Description: This message reveals how God releases grace to preserve, distinguish, and advance His people even when corruption dominates their generation.
INTRODUCTION
Corruption had reached an alarming height in the days of Noah. The Bible records that the imagination of man’s heart was continually evil, and wickedness covered the earth like a flood. In the midst of this moral collapse, divine judgment was imminent, yet God’s grace still spoke.
Grace is not the absence of judgment; it is God’s provision for preservation and redemption before judgment falls. While the world was drowning in sin, Noah stood out, not because he was perfect, but because he found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
This message teaches believers that no matter how dark a generation becomes, God’s grace is still available to keep, empower, and distinguish those who walk with Him. Grace does not excuse corruption; it empowers righteousness in corrupt times.
1. CORRUPTION ATTRACTS DIVINE ATTENTION
When wickedness becomes widespread, God responds decisively.
Corruption is never hidden from God, and persistent wickedness provokes divine intervention.
a) God sees the depth of corruption (Genesis 6:5)
God observed that evil was not occasional but continual, revealing a systemic decay.
b) Corruption grieves the heart of God (Genesis 6:6)
Sin does not only break laws; it breaks God’s heart.
c) Wickedness invites judgment (Romans 1:18)
Persistent rebellion provokes divine wrath and correction.
d) God responds at the right time (Ecclesiastes 3:17)
Judgment may delay, but it never fails to arrive.
Biblical Example:
The pre-flood world became so corrupt that God declared judgment upon all flesh, demonstrating that corruption never escapes divine notice.
2. GRACE DISTINGUISHES THE RIGHTEOUS
Grace marks God’s people for preservation in evil times.
Grace creates separation without isolation and favour without compromise.
a) Grace singles out individuals (Genesis 6:8)
While the world was corrupt, Noah stood alone by grace.
b) Grace is not earned by the crowd (Romans 11:6)
Grace operates by God’s choice, not popular behaviour.
c) Grace preserves amid destruction (Psalm 84:11)
God withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly.
d) Grace produces divine covering (Isaiah 54:17)
Grace becomes a shield against generational judgment.
Biblical Example:
Noah and his household were preserved while the rest of the world perished, proving that grace separates the righteous from the corrupt.
3. GRACE EMPOWERS RIGHTEOUS LIVING
Grace is not permission to sin but power to overcome it.
True grace enables believers to live godly lives in ungodly environments.
a) Grace teaches holiness (Titus 2:11–12)
Grace instructs believers to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts.
b) Grace strengthens obedience (2 Corinthians 12:9)
God’s grace supplies strength where human ability fails.
c) Grace sustains consistency (Philippians 4:13)
Divine empowerment maintains righteous living over time.
d) Grace enables endurance (Hebrews 4:16)
Grace helps believers stand firm until the end.
Biblical Example:
Noah lived righteously for decades in a corrupt generation, sustained not by willpower but by grace.
4. GRACE DOES NOT CANCEL RESPONSIBILITY
Grace always demands a response of obedience and faith.
Divine favour must be partnered with human responsibility.
a) Grace came before the assignment (Genesis 6:8-14)
Noah found grace before he was commanded to build the ark.
b) Obedience validates grace (James 2:17)
Faith and grace are proven by action.
c) Grace requires perseverance (Galatians 6:9)
Noah obeyed consistently despite mockery.
d) Grace prepares for future deliverance (Hebrews 11:7)
Obedience to grace secures salvation and legacy.
Biblical Example:
Noah built the ark according to God’s instructions, showing that grace must be followed by obedience.
5. GRACE ALWAYS PREVAILS OVER CORRUPTION
God’s grace ultimately triumphs over evil.
Where sin abounds, grace super-abounds.
a) Grace outpaces sin (Romans 5:20)
God’s grace is greater than the darkest corruption.
b) Grace preserves destiny (Jeremiah 29:11)
God’s plans remain intact despite generational decay.
c) Grace brings new beginnings (Genesis 8:1)
After judgment, grace ushered in restoration.
d) Grace reveals God’s mercy (Lamentations 3:22-23)
God’s mercies renew even after devastation.
Biblical Example:
After the flood, Noah emerged into a renewed world, proving that grace does not only preserve, it restores.
CONCLUSION
The story of Noah reminds us that corruption may dominate a generation, but grace still speaks louder. While sin invited judgment, grace provided preservation, direction, and hope. God has never left Himself without a witness, even in the darkest times.
As believers, we must rely on grace to live righteously, obey faithfully, and stand boldly. Grace is God’s divine advantage in corrupt times. When the world collapses morally, grace becomes the platform for survival, distinction, and destiny fulfilment.
