INTRODUCTION:
Near success syndrome is a spiritual affliction where individuals frequently come close to breakthroughs, testimonies, or opportunities, but something always happens to stop them at the edge of victory. This frustrating cycle can occur in marriage, career, business, academics, or ministry. People suffering from this condition often see the door open, but never walk through it.

In Deuteronomy 1:6–7, God told Israel, “You have dwelt long enough in this mount.” This reveals that stagnation and cyclical movements are not God’s plan for His children. The God we serve is a progressive God, who moves His people from glory to glory. The deliverance from near success syndrome begins with understanding that such a pattern is not divine.

Until this evil cycle is broken, destiny fulfilment is delayed. But by the authority in Christ Jesus, the yoke can be destroyed and total victory experienced.

1. THE SYMPTOMS OF NEAR SUCCESS SYNDROME
There are signs that point to this affliction, and recognising them is the first step to deliverance.

a) Consistent failure at the edge of breakthrough (Numbers 13:27–33)
People see opportunities but cannot attain them because of last-minute breakdowns.

b) Repeated disappointments in key areas of life (Proverbs 13:12)
Hope is constantly deferred, causing heaviness of heart.

c) Stagnation despite hard work (Luke 5:5)
No matter the labour, success always slips away.

d) Others less experienced overtaking you (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
This causes confusion and discouragement, as your efforts yield no results.

e) Biblical Example: The Israelites at the border of the Promised Land – they came close but failed due to fear and unbelief (Numbers 14:1–4).

2. THE ROOTS OF NEAR SUCCESS SYNDROME
Understanding the origin helps to deal with it from the root.

a) Evil altars and covenants (Judges 6:25–26)
Ancestral altars may be speaking against your progress.

b) Generational curses (Lamentations 5:7)
A family history of failure can perpetuate near success cycles.

c) Demonic manipulation and monitoring (Daniel 10:12–13)
Spiritual forces hinder progress and intercept answers.

d) Disobedience and sin (Isaiah 59:1–2)
Personal compromise can create spiritual blockades.

e) Biblical Example: Gideon’s family suffered oppression until he pulled down the altar of Baal (Judges 6:28–32).

3. GOD’S PROVISION FOR YOUR DELIVERANCE
The finished work of Christ guarantees our liberty from every limitation.

a) The anointing breaks the yoke (Isaiah 10:27)
The power of God destroys stubborn strongholds.

b) Jesus has given us victory (Romans 8:37)
We are not just conquerors; we are more than conquerors.

c) The blood of Jesus silences contrary voices (Revelation 12:11)
Every accusing voice is overcome by the blood.

d) God’s word renews the mind and reveals His promises (John 8:32)
Knowledge of the truth brings liberation.

e) Biblical Example: Peter’s fruitless labour ended when Jesus stepped in (Luke 5:5–7).

4. STEPS TO WALKING IN PERMANENT DELIVERANCE
It is not enough to be free; staying free is key.

a) Engage in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12)
Victory is maintained through intentional prayer and spiritual discipline.

b) Build and maintain a personal altar of holiness (Romans 12:1–2)
God dwells in purity; holiness secures His presence.

c) Walk in obedience and faith (Deuteronomy 28:1–2)
Full compliance with God’s instructions brings favour.

d) Speak and declare God's word consistently (Proverbs 18:21)
Your tongue can be your ladder into success.

e) Biblical Example: The lepers in 2 Kings 7 moved by faith and broke the siege that limited a whole city.
