THE PUSH TO PURPOSE

THE PUSH TO PURPOSE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Jeremiah 1:4-10

Supporting Texts: Romans 8:28-30, Esther 4:14, Philippians 3:12-14, Isaiah 46:10, Proverbs 19:21

INTRODUCTION:
Every person is created with a divine purpose. God does nothing without intention. You are not an accident; you are a product of divine design. However, discovering purpose does not automatically mean fulfilling it. There must be a push—an intentional drive—to walk into what God has prepared.

Many destinies have been wasted not because of lack of potential, but because of lack of pursuit. The push to purpose involves obedience, discipline, and divine sensitivity. Purpose is not fulfilled in comfort zones—it demands movement, pressure, and the right environment.

We will now explore how God positions and prepares us for purpose, and how we must respond in faith, action, and submission to His divine plan.

1. PURPOSE BEGINS WITH DIVINE REVELATION

a) God reveals purpose before we are formed
Before Jeremiah was born, God had already ordained his assignment (Jeremiah 1:5). Purpose is not an afterthought—it precedes birth.

b) God is the author and revealer of our purpose
True purpose is discovered through intimacy with God, not personal ambition (Isaiah 46:10).

c) Purpose is specific and unique
Everyone has a distinct assignment; comparing yourself with others leads to frustration (2 Corinthians 10:12).

d) God uses people and circumstances to unveil your purpose
Mordecai helped Esther realise her royal position was for divine intervention (Esther 4:14).

Biblical Example: Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-10)
God revealed Moses’ purpose while he was tending sheep—reminding us that God finds us even in low places to reveal high callings.

2. PURPOSE REQUIRES A PUSH FROM COMFORT TO CALLING

a) Comfort zones are enemies of purpose
You cannot fulfil divine destiny while clinging to convenience (Genesis 12:1).

b) The call of God often disrupts normal life
Like Abraham, purpose demands leaving the known for the unknown by faith (Hebrews 11:8).

c) The push often comes through challenges and pressure
Hardships are sometimes divine tools to redirect us toward our calling (Romans 8:28).

d) God uses spiritual promptings to activate movement
Paul was pushed to purpose through a divine encounter on the way to Damascus (Acts 9:3-6).

Biblical Example: Jonah was pushed to Nineveh through a storm and a fish (Jonah 1-2)
Even rebellion can’t stop God’s purpose—He will push you until you surrender.

3. PURPOSE DEMANDS PERSONAL ALIGNMENT AND DISCIPLINE

a) Your habits must reflect your purpose
Purposeful people live intentionally and avoid distractions (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).

b) Spiritual growth is key to fulfilling purpose
Immaturity aborts destiny—grow in the Word and prayer (2 Timothy 2:15).

c) Discipline enables consistency and endurance
You must stay committed even when it’s hard (Hebrews 12:1-2).

d) Purpose-driven lives are not ruled by feelings
You move by conviction, not convenience (Luke 9:62).

Biblical Example: Daniel purposed in his heart and disciplined himself (Daniel 1:8)
He maintained his resolve and rose to prominence through consistency and godliness.

4. PURPOSE MUST BE PURSUED WITH COURAGE AND FAITH

a) Fear is a major enemy of purpose
God told Jeremiah not to be afraid—courage is essential (Jeremiah 1:8).

b) Faith is needed to take steps into the unknown
Purpose is fulfilled one obedient step at a time (2 Corinthians 5:7).

c) You must overcome the fear of rejection and failure
Even Jesus was rejected, but He fulfilled His purpose (John 1:11).

d) The Holy Spirit empowers you for boldness
The Spirit is your helper on the journey to purpose (Acts 1:8).

Biblical Example: Esther took a bold step and saved a nation (Esther 4:16)
Her courage in the face of death led to a historic breakthrough.

5. PURPOSEFUL LIVING IMPACTS GENERATIONS

a) You are not called for yourself alone
Your purpose is tied to destinies beyond you (Romans 8:19).

b) Purpose leaves a legacy that outlives you
Like David, serve your generation and leave a divine mark (Acts 13:36).

c) A fulfilled life is a purposeful life
True success is discovering and completing your assignment (2 Timothy 4:7).

d) You will give account of how you used your purpose
We are stewards, not owners, of the gifts and callings of God (Romans 14:12).

Biblical Example: Paul lived for purpose and finished strong (Philippians 3:12-14)
He pressed on despite trials because he saw his life as a divine mission.

CONCLUSION:
God has a specific and powerful purpose for your life. He is not guessing about your future—He already planned it before you were born. But that plan won’t fulfil itself. There must be a push—a determination to rise, move, grow, and conquer every limitation in your way.

The time for delay is over. You must yield to the call, respond to divine promptings, and align your life with your God-given assignment. When you begin to walk in purpose, you will realise the reason for your creation and experience true fulfilment.
