Key Thought:
Whenever Jesus stops, destinies change. Wherever He finds faith, He deposits a miracle.
INTRODUCTION
Jesus was constantly moving; preaching, teaching, healing, and fulfilling divine assignments. Yet, in the midst of His busy schedule, there were moments when He deliberately stopped. These stops were not interruptions; they were divine appointments orchestrated by heaven to bring transformation to lives that dared to believe.
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus did not stop for crowds, noise, or religious status. He stopped for faith, faith that cried out, faith that reached out, and faith that positioned itself despite obstacles. Wherever faith was found, virtue flowed, and miracles were released.
This sermon reveals a powerful truth: when Jesus stops for a person, that person’s story can never remain the same. His stop ends shame, breaks bondage, restores dignity, and redefines destiny. The same Jesus is still stopping today for those who believe.
1. WHEN JESUS STOPS, DEFILEMENT TURNS TO HEALING (Mark 5:25-34)
Faith that reaches out to Jesus is always rewarded with restoration and healing.
a) Faith reaches beyond human solutions (Mark 5:25-26)
The woman with the issue of blood had exhausted all human remedies but pressed in faith.
b) Divine attention is activated by persistence (Mark 5:27-28)
Her persistent approach drew Jesus’ awareness and released healing.
c) Jesus’ stop produces instant transformation (Mark 5:29-30)
The moment of His pause released supernatural virtue, healing what medicine could not.
d) Faith accomplishes what years of effort cannot (Mark 5:34)
Jesus confirmed that her faith made her whole, showing that divine intervention surpasses human effort.
Biblical Example: The woman with the issue of blood illustrates that persistent faith reaching out to Jesus always brings healing.
2. WHEN JESUS STOPS, SINNERS BECOME SONS (Luke 19:1-10)
When Jesus stops, broken pasts are cancelled, and salvation produces repentance, restitution, and restoration.
a) Faith positions the undeserving for mercy (Luke 19:2-3)
Zacchaeus, despised by society, was positioned by faith to encounter Jesus.
b) Divine attention is personal (Luke 19:5)
Jesus called Zacchaeus by name, demonstrating that faith draws personalised intervention.
c) Encounter with Jesus restores purpose (Luke 19:6-7)
Salvation and restitution followed immediately, transforming Zacchaeus’ life.
d) Faith unlocks redemption for generations (Luke 19:9-10)
His household was also affected, showing the ripple effect of divine stops.
Biblical Example: Zacchaeus demonstrates that when Jesus stops, He transforms sinners into sons, restoring destiny.
3. WHEN JESUS STOPS, DARKNESS GIVES WAY TO LIGHT (Mark 10:46-52)
Persistent faith commands divine attention and produces supernatural breakthroughs.
a) Faith refuses to be silenced (Mark 10:47-48)
Blind Bartimaeus cried louder than the crowd, refusing to accept limitation.
b) Jesus stops for persistent faith (Mark 10:49)
His stop signaled divine intervention and attention to human need.
c) Faith results in restoration (Mark 10:50)
Bartimaeus received his sight and moved into destiny.
d) Transformation follows divine recognition (Mark 10:51-52)
He went from the roadside into purpose, following Jesus with a renewed life.
Biblical Example: Bartimaeus demonstrates that persistent faith brings divine recognition and breakthrough from darkness.
4. WHEN JESUS STOPS, CAPTIVITY TURNS TO DELIVERANCE (Mark 5:1-20)
No bondage is too strong when Jesus decides to intervene.
a) Jesus stops for the rejected (Mark 5:2-4)
The man of Gadara, bound and tormented, was overlooked by society but noticed by Jesus.
b) Demons are cast out by divine authority (Mark 5:5-13)
His stop brought liberation and spiritual restoration.
c) Restoration restores dignity and purpose (Mark 5:15)
The formerly bound man was clothed, sane, and positioned for service.
d) Breakthrough produces testimony (Mark 5:19-20)
He became a messenger of God’s power, sharing his story widely.
Biblical Example: The man of Gadara shows that Jesus’ stop brings freedom from captivity and transforms testimony.
CONCLUSION
Every miracle in this message began with one divine action: Jesus stopped. He stopped because faith demanded attention and heaven responded. Crowds did not move Him, but faith did.
The question today is not whether Jesus can perform miracles, but whether your faith can make Him stop. May Jesus stop for you today and change your story forever.
