INTRODUCTION:
Healing is an essential part of Jesus’ ministry. He came not only to save souls but also to heal the sick and restore the broken. The Bible declares that Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38). His healing power is still available today.
Many people are suffering from different forms of sickness—physical, emotional, and spiritual. But the good news is that Jesus is the Great Physician. His power to heal is limitless, and He is willing to heal all who come to Him in faith.
Healing is part of God’s covenant with His people. He declared in Exodus 15:26, “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Whether the sickness is natural or caused by demonic forces, Jesus has the power to bring total restoration.
1. JESUS HEALS PHYSICALLY
Jesus has power over all sicknesses and diseases. When He walked on earth, He healed the blind, the lame, the lepers, and those with incurable diseases.
- a) He heals all manner of diseases (Matthew 4:23)
There is no sickness that is beyond His power to heal. - b) He took our sicknesses upon Himself (Matthew 8:16-17)
His suffering and death secured our healing. - c) He heals by His word (Psalm 107:20)
God sends His word to heal and deliver from destruction. - d) He uses His servants to heal (James 5:14-15)
The prayer of faith and the anointing of oil bring healing. - e) Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25-34)
She was healed after touching the hem of Jesus’ garment by faith.
2. JESUS HEALS EMOTIONALLY
Many people are broken-hearted and burdened with pain, depression, and grief. Jesus heals emotional wounds and restores joy.
- a) He binds up the broken-hearted (Isaiah 61:1)
Jesus came to heal those whose hearts are wounded. - b) He gives peace to troubled hearts (John 14:27)
The peace He gives is beyond human understanding. - c) He wipes away tears (Revelation 21:4)
He will remove sorrow and pain forever. - d) He turns mourning into joy (Psalm 30:5)
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. - e) Biblical Example: Hannah’s Healing from Emotional Pain (1 Samuel 1:9-20)
She was deeply troubled, but God healed her and gave her Samuel.
3. JESUS HEALS SPIRITUALLY
Sin brings spiritual sickness, but Jesus offers total restoration and deliverance from its power.
- a) He forgives and heals our iniquities (Psalm 103:2-3)
Spiritual healing begins with forgiveness of sin. - b) He delivers from the power of darkness (Colossians 1:13)
Jesus rescues us from spiritual oppression. - c) He makes us new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Those who come to Him are completely transformed. - d) He restores backsliders (Jeremiah 3:22)
If we return to Him, He will heal our backslidings. - e) Biblical Example: The Healing of the Paralysed Man (Mark 2:1-12)
Jesus healed him both physically and spiritually by forgiving his sins.
4. JESUS HEALS THROUGH FAITH
Healing is available to all, but it must be received by faith.
- a) Faith makes healing possible (Mark 9:23)
If you believe, all things are possible. - b) He honours the faith of those who seek Him (Matthew 9:29)
According to your faith, it shall be done to you. - c) Persistent faith brings healing (Matthew 15:28)
The Canaanite woman received healing for her daughter through persistent faith. - d) The prayer of faith brings healing (James 5:15)
When we pray with faith, healing is released. - e) Biblical Example: Blind Bartimaeus Receives Sight (Mark 10:46-52)
His faith in Jesus made him whole.
5. JESUS HEALS COMPLETELY AND PERMANENTLY
The healing that Jesus gives is not temporary; it is permanent and complete.
- a) He makes people whole (John 5:6)
His healing is total—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. - b) He heals without side effects (Proverbs 10:22)
His blessing comes with no sorrow. - c) His healing is everlasting (Isaiah 58:8)
His healing shines forth like the morning light. - d) He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)
The miracles of Jesus are still happening today. - e) Biblical Example: The Ten Lepers Healed, but One Made Whole (Luke 17:11-19)
Jesus not only healed the lepers but made one completely whole.
