BREAKING THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

Title: BREAKING THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Isaiah 10:27
Supporting Texts: Deuteronomy 7:14; 2 Kings 4:16-17

INTRODUCTION:
Barrenness is not only the inability to bear children but can also symbolise unfruitfulness in any area of life. God’s plan for His children is fruitfulness, and He has the power to break every yoke of barrenness. Through His anointing, yokes are destroyed, and lives are transformed.

1. GOD’S PROMISE OF FRUITFULNESS

a) God’s covenant of fruitfulness
In Deuteronomy 7:14, God promises that none of His people shall be barren.

b) Fruitfulness is a blessing of obedience
Obedience to God attracts His blessings, including fruitfulness (Deuteronomy 28:1-4).

c) God’s will for His creation
From the beginning, God commanded man to be fruitful (Genesis 1:28).

d) Barrenness is not God’s plan
Barrenness opposes God’s purpose for multiplication and fruitfulness.

Biblical Example: Sarah (Genesis 21:1-2)
God fulfilled His promise of fruitfulness by giving Sarah a son in her old age.

2. THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

a) Understanding the yoke
A yoke is a burden or limitation that hinders progress. Barrenness is a spiritual yoke.

b) Causes of barrenness
Sin, demonic oppression, and generational curses can cause barrenness.

c) God’s power over yokes
Isaiah 10:27 assures us that the anointing breaks every yoke.

d) The role of faith
Faith activates God’s power to destroy barrenness (Hebrews 11:11).

Biblical Example: Hannah (1 Samuel 1:19-20)
Through fervent prayer and faith, Hannah’s barrenness was broken.

3. KEYS TO BREAKING THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

a) Faith in God’s promises
Believe in His Word concerning fruitfulness (Mark 11:24).

b) Persistent prayer
Like Hannah, fervent prayer is essential for breakthrough (James 5:16).

c) Prophetic declarations
Declare God’s Word over your life (Job 22:28).

d) Seek divine intervention
Trust in God’s supernatural power to intervene (Psalm 34:17).

Biblical Example: The Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:16-17)
Her faith and hospitality brought about her miracle of childbirth.

CONCLUSION:
Barrenness is not the end of the story for a child of God. Through faith, prayer, and the power of God, every yoke of barrenness can be broken. Trust in His promises and walk in obedience, knowing that God’s plan for you is fruitfulness.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, thank You for Your promises of fruitfulness in my life.

BREAKING THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

Title: BREAKING THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

By Rev Samuel Arimoro

Main Text:  Genesis 30:22
"Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and enabled her to conceive."

Supporting Text: 1 Samuel 1:19-20
"Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the Lord for him.’"

INTRODUCTION
Today, we gather to address a deeply challenging and sensitive issue—barrenness. For many, this condition represents a painful and long-standing struggle, but the Bible provides hope and assurance that God is able to break the yoke of barrenness and grant the blessing of fruitfulness. As we delve into this topic, we will explore biblical examples of God’s intervention, seek His promises, and pray for His miraculous touch in the lives of those facing this struggle.

1. GOD’S PROMISE AND POWER TO BREAK THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

a) God’s Covenant of Fruitfulness (Genesis 1:28)
Genesis 1:28 records God’s original blessing: "God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.’" From the beginning, God’s design includes fruitfulness and multiplication. This covenant is a reminder of God’s intention for His people and His ability to fulfill His promises.

b) God’s Intervention in the Lives of the Barren (Genesis 30:22)
Genesis 30:22 tells us, "Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and enabled her to conceive." Rachel’s story demonstrates God’s power to intervene in seemingly impossible situations. His remembrance and response to Rachel’s prayers affirm that God is attentive to the cries of the barren and able to bring about change.

c) The Power of Prayer and Faith (1 Samuel 1:19-20)
1 Samuel 1:19-20 reveals Hannah’s earnest prayer: "Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son." Hannah’s story illustrates the power of persistent prayer and faith in God’s ability to answer and fulfill His promises.

2. SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS AND STRATEGIES FOR BREAKING THE YOKE OF BARRENNESS

a) Releasing Faith in God’s Promises (Hebrews 11:11)
Hebrews 11:11 states, "And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise." Faith in God’s promises is crucial for overcoming barrenness. Like Sarah, trusting in God’s faithfulness and promises can break the yoke of barrenness.

b) Overcoming Doubt and Despair (Mark 9:23)
Mark 9:23 declares, "‘If you can’?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for one who believes." Doubt and despair can hinder the manifestation of God’s promises. Believing in God’s ability and power, despite the challenges, is essential in overcoming these obstacles and breaking the yoke of barrenness.

c) Engaging in Persistent Prayer and Fasting (Luke 18:1)
Luke 18:1 encourages us, "Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." Persistent prayer and fasting are powerful tools in seeking God’s intervention. Engaging in these practices can bring breakthrough and change in situations of barrenness.

3. PRAYING FOR BREAKTHROUGH AND FRUITFULNESS

a) Prayer for Divine Intervention (Luke 1:36-37)
Luke 1:36-37 affirms, "Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail." We pray for God’s divine intervention in breaking the yoke of barrenness and enabling those who are struggling to conceive.

b) Prayer for Strength and Endurance (Isaiah 40:31)
Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." We seek strength and endurance for those enduring the trials of barrenness, asking God to renew their strength and provide hope.

c) Prayer for Emotional and Spiritual Healing (Psalm 147:3)
Psalm 147:3 declares, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We pray for emotional and spiritual healing for those who are suffering from the pain of barrenness, asking God to mend their hearts and provide peace and comfort.

4. EMBRACING GOD’S PROMISES AND PREPARING FOR FRUITFULNESS

a) Embracing Hope and Expectation (Romans 4:18)
Romans 4:18 encourages us, "Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’" Embracing hope and expectation in God’s promises is vital for preparing to receive His blessings.

b) Aligning with God’s Will and Timing (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Aligning with God’s will and timing involves trusting in His perfect plan and waiting patiently for His appointed season of fruitfulness.

c) Seeking Support and Encouragement (Galatians 6:2)
Galatians 6:2 says, "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Building a supportive community of faith and encouragement is important for those facing barrenness, helping them to remain encouraged and supported.

CONCLUSION
As we come together to seek God’s intervention in breaking the yoke of barrenness, we affirm our trust in His promises and power. God is able to bring about miracles and fulfill His promises, and we stand in faith and prayer for those seeking fruitfulness. May this service bring hope, encouragement, and divine breakthrough as we trust in God’s perfect timing and intervention.
