Description: This message reveals how a man can attract divine favour through righteousness, obedience, and a consistent walk with God.
INTRODUCTION
Favour is one of the strongest expressions of divine approval in Scripture. It is God’s supernatural advantage released upon a man, causing him to succeed where others struggle. In a generation filled with corruption and violence, the Bible records that Noah alone found favour with God.
Finding favour does not mean the absence of challenges; rather, it means divine backing in the midst of adversity. Noah lived among the same people, faced the same environment, yet enjoyed exemption, preservation, and elevation because God’s favour rested upon him.
This message teaches believers that divine favour is not random. God still searches for men and women whose lives align with His standards. When a man walks uprightly, obeys God completely, and fears Him sincerely, favour becomes inevitable.
1. FAVOUR IS FOUND, NOT ASSUMED
Divine favour is discovered through relationship, not entitlement.
It is something a man encounters by alignment, not something he demands by association.
a) Favour distinguishes individuals (Genesis 6:8)
Among millions of people, Noah alone was singled out by God.
b) Favour is personal (Psalm 5:12)
God surrounds the righteous with favour as with a shield.
c) Favour is not inherited (Ezekiel 18:20)
Every individual must walk rightly before God to access favour.
d) Favour flows from intimacy with God (Psalm 84:11)
Upright walking positions a man for divine approval.
Biblical Example:
Noah found favour while others encountered judgment, proving that favour is personal and deliberate (Genesis 6:8).
2. RIGHTEOUSNESS ATTRACTS DIVINE FAVOUR
God responds positively to moral integrity and upright living.
Righteousness is a magnet for divine favour.
a) Noah was righteous before God (Genesis 6:9)
His lifestyle aligned with God’s moral standard.
b) Integrity invites divine preservation (Proverbs 11:3)
Uprightness guides and sustains the righteous.
c) God honours holy living (1 Peter 1:15-16)
Holiness attracts divine endorsement and approval.
d) Righteousness produces stability (Psalm 112:1-3)
Those who fear the Lord are firmly established.
Biblical Example:
Job walked uprightly before God and received divine testimony and restoration (Job 1:1, 8; Job 42:10-12).
3. OBEDIENCE SUSTAINS FAVOUR
Favour is preserved through total obedience to God’s instructions.
Partial obedience can weaken or interrupt divine favour.
a) Noah obeyed God completely (Genesis 6:22)
He did all that God commanded him without alteration.
b) Obedience validates faith (Hebrews 11:7)
Noah’s faith was proven by action.
c) Sacrifice cannot replace obedience (1 Samuel 15:22)
God prioritises obedience over religious activity.
d) Consistency preserves favour (Luke 16:10)
Faithfulness in details sustains divine approval.
Biblical Example:
Abraham obeyed God’s call and instructions and entered into covenant favour (Genesis 12:1-4; Genesis 22:16-18).
4. FAVOUR BRINGS PRESERVATION IN TIMES OF JUDGMENT
When judgment falls, favour becomes divine exemption.
God’s favour acts as a covering in dangerous seasons.
a) Favour provides divine protection (Genesis 7:1)
God personally shut Noah into the ark.
b) Favour separates the righteous (Exodus 12:13)
God makes a difference between His people and others.
c) Favour preserves destiny (Psalm 91:7)
Disaster may fall around, but it will not consume the favoured.
d) Favour secures family salvation (Genesis 7:7)
Noah’s household was preserved because of him.
Biblical Example:
Lot was delivered from Sodom because of divine mercy and favour (Genesis 19:15-16, 29).
5. FAVOUR LEADS TO DIVINE PROMOTION
God’s favour does not stop at survival; it leads to elevation and legacy.
After preservation comes divine advancement.
a) Noah became a new beginning (Genesis 9:1)
God restarted humanity through him.
b) Favour establishes legacy (Proverbs 20:7)
The righteous leave an enduring generational impact.
c) Favour brings covenant blessing (Genesis 9:8-11)
God entered into a covenant with Noah.
d) Favour opens generational doors (Psalm 102:13)
Divine favour extends beyond one lifetime.
Biblical Example:
David found favour with God and was elevated from shepherd to king (1 Samuel 16:11-13; Acts 13:22).
CONCLUSION
Noah’s life proves that divine favour is possible even in a corrupt generation. While others compromised, Noah remained righteous, obedient, and faithful, and God preserved him and his household.
Believers today must pursue the same path. When a man finds favour with God, judgment turns to preservation, struggle turns to promotion, and chaos gives way to divine order.
