, or premature death (Exodus 20:5).

b) Constant Struggles Despite Potential and Effort: Invisible barriers resist breakthrough (Haggai 1:6).

c) Strange Dreams of Returning to Old Houses or Ancestral Shrines: Sign of bondage to origin (Jeremiah 50:33-34).

d) Consistent Failure at the Edge of Breakthrough: Evil roots resisting progress (Isaiah 58:12).

Biblical Example: Jabez inherited sorrow from his foundation, but through prayer, he broke free (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).

3. SOURCES OF EVIL FOUNDATIONS

a) Idolatry and Occult Practices in the Family Line: These open doors to spiritual pollution (Deuteronomy 7:25-26).

b) Evil Dedications and Names Given at Birth: Many destinies are tied to the meaning of their names (Genesis 35:18).

c) Polygamy, Incest, and Bloodshed in Ancestry: These attract curses (Genesis 49:3-4).

d) Curses Issued by Parents, Elders, or Spiritual Authorities: Negative words that became laws (Proverbs 26:2).

Biblical Example: The city of Jericho had a cursed foundation that blocked progress until it was prophetically healed (2 Kings 2:19-21).

4. DELIVERANCE STRATEGIES FROM FOUNDATIONAL BONDAGE

a) Renounce and Break Every Known or Unknown Evil Covenant: Do so by the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 12:24).

b) Engage in Deep Confession, Repentance, and Fasting: Stand in the gap for your lineage (Nehemiah 1:4-6).

c) Raise a New Altar of Righteousness in Your Family Line: Destroy evil altars and raise godly ones (Genesis 8:20-21).

d) Use the Word of God and Prophetic Decrees to Uproot Evil Roots: Declare divine reversal (Jeremiah 1:10).

Biblical Example: King Hezekiah broke down the high places and cleansed the land of idolatry (2 Chronicles 31:1).

5. ESTABLISHING A NEW FOUNDATION IN CHRIST

a) Build Your Life on the Rock—Jesus Christ: He is the sure foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11).

b) Receive a New Identity in Christ: Old things are passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17).

c) Cover Your Life and Lineage with the Blood Daily: Maintain your covenant of exemption (Exodus 12:13).

d) Pass on a Godly Heritage to the Next Generation: Start a new pattern of blessing (Psalm 112:1-2).

Biblical Example: Abraham left idolatry and started a new godly lineage that birthed Israel (Genesis 12:1-3).

CONCLUSION:
You are not a prisoner of your ancestry. Christ came to give you a new foundation built on righteousness, truth, and grace. It doesn't matter how polluted your background is—God can cleanse, restore, and re-establish your destiny.
