THE FIRE OF WORSHIP

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Leviticus 6:12-13

Supporting Texts: Romans 12:1, Hebrews 13:15, John 4:23-24, Psalm 50:23, 2 Chronicles 5:13-14

INTRODUCTION:
Worship is not just a song; it is a fire that burns from the altar of a surrendered heart. When God instructed Moses about the altar, He said the fire must never go out. True worship is spiritual fire that keeps our relationship with God alive. Without worship, the altar becomes cold, and our connection with heaven is weakened.

The fire of worship ignites God’s presence, consumes flesh, and prepares the atmosphere for divine manifestation. Worship draws God into our midst and sets us ablaze for Him. Where there is no fire in worship, there is no divine encounter.

Worship is more than music; it is a holy offering that ascends to God. When the fire of worship burns consistently, it births revival, transformation, and divine visitation. We must learn how to fan that fire and keep it burning always.

1. THE FIRE OF WORSHIP IS FUELLED BY SACRIFICE
Worship must cost us something. There is no fire without wood, and no sacrifice without surrender.

a) True Worship Requires Personal Surrender (Romans 12:1)
Worship is presenting ourselves daily as living sacrifices before God.

b) Worship Must Involve the Heart, Not Just the Lips (Matthew 15:8)
Worship that flows only from the mouth but not from the heart is void of fire.

c) Sacrificial Worship Brings Divine Response (Genesis 22:5,13)
Abraham called his obedience worship, and it provoked divine provision.

d) God Responds to Fire on the Altar (Leviticus 9:24)
When worship rises as sacrifice, God answers with consuming fire.

Biblical Example: David refused to offer to God what cost him nothing (2 Samuel 24:24). His sacrificial worship stopped a plague.

2. THE FIRE OF WORSHIP BRINGS DOWN GOD’S PRESENCE
Worship creates a spiritual climate where God feels welcome to dwell.

a) God Inhabits the Praises of His People (Psalm 22:3)
When true worship rises, God descends to dwell in that atmosphere.

b) Worship Unlocks Divine Glory (2 Chronicles 5:13–14)
As the people worshipped in unity, the glory cloud filled the temple.

c) God Reveals Himself in Worship (Isaiah 6:1–4)
Isaiah saw the Lord in His majesty while worship was going on.

d) Worship Opens the Heavens (Luke 3:21–22)
Jesus prayed (a form of worship), and the heavens opened.

Biblical Example: Paul and Silas worshipped in prison, and God responded with an earthquake and freedom (Acts 16:25–26).

3. THE FIRE OF WORSHIP PURIFIES AND TRANSFORMS
True worship does not leave us the same. It burns off pride, sin, and carnality.

a) Worship Exposes and Cleanses the Heart (Isaiah 6:5–7)
In God’s presence, Isaiah recognised his unclean lips and was purified.

b) It Burns Off Carnality and Self-Will (Malachi 3:3)
God sits as a refiner of silver in the fire of true worship.

c) Worship Brings Alignment with God’s Will (Romans 12:2)
When worship becomes our lifestyle, transformation happens inwardly.

d) It Awakens Spiritual Sensitivity (John 12:3–7)
Mary’s act of worship awakened the atmosphere to Jesus’ burial.

Biblical Example: In Isaiah’s vision, worship brought him into divine alignment and his assignment was revealed.

4. THE FIRE OF WORSHIP MUST BE MAINTAINED DAILY
The altar is not a one-time act; it is a daily offering that must not be neglected.

a) The Fire on the Altar Must Never Go Out (Leviticus 6:13)
We must constantly fuel our worship through prayer, Word, and intimacy.

b) Daily Worship Sustains Spiritual Fire (Psalm 34:1)
Worship should be a continual incense, not a seasonal act.

c) Neglected Altars Lead to Coldness (Revelation 2:4)
When worship is no longer burning, love for God begins to fade.

d) God Visits Altars That Are Kept Burning (Genesis 28:16–17)
Jacob experienced divine visitation where he built and maintained an altar.

Biblical Example: The priests in the Old Testament had to ensure the fire never died. A maintained altar meant continued access to God.

CONCLUSION:
Worship is the fire that connects heaven and earth. When it burns consistently, it draws divine presence, purifies hearts, and transforms lives. The fire of worship is not optional—it is essential. If your altar is cold, reignite it with sacrifice, consistency, and sincerity.

Keep the fire burning. Make worship a lifestyle, not just a service routine. The more your worship burns, the more God's presence, power, and purpose will manifest in your life.
