MY WALL OF JERICHO MUST FALL

MY WALL OF JERICHO MUST FALL

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Joshua 6:1-20

Supporting Texts: Hebrews 11:30, 2 Corinthians 10:4, Psalm 44:3, Isaiah 45:2

INTRODUCTION:
The story of the fall of Jericho is one of the most dramatic and miraculous victories recorded in Scripture. It demonstrates the power of God to bring down the strongest barriers when His people follow His instructions in faith. Jericho was a fortified city, and its walls symbolised hindrance, opposition, and impossibility. Yet God proved that no wall is too high or too strong for Him.

This account reveals how obedience, faith, patience, and divine strategy work together to deliver breakthrough. Jericho teaches us that God is not limited by human logic or military strength. He works through faith and divine order to bring down obstacles in our lives.

Many believers face metaphorical “walls” — limitations, delays, opposition, bondage, or spiritual strongholds. But the God who brought down Jericho's walls can collapse every wall standing between you and your destiny.

1. THE REALITY OF THE WALLS WE FACE

a) Walls Symbolise Opposition
Many walls in life represent spiritual resistance, emotional barriers, financial hardship, or closed doors (Isaiah 59:2).

b) Some Walls Are Humanly Impossible to Break
The wall of Jericho was thick, high, and shut tightly — impossible to break by natural strength (Joshua 6:1).

c) The Enemy Uses Walls to Intimidate
The fortified walls of Jericho were meant to discourage the Israelites from proceeding (Numbers 13:28).

d) Walls Can Delay Destiny Fulfilment
Until the walls fall, movement into God's promise is hindered (Joshua 6:1-2).

Biblical Example: Goliath was a "human wall" to Israel until David brought him down by faith (1 Samuel 17:45-50).

2. GOD HAS A STRATEGY FOR EVERY WALL

a) God’s Ways Are Not Man’s Ways
Marching around a wall was not a military tactic, but God’s divine instruction (Isaiah 55:8-9).

b) Every Wall Requires Specific Instructions
God gave Joshua clear directions for how to take Jericho (Joshua 6:3-5).

c) Divine Strategy May Seem Foolish
What looks ridiculous to man is often God’s chosen method for breakthrough (1 Corinthians 1:27).

d) Obedience Activates the Power of God
It was not just walking, but obedience to divine command that triggered the miracle (Deuteronomy 28:1).

Biblical Example: Naaman's healing came after obeying a strange instruction to dip in the Jordan (2 Kings 5:10-14).

3. FAITH AND PATIENCE ARE KEY TO VICTORY

a) Faith Keeps You Moving Even When You Don’t See Results
The Israelites walked six days without any visible change (Hebrews 11:30).

b) Patience Is Required for Full Manifestation
Breakthrough doesn’t always come on the first attempt. Sometimes it takes sustained obedience (Galatians 6:9).

c) Silence Builds Expectation
They were instructed to remain silent, cultivating focus and anticipation (Joshua 6:10).

d) Praise Precedes Victory
On the seventh day, the shout of praise was what brought down the wall (Psalm 149:6-9).

Biblical Example: Abraham waited in faith and patience before Isaac was born (Romans 4:20-21).

4. GOD WILL FIGHT WHEN WE FOLLOW HIS LEAD

a) The Battle Is the Lord’s
God made it clear that Jericho was already delivered into Joshua’s hands (Joshua 6:2).

b) Divine Presence Makes the Difference
The ark of the covenant — God’s presence — was in the midst of their march (Exodus 33:14).

c) Obedient Faith Invites Divine Intervention
When we do our part, God shows up in power (James 2:26).

d) God Specialises in Impossible Cases
Jericho’s fall shows that no wall is too strong for God (Luke 1:37).

Biblical Example: God fought for Israel by sending confusion among enemy nations (2 Chronicles 20:22).

5. THE WALLS FELL FLAT

a) Instant, Total, and Supernatural Victory
The walls didn’t crack — they fell flat (Joshua 6:20).

b) God’s Power Overrules Natural Laws
No bomb or bulldozer was used — it was purely divine (Psalm 44:3).

c) What Has Withstood Others Will Collapse Before You
Others feared Jericho, but the Israelites entered boldly (Deuteronomy 2:25).

d) After the Wall Comes Possession
After the wall fell, they took the city (Joshua 6:21).

Biblical Example: Peter's prison chains fell off and the gates opened on their own (Acts 12:7-10).

CONCLUSION:
Jericho's fall reminds us that when we walk by faith, obey divine instructions, and trust in God's timing, no barrier can stand in our way. The enemy may erect spiritual, emotional, financial, or relational walls — but God is still in the business of bringing down every Jericho.

Let us walk with confidence and obedience, knowing that our God is a wall-breaker and a destiny-releaser. What once stood as a stronghold will soon become your testimony ground.
