INTRODUCTION:
Divine remembrance refers to God’s intervention in the life of an individual, a family, or a nation at a time when it seems all hope is lost. It is not that God forgets, for He is omniscient, but it signifies a moment when His attention, favour, and power are focused on fulfilling His promises. In this study, we will examine what divine remembrance entails, its significance, and how to position ourselves to be remembered by God.

1. WHAT IS DIVINE REMEMBRANCE?

a) God’s Focused Attention:
When God singles someone out for intervention (Genesis 30:22).

b) Fulfillment of Promises:
God remembers to fulfil His covenant (Exodus 2:24).

c) A Season of Divine Visitation:
It marks the arrival of God’s favour (Luke 1:13).

d) A Turning Point:
Divine remembrance brings a shift from stagnation to progress (1 Samuel 1:19-20).

e) Biblical Example: God remembered Noah and caused the floodwaters to recede, signalling a new beginning (Genesis 8:1).

2. SIGNS OF DIVINE REMEMBRANCE

a) Uncommon Favour:
Divine remembrance often manifests in favour (Esther 6:1-3).

b) Restoration of Lost Glory:
When God remembers, He restores what was lost (Job 42:10).

c) Reversal of Delay:
Long-standing delays are broken (Genesis 21:1-2).

d) Answers to Prayers:
Persistent prayers are rewarded (Luke 1:13).

e) Biblical Example: God remembered Rachel, and she bore Joseph, breaking years of barrenness (Genesis 30:22-24).

3. WHY DOES GOD REMEMBER?

a) Because of His Covenant:
God’s promises and covenant compel Him to act (Psalm 105:8).

b) Because of Intercession:
Prayer moves God to remember His people (Exodus 32:13).

c) Because of His Mercy:
God’s mercy ensures He does not abandon His own (Psalm 136:23).

d) Because of Divine Timing:
There is a set time for God to remember (Psalm 102:13).

e) Biblical Example: God remembered the Israelites in Egypt due to His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Exodus 2:24).

4. HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF FOR DIVINE REMEMBRANCE

a) Live a Life of Righteousness:
God remembers the righteous (Psalm 112:6).

b) Engage in Persistent Prayer:
Hannah’s prayers led to her remembrance (1 Samuel 1:10-20).

c) Offer Sacrificial Worship:
Noah’s sacrifice attracted God’s attention (Genesis 8:20-21).

d) Walk in Covenant with God:
Covenant relationships invite divine remembrance (Genesis 17:1-4).

e) Biblical Example: Cornelius’ prayers and alms ascended as a memorial before God, leading to his divine visitation (Acts 10:4).

5. RESULTS OF DIVINE REMEMBRANCE

a) Divine Favour and Elevation:
Divine remembrance often brings promotion (Genesis 41:39-41).

b) Manifestation of God’s Promises:
God’s promises are fulfilled (Isaiah 55:11).

c) Breakthroughs and Deliverance:
The impossible becomes possible (Daniel 6:22).

d) Joy and Celebration:
Divine remembrance turns sorrow into joy (Luke 1:57-58).

e) Biblical Example: God remembered Mordecai, and he was honoured while Haman was defeated (Esther 6:1-11).
