INTRODUCTION:
In the spiritual realm, altars are platforms of interaction between the divine and humanity. They are places of covenant, worship, sacrifice, and spiritual transactions. Just as godly altars invoke the presence of God, evil altars summon demonic forces and facilitate satanic manipulation over individuals, families, communities, and even nations.
Many destinies have been held captive because of evil altars raised by ancestors, territorial powers, occult practices, or personal compromise. These altars speak consistently against the progress and liberty of people, enforcing curses, delays, sickness, poverty, and near-success syndrome. Until these altars are identified and destroyed, the battles they fuel may persist.
God instructed Gideon to pull down his father's altar to Baal before he could fulfil his divine assignment. In the same way, before divine promotion and restoration can occur, the altars that oppose God's will must be pulled down. Today, the Lord is calling His children to arise and destroy every altar that speaks contrary to their divine destiny.
1. UNDERSTANDING WHAT ALTARS REPRESENT
Altars are spiritual gateways and controlling seats of power.
a) Altars are places of spiritual transactions (Genesis 8:20-22)
No altar is silent—sacrifices placed on it speak into the future.
b) Altars represent covenants (Genesis 12:7-8)
Abraham built altars to establish covenant with God; likewise, evil men build altars to covenant with darkness.
c) Altars can be personal, familial, or territorial (Exodus 34:13)
Some altars control entire families or communities for generations.
d) Evil altars empower demonic oppression (Judges 6:25)
Gideon's family worshipped at Baal's altar, which kept them in bondage until it was destroyed.
e) Biblical Example: In 1 Kings 13:1-3, a man of God prophesied against an evil altar, and it broke down by divine power—showing God's judgment against altars not raised in His name.
2. SIGNS THAT AN EVIL ALTAR IS SPEAKING AGAINST A LIFE
The fruit often exposes the root. Evil altars manifest through recurring afflictions.
a) Unexplained battles and repeated affliction (Isaiah 59:19)
When the same battle recurs despite prayers, an evil altar may be reinforcing it.
b) Family patterns of failure and delay (Lamentations 5:7)
Negative family trends suggest ancestral altars are speaking.
c) Constant dreams of backwardness or being tied down (Job 33:14-18)
Dreams are spiritual monitors—evil altars often manifest in dreams.
d) Rejection, stagnation, and near-success syndrome (Deuteronomy 28:29)
When nothing seems to work despite effort, evil altars may be resisting progress.
e) Biblical Example: In 2 Kings 3:26-27, the king of Moab sacrificed his son on an altar, and the battle turned against Israel—proof that altars carry spiritual influence.
3. HOW TO PULL DOWN EVIL ALTARS
Deliverance comes when we take spiritual action.
a) Identify the altar and its source (Judges 6:25)
Gideon had to know the altar’s location and origin before destroying it.
b) Renounce and break covenants tied to the altar (Colossians 2:14-15)
You must break any known or unknown agreement with evil forces.
c) Destroy the altar through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21)
Some altars are stubborn and require spiritual violence to fall.
d) Raise a new altar to God in its place (Judges 6:26)
After destroying Baal’s altar, Gideon built an altar to Jehovah—replace evil with good.
e) Biblical Example: Josiah in 2 Kings 23:15 pulled down Jeroboam’s altar and burnt it to ashes, cleansing the land of idolatry and restoring worship to God.
4. MAINTAINING VICTORY OVER EVIL ALTARS
Pulling down altars is not a one-time event—it requires ongoing spiritual vigilance.
a) Walk in holiness and obedience (Isaiah 59:1-2)
Sin rebuilds what God has destroyed—stay holy to preserve victory.
b) Be committed to daily prayer and intercession (Ephesians 6:18)
Prayer sustains victory and keeps your altar to God active.
c) Feed your altar with worship and sacrificial giving (Psalm 50:5)
Your altar must be maintained through regular sacrifice and communion.
d) Stay connected to a prophetic covering (Hosea 12:13)
Prophetic grace can help identify hidden altars and sustain your deliverance.
e) Biblical Example: Elijah repaired the broken altar of God (1 Kings 18:30) before calling down fire. Victory begins with restoring your relationship with God.
CONCLUSION:
Evil altars are real, and they are responsible for many unseen battles and inherited limitations in people’s lives. Until these altars are pulled down, their evil voice continues to speak. But thanks be to God—through Christ Jesus, we have been given the authority to root out, pull down, and destroy anything not planted by God.
Rise up in holy boldness like Gideon. Identify every altar not of God in your life, family, or environment, and tear it down through revelation, prayer, and the power in the blood of Jesus. Replace them with new altars of worship, righteousness, and sacrifice. Your freedom is your responsibility—and now is your time to walk in complete victory.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, I thank You for the authority to pull down every evil altar speaking against my life.
2. I command every ancestral or territorial altar fighting my destiny to catch fire now in Jesus' name.
3. Every covenant empowering evil altars in my bloodline, break by the blood of Jesus!
4. Evil sacrifices made against my rising, be nullified by the superior sacrifice of Christ!
5. I raise a new altar of righteousness, peace, and progress in my life and family.
6. Powers assigned to renew evil altars in my life, die by fire!
7. O Lord, let the altar of Your presence in my life speak louder than any altar of darkness!
