INTRODUCTION:
Spirit husbands and spirit wives are demonic entities that establish illegal spiritual covenants with individuals, often through dreams, sexual encounters, family altars, or witchcraft. These spirits are responsible for delays in marriage, marital frustration, miscarriages, sexual perversion, and a general atmosphere of oppression. Though invisible to the physical eye, their activities are real and destructive.
The origin of these spirits can be traced to Genesis 6:1–4, where the “sons of God” (fallen angels) took human wives and produced giant offspring. These unclean spirits still seek to possess and oppress human vessels today. Many suffer silently under their influence, unaware of the spiritual forces behind their troubles.
Deliverance is not only possible but guaranteed through Jesus Christ. The authority of the believer, the power in the blood of Jesus, and aggressive spiritual warfare can completely break every covenant with spirit spouses and restore divine order.
1. RECOGNISING THE OPERATIONS OF SPIRIT SPOUSES
Spirit spouses often operate subtly, masking their presence through recurring life problems.
a) Sexual encounters in dreams (Jude 1:7)
These dreams are not just harmless fantasies; they are spiritual covenants being renewed.
b) Consistent marital delays or broken relationships (Isaiah 34:16)
These spirits claim ownership over a person’s affection and fight any real-life relationship.
c) Unexplainable hatred from suitors or spouses (Proverbs 18:22)
Spirit spouses cause conflict, emotional withdrawal, or sudden disinterest in relationships.
d) Frequent miscarriages or barrenness (Hosea 9:14)
Spirit husbands/wives attack reproduction to prevent godly offspring and frustrate marriages.
These manifestations are signs that an evil covenant is in place and must be broken.
2. DOORWAYS THROUGH WHICH SPIRIT SPOUSES GAIN ACCESS
No spirit spouse operates without a legal ground; these open doors must be closed.
a) Ancestral covenants and family altars (Exodus 20:5)
Many inherited these spirits through generational worship of marine or demonic powers.
b) Sexual immorality and pornography (1 Corinthians 6:16)
Sexual sins attract unclean spirits who take advantage of legal violations in the spirit realm.
c) Covenants made knowingly or unknowingly (Ecclesiastes 5:6)
Visiting witch doctors, fake prophets, or engaging in fetish practices may open one up.
d) Spiritual manipulation through dreams and gifts (Matthew 13:25)
Spiritual attacks can come through eating in dreams, receiving strange gifts, or wedding dreams.
Understanding these doors is key to permanent deliverance.
3. EFFECTS OF SPIRIT SPOUSES ON A BELIEVER'S LIFE
Their presence causes delay, disappointment, and destruction.
a) Marital delay and disappointment (Genesis 29:21–26)
They cause frustration and hinder the manifestation of God’s marital blessings.
b) Financial and spiritual stagnation (Haggai 1:6)
Spirit spouses frustrate prosperity by causing missed opportunities and closed doors.
c) Shame and emotional instability (Isaiah 54:4)
They bring depression, mood swings, and make the person feel unworthy of love.
d) Spiritual contamination and defilement (2 Corinthians 6:16)
They pollute the believer’s spirit and can hinder fellowship with God.
These spirits aim to destroy one's life silently unless confronted.
4. STEPS TO DELIVERANCE FROM SPIRIT SPOUSES
Deliverance is possible through spiritual warfare and covenant-breaking prayers.
a) Genuine repentance and renunciation (1 John 1:9)
Repent from all sexual sins and renounce all known and unknown covenants.
b) Destroy evil covenants and break soul ties (Isaiah 28:18)
Use spiritual authority to break every evil agreement, soul tie, or sexual connection.
c) Engage in violent prayers and fasting (Matthew 17:21)
Some spirits only go out by aggressive prayer and fasting—be relentless.
d) Seal your deliverance with the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 12:24)
The blood of Jesus speaks better things and permanently silences evil covenants.
Deliverance is both a spiritual battle and a legal transaction in the realm of the spirit.
5. MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE AFTER FREEDOM
After deliverance, vigilance and spiritual discipline are essential.
a) Stay rooted in the Word of God (Psalm 119:11)
The Word will fortify your spirit and resist demonic reinvasion.
b) Be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)
The Holy Spirit gives discernment, boldness, and power to resist further attacks.
c) Maintain a vibrant prayer life and personal altar (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Your altar must be stronger than any altar raised against you.
d) Avoid sin and ungodly associations (2 Corinthians 6:14–17)
Sin reopens doors to the same spirits you’ve been delivered from.
True freedom is maintained by living a holy, Spirit-led life daily.
CONCLUSION:
Spirit husbands and wives are spiritual enemies that aim to enslave destinies and frustrate God’s plans. But Jesus has given us power over all the power of the enemy. You must rise up with knowledge, prayer, and authority to break their grip on your life.
You are not created for bondage. You are created for glory. Every spirit spouse is an intruder, and today their time is up. As you pray, fast, and stand on God’s promises, your freedom will be total and permanent.
