Description: This sermon reveals God’s power to remove, overcome, and transform obstacles into pathways that lead believers into a greater tomorrow.
INTRODUCTION
Every journey toward a greater tomorrow is often marked by obstacles that challenge faith, patience, and perseverance. These obstacles may appear as delays, opposition, limitations, fear, or repeated setbacks. Many people abandon God’s promises not because the promise failed, but because the obstacles seemed overwhelming.
However, Scripture assures us that God specialises in making a way where none exists. Isaiah 43:19 reveals a God who turns wilderness into pathways and deserts into rivers. Obstacles are not signs of abandonment; rather, they are platforms for divine intervention and revelation.
As we pursue a greater tomorrow, we must understand that obstacles are temporary, but God’s power is eternal. When faith is anchored in God, obstacles lose their authority, and forward movement becomes inevitable.
1. OBSTACLES DO NOT CANCEL GOD’S PROMISES
Obstacles may challenge the journey, but they never invalidate what God has spoken.
God’s promises remain intact regardless of opposition.
a) God’s word stands firm despite resistance (Numbers 23:19)
What God has spoken cannot be reversed by circumstances or opposition.
b) Opposition often confirms divine purpose (Acts 14:22)
Challenges are indicators that destiny is being contested, not denied.
c) God’s promises outlive temporary difficulties (Isaiah 55:11)
God’s word will always accomplish its intended purpose.
d) Faith anchors the believer amid obstacles (Hebrews 10:23)
Holding fast to God’s promise prevents discouragement and retreat.
Biblical Example:
Joseph faced betrayal, imprisonment, and rejection, yet none of these obstacles stopped God’s promise of leadership and elevation from coming to pass (Genesis 37-41).
2. GOD USES OBSTACLES AS PATHWAYS TO GREATER GLORY
What appears as a barrier is often a setup for divine manifestation.
God turns resistance into revelation.
a) God creates ways in impossible situations (Isaiah 43:19)
Where human ability ends, divine intervention begins.
b) Obstacles refine character and faith (James 1:2-4)
Trials produce maturity and spiritual depth.
c) Challenges reveal God’s power more clearly (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Weakness becomes a stage for divine strength.
d) God’s glory is revealed through victory over obstacles (Psalm 66:12)
Passing through difficulty leads to enlargement and abundance.
Biblical Example:
The Red Sea stood as a major obstacle, yet God turned it into a highway of deliverance for Israel (Exodus 14:21-22).
3. OBSTACLES ARE OVERCOME THROUGH FAITH AND OBEDIENCE
Victory is not achieved by strength alone but through trusting and obeying God.
Faith activates divine solutions.
a) Faith empowers believers to confront obstacles boldly (Romans 8:37)
In Christ, believers are more than conquerors.
b) Obedience releases supernatural intervention (Exodus 14:15-16)
Moving forward in obedience opens divine pathways.
c) Fear magnifies obstacles, faith diminishes them (Joshua 1:9)
Courage rooted in God’s presence ensures progress.
d) God strengthens those who depend on Him (Philippians 4:13)
Divine strength enables believers to overcome every limitation.
Biblical Example:
David confronted Goliath with faith in God, turning a national obstacle into a testimony of victory (1 Samuel 17:45-50).
4. A GREATER TOMORROW DEMANDS FORWARD MOVEMENT
Remaining stagnant prolongs obstacles; moving forward activates miracles.
Progress is essential for transformation.
a) God commands forward movement despite challenges (Exodus 14:15)
Standing still delays manifestation.
b) Forward steps break cycles of limitation (Zechariah 4:7)
Mountains become plains before God’s anointed.
c) Persistence ensures eventual victory (Galatians 6:9)
Endurance guarantees reward in due season.
d) God rewards those who refuse to give up (Hebrews 6:12)
Faith and patience inherit promises.
Biblical Example:
Bartimaeus pressed past opposition and obstacles to receive his healing from Jesus (Mark 10:46-52).
CONCLUSION
Obstacles are inevitable, but defeat is optional. God has already made provision for every challenge you will encounter on the journey to a greater tomorrow. What you see as a barrier today will become a testimony tomorrow when you trust God fully.
As you walk in faith, obedience, and perseverance, every obstacle before you shall give way. God is making a way for you, and your greater tomorrow is closer than you think.
