THE GOD WHO MAKES A WAY
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Isaiah 43:16-19 (KJV)
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Supporting Texts: Exodus 14:21-22, Psalm 77:19, John 14:6, Revelation 3:8
INTRODUCTION:
Life is filled with seemingly impossible situations—moments when human wisdom and strength fail. But as believers, we serve a God who specialises in impossibilities. He is the Way-Maker, the One who brings light into darkness and creates paths where there are none.
When Israel stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army behind them, it looked like the end. Yet, God showed that He is the One who can make a way through the sea. No obstacle is too great when God is involved.
Today, many are stuck in deserts of confusion, dryness, stagnation, or closed doors. But our God can create rivers in deserts and highways in the wilderness. Trust in His ability to do what no man can do.
1. GOD MAKES A WAY WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE NONE
Even in the most hopeless situations, God’s power can open unexpected doors.
a) He opens Red Seas
God can divide the sea of challenges before you and make a way (Exodus 14:21).
b) He creates paths in the wilderness
Wilderness seasons are confusing, but God brings direction and provision (Isaiah 43:19).
c) He opens doors no man can shut
Even when men say no, God’s yes overrides them (Revelation 3:8).
d) He turns impossibilities into testimonies
What looks impossible to man is nothing before the Almighty (Luke 1:37).
Biblical Example: The parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22)
2. GOD'S WAYS ARE NOT OUR WAYS
God doesn’t follow human logic; His methods are often unconventional.
a) He uses foolish things to confound the wise
God often chooses strange ways to show His power (1 Corinthians 1:27).
b) He works in His own time
His timing is perfect, though it may differ from ours (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
c) He brings results from unexpected sources
He may use ravens, enemies, or even nature to bless you (1 Kings 17:4).
d) He leads by His Spirit, not human calculation
His Spirit gives divine leading beyond reason (Romans 8:14).
Biblical Example: Feeding of the 5,000 with five loaves and two fishes (John 6:5-13)
3. GOD MAKES A WAY FOR HIS PURPOSES TO BE FULFILLED
When God has spoken, nothing can stop it from happening.
a) His word never returns void
Whatever He promises, He performs (Isaiah 55:11).
b) He orchestrates events for His glory
God uses every delay, detour, or denial to fulfil His purpose (Romans 8:28).
c) He empowers His children to walk through opened ways
When He opens the way, He gives strength to walk through it (Isaiah 40:29-31).
d) He confirms His Word with signs
He proves His power by backing up His Word (Mark 16:20).
Biblical Example: The deliverance of Joseph from prison to the palace (Genesis 41:14-41)
CONCLUSION:
No matter the situation, our God is still in the business of making a way. Don’t be discouraged by the closed doors, dry grounds, or impossibilities around you. Keep your eyes on the One who parted the Red Sea, who opened the barren womb, and who raised the dead.
When God makes a way, it brings peace, progress, and undeniable miracles. He will do it again in your life—believe it and walk in expectation.
