INTRODUCTION:
God did not create anyone to be ordinary. Every human being was designed with purpose and potential. However, what makes a person relevant, sought-after, and influential in life is their value. To become a person of value means to be useful, impactful, and excellent in your generation—spiritually, mentally, socially, and professionally.
Value brings visibility. Value attracts favour. Value opens doors. Many people cry for promotion, recognition, and influence, but fail to develop the inner strength and excellence that makes those things sustainable. When you are a person of value, you don’t beg to be noticed—your gift, wisdom, and character will announce you.
In this message, we will examine the qualities that make a person valuable and the biblical principles that help us grow into vessels of honour in God’s hands.
1. DISCOVER YOUR GOD-GIVEN GIFTS AND PURPOSE
You cannot be valuable until you know what God has placed inside you.
a) Every Person Has a Divine Deposit (1 Peter 4:10)
God gives gifts to every individual for His glory and the benefit of others.
b) Purpose Unlocks Potential (Jeremiah 1:5)
You were born for a reason—your value is tied to that divine assignment.
c) Understanding Your Uniqueness Sets You Apart (Romans 12:6–8)
Operate in your spiritual and natural gifts with clarity and boldness.
d) Gifts Must Be Developed Through Training and Use (2 Timothy 1:6)
Stir up the gift in you—don’t let it lie dormant.
Biblical Example: Joseph discovered and developed his gift of dreams and interpretation, which eventually made him a solution to Pharaoh (Genesis 41:15–16).
2. CULTIVATE EXCELLENCE IN ALL YOU DO
Excellence separates you from the crowd and multiplies your influence.
a) God Desires Diligence, Not Mediocrity (Proverbs 22:29)
A diligent person will stand before kings, not mere men.
b) Excellence Is a Form of Evangelism (Matthew 5:16)
Let your good works glorify your Father in heaven.
c) Do All Things as Unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23–24)
Serve in every area of life with honour and distinction.
d) Your Work Ethic Determines Your Worth in the Marketplace (Proverbs 10:4)
Laziness destroys potential—diligence enhances value.
Biblical Example: Daniel had an excellent spirit, which set him above all other administrators (Daniel 6:3).
3. DEVELOP CHARACTER THAT MATCHES YOUR GIFT
Gifts may open doors, but character will keep you there.
a) Integrity Is the Foundation of Lasting Value (Proverbs 10:9)
People of value are trustworthy and consistent.
b) Humility Enhances Favour (James 4:6)
Pride destroys, but humility sustains elevation.
c) Faithfulness in Small Things Leads to Greater Opportunities (Luke 16:10)
Be consistent even when no one is watching.
d) Holiness and Purity Attract Divine Presence (2 Timothy 2:21)
Be a vessel of honour, sanctified for God’s use.
Biblical Example: Joseph’s integrity in Potiphar’s house preserved his destiny despite false accusation (Genesis 39:7–12).
4. ADD VALUE TO OTHERS CONSISTENTLY
Real value is not in what you possess, but in what you contribute.
a) The Path to Greatness Is Service (Matthew 23:11)
The greatest among you shall be your servant.
b) God Blesses Those Who Are a Blessing (Genesis 12:2)
Live beyond yourself—impact others with your knowledge, time, and resources.
c) Value Grows as You Solve Problems (Acts 9:36–39)
People remember those who make a difference in their lives.
d) Give Freely of What You Have Received (Matthew 10:8b)
Don’t hoard your wisdom or grace—share it to help others grow.
Biblical Example: Dorcas (Tabitha) was valuable to her community because of her generosity and service, and God raised her back to life (Acts 9:36–40).
5. REMAIN CONNECTED TO GOD, THE SOURCE OF ALL VALUE
True value flows from a vibrant relationship with God.
a) Without God, You Can Do Nothing (John 15:5)
Your real strength is rooted in abiding in Christ.
b) God Gives Wisdom That Elevates (James 1:5)
Ask God for divine insights that increase your effectiveness.
c) Spiritual Growth Multiplies Kingdom Relevance (2 Peter 1:5–8)
Add virtue, knowledge, self-control, and love to your faith.
d) You Reflect God’s Value When You Carry His Presence (Exodus 33:14–16)
It is His presence that makes you stand out in life.
Biblical Example: The apostles were unlearned men, but because they had been with Jesus, their value was evident (Acts 4:13).
CONCLUSION:
To become a person of value is to walk in alignment with God’s design, develop your potential, serve others, and live a life of character. The world honours excellence, integrity, and relevance—and these traits are not found by chance, but through intentional growth and a deep walk with God.
Don’t settle for mediocrity or blend in with the crowd. Discover what God has placed in you, cultivate it, and let your life speak of His glory. When you become a person of value, you become a vessel of influence, elevation, and purpose.
