THE GOD WHO OPENS BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE.
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Malachi 3:16-18 (KJV)
"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not."
Supporting Texts: Esther 6:1-3; Psalm 56:8; Hebrews 6:10; Revelation 20:12
INTRODUCTION:
In the kingdom of God, nothing you do for the Lord goes unnoticed. The sacrifices you make, the prayers you pray, the tears you shed, and the acts of service you render in obedience to God are all recorded before Him. Heaven operates with divine records, and God Himself is the Keeper of those records. The “Book of Remembrance” is not a symbolic myth — it is a heavenly reality that proves God’s faithfulness to reward those who diligently seek and serve Him.
There are seasons when it may feel like God has forgotten you. You pray, you labour, you sow seeds of love and service, but it seems as though there is no visible reward. However, the truth is that God is never unjust. He sees, He hears, and He remembers. When the time comes for Him to act, He can open your book of remembrance and cause your story to change overnight.
This message is a call to remain faithful, steadfast, and consistent in walking with God. When the Book of Remembrance is opened concerning you, long-forgotten seeds will produce harvests, doors will open supernaturally, and situations that have been stagnant for years will turn around for your good.
1. GOD KEEPS ACCURATE RECORDS OF OUR LABOUR
God is not forgetful like man; He keeps precise accounts of our works and sacrifices. Every prayer prayed, every tear shed, and every act of faith is recorded before Him.
a) God does not overlook the labour of love (Hebrews 6:10)
He remembers every act of service done for His name and His people.
b) Heaven takes note of every seed sown (Galatians 6:9)
Nothing you do in obedience to God is wasted, even if the reward is delayed.
c) God values faithfulness over the applause of men (Matthew 6:4)
What is done in secret will be openly rewarded.
d) God’s records are eternal and flawless (Revelation 20:12)
No good deed is ever lost or erased from His sight.
Biblical Example: Cornelius (Acts 10:1-4) — His prayers and giving ascended as a memorial before God.
2. GOD OPENS THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE IN HIS OWN TIME
God’s timing for remembering His people is always perfect.
a) Divine remembrance is never late (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Even when it feels delayed, God’s appointed time brings the best outcome.
b) When God remembers, speed follows (Genesis 41:14)
Joseph was taken from prison to palace in a single day.
c) God’s remembrance is often tied to fulfilment of prophecy (Genesis 21:1-2)
He remembered Sarah and fulfilled His word.
d) No enemy can stop your day of remembrance (Isaiah 43:13)
When God acts, no one can reverse it.
Biblical Example: Mordecai (Esther 6:1-11) — God caused the king to lose sleep until Mordecai’s good deed was rewarded.
3. WHEN GOD REMEMBERS, HE REVERSES NEGATIVE SITUATIONS
Divine remembrance is not just about rewards — it is about total transformation.
a) God can turn shame into honour (Isaiah 61:7)
He replaces your reproach with double glory.
b) Barrenness turns into fruitfulness (Genesis 30:22-23)
God remembered Rachel and opened her womb.
c) Captivity gives way to freedom (Psalm 126:1)
When the Lord turned the captivity of Zion, it was like a dream.
d) Sorrow turns into joy (John 16:20)
Your weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Biblical Example: Hannah (1 Samuel 1:19-20) — God remembered her, and she conceived Samuel.
4. HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF FOR DIVINE REMEMBRANCE
We have a role to play in ensuring that our names remain in God’s book of remembrance.
a) Maintain the fear of the Lord (Malachi 3:16)
Those who feared the Lord had their names recorded.
b) Be steadfast in service (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Your labour in the Lord is never in vain.
c) Keep speaking and meditating on God’s name (Psalm 1:2)
Continual fellowship with God attracts His attention.
d) Avoid discouragement in well-doing (Galatians 6:9)
Persevere until your due season of reward.
Biblical Example: Simeon (Luke 2:25-30) — His faithfulness in waiting for the Messiah was remembered, and he saw Christ before his death.
CONCLUSION:
The God we serve is a faithful record-keeper and a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Your prayers, sacrifices, and service are not forgotten, even if people overlook them. In His appointed time, He will open your book of remembrance and cause your long-awaited blessings to manifest.
Remain faithful, consistent, and committed to the things of God. When your season of remembrance comes, nothing can stop your promotion, deliverance, or elevation. The same God who remembered Mordecai, Hannah, Rachel, and Cornelius will remember you for good.
