INTRODUCTION:
Life can often feel overwhelming. Circumstances: failure, defeat, sorrow, stagnation, unseen forces, or shame have a way of bowing our heads and weighing heavily on our hearts. But God, who revealed Himself to Moses as “I AM THAT I AM”, is able to meet every need. Whatever you need Him to be, He already is.
God is not limited by your situation. If you need healing, He is your Healer. If you need deliverance, He is your Deliverer. If you need provision, He is your Provider. If you need fruitfulness, He is the fruitful vine. If you need guidance, He is the Way. If you need truth, He is the Truth. If you need life, He is the Life. He is fully able to lift your head above every circumstance.
However, for the lifter of your head to intervene, you must be willing to position yourself to receive His help. Sometimes, this requires restitution, surrender, and faith. Today, we will discover how God can lift your head and restore you to glory, no matter the situation you face.
1. GOD IS WHO YOU NEED HIM TO BE
God is able to meet every need because He is the I AM THAT I AM. He can be exactly what you need in your season of life.
a) Healer
If you need healing, God is your Healer. Call upon Him to restore your health. (Psalm 103:2-3)
b) Deliverer
If you need deliverance, God is your Deliverer. He can set you free from any bondage or oppression. (Exodus 14:13-14)
c) Provider
If you need provision, God is your Provider. He supplies all your needs according to His riches. (Gen 17:1; Philippians 4:19)
d) Fruitfulness and Guidance
If you need fruitfulness, God is the fruitful vine. When you need a way or the truth in counsel, call on Him as The Way and The Truth. (John 15:1-5; John 14:6)
e) Biblical Example:
Moses experienced God as I AM THAT I AM in Exodus 3:13-14. God met his need for courage, direction, and power to deliver Israel.
2. CIRCUMSTANCES THAT BOW OUR HEADS
Various life challenges can cause one to bow down, but God is ready to lift every head that is bowed.
a) Failure
Failure can make your head bow in discouragement. God strengthens and lifts up those who feel defeated. (1 Kings 19:4-8)
b) Defeat
Long-term defeat causes shame and despair. God intervenes to lift your head and restore hope. (John 5:2-9)
c) Sorrow
Grief and sadness weigh heavily on the heart, making it hard to lift one’s head. God can wipe away every tear. (Luke 7:11-15)
d) Stagnation and Unseen Forces
Being stuck in the same spot year after year or being held down by unseen spiritual forces can make you feel powerless. God’s power can break every bondage. (Luke 13:11-17)
e) Biblical Example:
Elijah was discouraged and bowed down in despair (1 Kings 19:4-8). God fed him, strengthened him, and lifted his head, showing that divine intervention restores the weary.
3. THE SHAME THAT WEIGHS US DOWN
Shame is one of the heaviest burdens a person can carry, but God can remove it completely.
a) Nature of Shame
Shame is heavier than burdens; it prevents people from walking in confidence. God can remove every shame. (Isaiah 61:7)
b) Restitution
If your own actions caused your downfall, restitution is needed. God opens the way for deliverance when we make things right. (Joshua 7:19-26)
c) Surrender
Surrendering your life to Jesus allows Him to lift you out of the miry clay of shame and hopelessness. (Psalm 40:2)
d) Faith in God’s Lifting Power
Believe that the One who lifted others will also lift you. Do not bow your head in despair; call on Him today. (Psalm 3:3)
e) Biblical Example:
The man at Bethesda (John 5:2-9) had been defeated for 38 years. When Jesus visited, he was lifted and healed.
CONCLUSION:
God is the Lifter of Your Head. Whatever has bowed you down—failure, defeat, sorrow, stagnation, unseen forces, or shame—He is able to lift you. When you position yourself through restitution, surrender, and faith, God will intervene and restore your life.
In a case where you are responsible for the situation bowing you down, you need to go back and restitute.
When Joshua experienced defeat, God told him to go back and restitute, only then did he have victory.
Restitution will open the way for deliverance for you, and you will be lifted up.
You need to surrender your life, to the One who can take away your shame forever, and lift you out of the miry clay.
Come to Jesus today.
Do not remain under the weight of circumstances. Call on Jesus today and allow Him to lift your head. Receive your deliverance, restoration, and joy as He takes over and sets your life on a new course of victory.
