Description: This message reveals that though believers may endure seasons of ridicule, delay, or hardship, God ultimately grants them the final victory and enduring joy.
INTRODUCTION
There are seasons when the righteous appear to be at a disadvantage. Prayers seem unanswered, promises seem delayed, and sometimes critics and adversaries appear to be winning. In such moments, it may feel as though sorrow has the final word.
Yet Scripture consistently demonstrates that God specializes in divine reversals. He allows temporary seasons of testing, but He reserves the final outcome for His glory and the joy of His people. The laughter of faith may be delayed, but it is never denied.
When God causes you to laugh last, it is not merely emotional joy; it is the celebration of fulfilled promises, overturned opposition, and undeniable victory. The laughter that God gives is lasting, public, and redemptive.
1. GOD TURNS MOCKERY INTO MIRACULOUS JOY
Before divine laughter often comes human ridicule.
a) Enduring Seasons of Waiting (Genesis 18:12-14)
Sarah once laughed in doubt because the promise seemed impossible, but God remained faithful to His word despite human limitations.
b) Ridicule Does Not Cancel Promise (1 Samuel 1:6-7)
Hannah was provoked and mocked, yet her season of tears became the doorway to her testimony.
c) God’s Promise Prevails (Numbers 23:19)
God is not a man that He should lie; what He speaks, He performs.
d) Joy Replaces Shame (Isaiah 61:7)
Instead of shame, God promises double honor, transforming embarrassment into celebration.
Biblical Example:
When Isaac was born, Sarah declared that God had made her laugh (Genesis 21:6-7), proving that delayed promises culminate in undeniable joy.
2. GOD ENSURES THE RIGHTEOUS HAVE THE FINAL WORD
Temporary setbacks do not determine permanent outcomes.
a) The Lord Laughs at Opposition (Psalm 2:1-4)
While nations rage and enemies plot, God remains sovereign and unmoved.
b) Weeping Is Temporary (Psalm 30:5)
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
c) Divine Reversal (Esther 9:1)
The day the enemies expected victory became the day of their defeat.
d) Trusting God’s Justice (Romans 12:19)
Vengeance belongs to the Lord, assuring believers that justice will prevail.
Biblical Example:
Mordecai, once marked for destruction, was publicly honored instead (Esther 6:10-11), illustrating that God grants the final victory to His own.
3. GOD USES DELAY TO PRODUCE GREATER TESTIMONY
The length of the trial often magnifies the greatness of the testimony.
a) Strength Through Waiting (Isaiah 40:31)
Those who wait upon the Lord renew their strength and rise higher than before.
b) Growth in Adversity (James 1:2-4)
Trials develop patience and maturity, preparing believers for greater outcomes.
c) From Captivity to Celebration (Psalm 126:1-2)
When the Lord turned Israel’s captivity, their mouths were filled with laughter.
d) Purpose in All Things (Romans 8:28)
God orchestrates every circumstance to work together for good.
Biblical Example:
Joseph endured betrayal and imprisonment before becoming ruler in Egypt (Genesis 41:41-43), showing that prolonged trials produce profound elevation.
4. GOD’S FINAL LAUGHTER IS PUBLIC AND UNDENIABLE
When God restores, the evidence is visible to all.
a) Testimony Before Many (Job 8:21)
God fills the mouth with laughter and the lips with rejoicing, creating visible celebration.
b) Vindication Before Adversaries (Psalm 23:5)
God prepares a table in the presence of enemies, displaying His favor openly.
c) Overflowing Joy (Luke 6:21)
Those who weep now shall laugh, promising future joy beyond sorrow.
d) A Lasting Impact (Proverbs 10:28)
The hope of the righteous brings joy, and that joy endures.
Biblical Example:
After years of barrenness, Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord and sang a song of triumph (1 Samuel 2:1-2), demonstrating that God’s final act produces visible celebration.
CONCLUSION
The God who causes you to laugh last does not ignore your tears, nor does He overlook injustice. He allows seasons to unfold, but He controls the final outcome. What appears as delay is often divine preparation for a greater testimony.
Remain steadfast in faith, refuse discouragement, and trust the integrity of God’s promises. The same God who turned Sarah’s sorrow into laughter will turn your waiting into celebration. You may endure weeping now, but you shall laugh last.
