LIVING AS A PEACEMAKER

INTRODUCTION:
Jesus Christ, in the Beatitudes, declared, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” This profound statement highlights the high calling of every believer to live as an agent of peace in a world filled with conflict, division, and strife. Peacemakers don’t just avoid conflict—they intentionally work to bring reconciliation, healing, and harmony wherever there is tension or discord.

Peacemaking is not weakness; it is spiritual strength in action. It flows from a heart transformed by the Prince of Peace and expresses itself through forgiveness, humility, and love. Every believer is called to reflect God's nature as a reconciler by pursuing peace with others and helping to resolve disputes with wisdom and compassion.

In this sermon, we will explore the qualities, responsibilities, and blessings of being a peacemaker, and how to reflect God’s heart in a broken and angry world.

1. PEACEMAKERS CARRY GOD’S IDENTITY
Being a peacemaker shows that you are a true child of God and reflect His nature.

a) Peacemakers Are Called the Children of God
Living in peace with others identifies us with our Heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:9)

b) God is the Ultimate Reconciler
We are called to the ministry of reconciliation through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:18–19)

c) Peace is Part of God’s Kingdom
The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17)

d) Jesus, the Prince of Peace, Is Our Model
We follow His example when we pursue peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Biblical Example: Jesus reconciled us to God through His death on the cross, becoming our peace. (Ephesians 2:13-17)

2. PEACEMAKERS PURSUE PEACE ACTIVELY
Peacemaking is not passive—it requires intentional effort to resolve conflict and restore relationships.

a) Seek Peace and Pursue It
Make peace your goal, not revenge or retaliation. (Psalm 34:14)

b) Strive to Live Peacefully with Everyone
As much as lies within you, live peaceably with all. (Romans 12:18)

c) Avoid Gossip and Strife
A peacemaker does not stir up division. (Proverbs 16:28)

d) Speak with Wisdom and Gentleness
Peacemakers sow peace through wise words. (James 3:17-18)

Biblical Example: Abigail brought peace between David and Nabal, preventing bloodshed. (1 Samuel 25:18–35)

3. PEACEMAKERS HEAL BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS
God uses peacemakers to mend what has been damaged in relationships and communities.

a) Be Quick to Forgive and Reconcile
Forgive as Christ forgave you. (Colossians 3:13)

b) Do Not Let Bitterness Take Root
Bitterness hinders peace and poisons relationships. (Hebrews 12:15)

c) Use God’s Wisdom in Handling Conflict
A soft answer turns away wrath. (Proverbs 15:1)

d) Bring Offended Parties Together in Love
Blessed are those who help restore peace. (Galatians 6:1)

Biblical Example: Barnabas restored peace between Paul and the early church after his conversion. (Acts 9:26-27)

4. PEACEMAKERS EXPERIENCE GOD’S BLESSINGS
There are divine rewards for those who choose to be peacemakers.

a) Peace Within Brings Peace Without
The peace of God guards your heart and mind. (Philippians 4:7)

b) Peacemakers Inherit Eternal Blessings
They are called sons and daughters of God. (Matthew 5:9)

c) God Defends Those Who Walk in Peace
He takes up their cause in times of trouble. (Exodus 14:14)

d) Their Lives Produce Righteousness
The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace. (James 3:18)

Biblical Example: Solomon’s reign was marked by peace and prosperity because he valued peace. (1 Kings 4:24-25)

CONCLUSION:
Living as a peacemaker is both a calling and a powerful witness in today’s divided world. It requires spiritual maturity, love, humility, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Peacemakers do not ignore conflict; they confront it with grace, bringing God's healing and restoration.

When you choose to live as a peacemaker, you carry God's heart into your relationships, family, church, and community. You become a reflection of Jesus Christ—the Prince of Peace. In a world filled with turmoil, God is looking for His children to stand as bridges, not barriers. Choose today to be a peacemaker.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace in a troubled world.
2. Father, help me to forgive and pursue reconciliation where there is conflict.
3. I reject every spirit of anger, bitterness, and strife in my life.
4. Lord, grant me the wisdom and courage to be a peacemaker in my family and community.
5. Fill me with Your peace, that I may reflect You in all I do.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
1. You are empowered to be a vessel of peace wherever you go!
2. Every storm around you shall give way to divine calmness!
3. Your relationships shall be marked by love, harmony, and healing!
4. God shall use you to mend what the enemy tried to destroy!
5. The peace of God shall dwell richly in your heart and home!
