THE GOD WHO REBUKES THE DEVOURER

INTRODUCTION:
A devourer is anything or anyone that consumes what belongs to a person—resources, time, health, peace, or opportunities. It is a spiritual force that brings loss, destruction, and waste. But we serve a God who has the power to rebuke the devourer for our sake. He watches over His people and preserves their portion from destruction. When God steps in, the devourer is silenced and rendered powerless. This study focuses on God’s intervention against devourers and the divine assurance of preservation for His faithful children.

1.  GOD HAS AUTHORITY OVER THE DEVOURER

a) God is sovereign over all powers (Job 1:10-12)
No force can act without God's permission. Even Satan needed divine consent before touching Job’s belongings.

b) He can issue a rebuke that halts destruction (Zechariah 3:2)
When God rebukes the enemy, his operations cease immediately.

c) God controls seasons of loss and restoration (Joel 2:25)
Even after devastation, God can command a reversal and recovery.

d) His rebuke preserves our blessings from being wasted (Malachi 3:11)
God ensures that our labour is not in vain and protects our harvest.

2.  OBEDIENCE ATTRACTS DIVINE COVERING

a) Tithing and giving invite divine rebuke against devourers (Malachi 3:10-11)
When we honour God with our resources, He defends our increase.

b) Walking in righteousness establishes a hedge of protection (Proverbs 11:8)
God delivers the righteous from trouble while the wicked falls into it.

c) Covenant faithfulness brings divine defence (Deuteronomy 28:1-7)
Obedience unlocks supernatural security.

d) Living under divine instructions closes doors to devourers (Isaiah 1:19-20)
Obedient living keeps us under God’s watchful eye.

3.   GOD DEFENDS WHAT BELONGS TO HIS CHILDREN

a) He watches over our possessions (Psalm 121:3-8)
God neither slumbers nor sleeps over our lives.

b) The Lord is our stronghold and fortress (Psalm 18:2)
He shields us from visible and invisible dangers.

c) His angels guard us from destruction (Psalm 91:10-11)
No evil is permitted to come near those He protects.

d) He prevents the enemy from making progress over us (Isaiah 59:19)
When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord lifts a standard.

4.  THE DEVOURER’S PLANS WILL FAIL OVER YOU

a) No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)
The enemy’s weapons become useless before God’s power.

b) The thief’s agenda is interrupted by divine intervention (John 10:10)
Jesus came to give life in abundance, not loss.

c) God can restore years of waste (Joel 2:25)
Lost time, opportunities, and blessings can be supernaturally restored.

d) Victory is guaranteed in Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57)
We are not victims—we are overcomers through Jesus.

Biblical Example:
Job was attacked by the devourer when Satan struck his wealth, health, and family (Job 1:13–19; 2:7). But because of his faithfulness and God’s intervention, Job was eventually restored double of all he lost (Job 42:10-17). God rebuked the devourer and honoured Job’s endurance.

CONCLUSION:
When God rebukes the devourer, what was meant to bring you loss turns around for gain. The key is staying aligned with God in obedience and covenant practices. No matter how fierce the devourer has raged in your life, God’s power is superior and will bring a divine turnaround. Stand firm in faith, and the Lord will preserve all that concerns you.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, arise and rebuke every devourer assigned against my life.
2. Father, let every power consuming my resources be destroyed by fire.
3. I cancel every agenda of loss and waste in my family, in Jesus’ name.
4. O God, restore all my wasted years and blessings.
5. By Your rebuke, let the enemy be silenced over my destiny.
6. Let the hedge of divine protection be built around my labour.
7. Lord, release Your angels to guard my possessions day and night.
8. Every satanic hand touching what belongs to me, wither now.
9. Let every door opened to devourers in my life be shut permanently.
10. Father, make me obedient to Your Word so that the devourer has no access.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
1. The devourer shall have no more access to your blessings!
2. Everything you have lost shall be restored in double measure!
3. The fire of God will consume every enemy of your harvest!
4. Your hands will no longer labour in vain!
5. Every cycle of loss in your life is broken now!
6. You will enjoy divine protection from today forward!
7. Your storehouses shall overflow with increase!
8. God’s rebuke will silence every voice of destruction against you!
9. You will sleep in peace, and none shall make you afraid!
10. The God who rebukes the devourer will fight all your battles!
