Main Text: Judges 6:25–32

INTRODUCTION:
Altars are spiritual platforms for transactions between the physical and spiritual realms. They can be godly—erected to honour the Lord—or evil, raised by demonic powers to control, enslave, and resist the will of God in people’s lives. In the Scriptures, we see that both God and Satan recognise the power of altars, and they are often used to establish covenants, release blessings, or enforce curses.

Evil altars are satanic structures where evil sacrifices, incantations, and manipulations are made to control territories, families, or individuals. Many destinies are hindered because of ancestral, territorial, or personal altars that speak against them.

However, through the authority of Jesus Christ, the finished work of Calvary, and spiritual warfare, every evil altar can be silenced, uprooted, and overthrown. God has empowered us to break every altar that is not from Him and to establish the altar of righteousness in our lives and families.

1. UNDERSTANDING EVIL ALTARS

a) Altars are spiritual gateways (Genesis 28:17)
Altars are places of exchange, communication, and spiritual control.

b) Evil altars are raised to enforce curses and manipulate lives (Numbers 23:1–3)
Balaam was hired to raise altars to curse Israel, but God turned the curse into a blessing.

c) They are often rooted in blood sacrifices (Psalm 106:37–38)
Evil altars operate through demonic sacrifices that cry out against destinies.

d) They can be generational, territorial, or personal (Ezekiel 16:3–4)
Some families and communities are controlled by ancient altars still speaking today.

e) Biblical Example: Gideon was called by God to destroy his father’s altar to Baal before his national assignment could begin (Judges 6:25–32).

2. SYMPTOMS OF EVIL ALTARS AT WORK

a) Recurring evil patterns (Lamentations 5:7)
Cycles of failure, sickness, delay, or poverty that repeat across generations.

b) Spiritual resistance to progress (Daniel 10:13)
Demonic altars empower territorial spirits that resist divine answers and breakthroughs.

c) Oppression in dreams and visions (Job 33:14–17)
Constant dreams of backwardness, attacks, or seeing dead relatives can signal evil altars.

d) Mysterious sicknesses and failures (Mark 5:25–26)
When medical or logical explanations fail, spiritual altars may be at play.

e) Biblical Example: King Josiah destroyed the evil altars in Judah that were causing spiritual and moral decay (2 Kings 23:12–15).

3. HOW TO OVERCOME EVIL ALTARS

a) Renounce and break every evil covenant (Isaiah 28:18)
Altars speak through covenants. Cancel every agreement made knowingly or unknowingly.

b) Destroy the altar through prayer and prophetic action (Jeremiah 1:10)
You must pull down, root out, and destroy every satanic structure resisting your destiny.

c) Raise a godly altar of worship, sacrifice, and obedience (Genesis 8:20–21)
God responds to righteous altars with blessings and protection.

d) Use the blood of Jesus and the name of Jesus to silence evil voices (Revelation 12:11)
The blood speaks better things than the blood of any sacrifice made on evil altars.

e) Biblical Example: The unnamed prophet in 1 Kings 13 declared judgment on Jeroboam’s evil altar, and it was immediately broken by divine power (1 Kings 13:1–5).

4. ESTABLISHING GOD’S DOMINION AFTER DELIVERANCE

a) Live a life of purity and consecration (Romans 12:1–2)
Don’t open new doors to the enemy after old ones are closed.

b) Be consistent at your personal altar of prayer and worship (Psalm 141:2)
Daily communion with God secures your deliverance and spiritual authority.

c) Speak the Word of God boldly (Hebrews 4:12)
The Word is a spiritual sword that destroys every contrary altar.

d) Be planted in the house of God and remain under spiritual covering (Psalm 92:13)
Isolation makes you vulnerable; community and mentorship bring protection.

e) Biblical Example: Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord and called down fire to prove God’s supremacy over the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:30–39).

CONCLUSION:
Evil altars are real, but their power is not absolute. The believer has authority through Christ to confront, overthrow, and nullify every altar not raised by God. You are not helpless or bound by the past—Christ has made a way for your freedom.

Take responsibility today. Destroy every evil altar and establish a new covenant of blessing, light, and dominion in Christ. Just as Gideon, Elijah, and Josiah took action against ungodly altars, you too must rise up in the Spirit and reclaim your destiny.
