Title: THE GOD OF RACHAEL SHALL TAKE AWAY YOUR REPROACH
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Genesis 30:22-24
Supporting Texts: 1 Samuel 1:9-20; Psalm 113:9
INTRODUCTION:
The God of Rachael is a God who sees the reproach of His people and takes it away. Rachael’s story is one of long waiting, deep sorrow, and finally, divine intervention. After years of barrenness, God visited Rachael and took away her reproach by granting her a son. This sermon encourages us to trust in the God who can take away our reproach, wipe away our shame, and bring forth new beginnings in our lives. Just as He did for Rachael, He is more than able to do the same for you today.
1. THE GOD WHO SEES OUR REPROACH
a) God Sees Our Pain and Suffering:
Rachael’s barrenness was a source of great pain and reproach, yet God saw her affliction (Genesis 30:22).
b) God Does Not Ignore Our Tears:
The Lord does not ignore the cries of His people. He hears your prayers and sees your tears (Psalm 56:8).
c) He Knows the Depth of Our Heartache:
Rachael's reproach was not just physical; it was emotional and spiritual. God understands every aspect of our pain (Psalm 34:18).
d) Trust in God’s Awareness of Your Situation:
No matter how long you've waited or how great your reproach, God knows and is ready to act (Exodus 3:7-8).
Biblical Example: God saw Hagar’s sorrow and responded to her in the wilderness by providing a well of water (Genesis 16:13-14).
2. THE POWER OF FAITH IN THE FACE OF REPROACH
a) Faith Positions Us for God’s Intervention:
Though Rachael’s reproach seemed insurmountable, she kept trusting God. Faith is key to receiving divine help (Hebrews 11:6).
b) Faith Activates the Power of God:
Rachael’s faith in God’s ability to open her womb activated the miracle she longed for (Genesis 30:22-23).
c) Believe God for the Impossible:
Rachael believed that despite her barrenness, God could still bless her with a child. Trust that God can do the impossible in your life (Luke 1:37).
d) Faith Will Take Away the Reproach:
Your faith in God’s promises has the power to remove every reproach, shame, and delay in your life (Mark 11:24).
Biblical Example: Hannah’s faith in God led her to pray earnestly, and God removed her reproach by granting her a son, Samuel (1 Samuel 1:9-20).
3. THE GOD WHO REMOVES REPROACH AND GIVES A NEW BEGINNING
a) God is in the Business of New Beginnings:
Rachael’s sorrow was turned into joy when she conceived Joseph. God specializes in giving us new beginnings (Isaiah 43:19).
b) God Turns Barrenness into Fruitfulness:
What was once barren in your life, whether it be your marriage, finances, or health, will become fruitful as you trust in God (Psalm 113:9).
c) God Restores What the Enemy Has Stolen:
Just as God restored Rachael’s joy, He will restore what has been stolen from you and give you a testimony (Joel 2:25).
d) Divine Intervention Brings Glory to God:
When God removes your reproach, He will be glorified through your testimony, and others will see His goodness in your life (Isaiah 61:7).
Biblical Example: Sarah’s reproach was removed when God visited her and gave her Isaac, the child of promise (Genesis 21:1-2).
4. THE ROLE OF PRAYER IN REMOVING REPROACH
a) Prayer Is a Weapon for Breaking Reproach:
Prayer invites God’s power into your situation. Rachael’s fervent prayer for children led to her miracle (Genesis 30:22).
b) Persistent Prayer Breaks Every Barrier:
Like Hannah, Rachael did not give up but continued to pray and seek God until He answered (1 Samuel 1:10-11).
c) Prayer Shifts Your Focus from the Problem to God’s Power:
When we focus on God through prayer, we are reminded of His sovereignty and His ability to change our circumstances (Philippians 4:6-7).
d) Prayer Brings Divine Answers and Breakthroughs:
When you pray, expect that God will answer, remove your reproach, and bless you with the desires of your heart (Matthew 7:7-8).
Biblical Example: Jesus’ disciples prayed for Peter’s release from prison, and God answered by sending an angel to deliver him (Acts 12:5-11).
5. THE JOY OF RECEIVING YOUR MIRACLE AFTER REPROACH
a) Your Testimony Will Bring Rejoicing:
When God takes away your reproach, you will have a reason to rejoice and celebrate His goodness (Psalm 126:5-6).
b) The End of Reproach Is the Beginning of Joy:
Just as Rachael rejoiced after giving birth to Joseph, your miracle will be a cause for joy and celebration (Genesis 30:23-24).
c) Divine Favor Will Accompany Your Blessing:
After Rachael bore Joseph, she declared that God had taken away her reproach and that He would add another son to her (Genesis 30:24-25).
d) Rejoice in the Faithfulness of God:
Your joy will be full when you witness the faithfulness of God in answering your prayers and removing your reproach (John 16:24).
Biblical Example: Elizabeth and Zechariah rejoiced when God removed their reproach and gave them John the Baptist (Luke 1:57-58).
CONCLUSION:
The God of Rachael is the God who sees, hears, and answers. No matter the reproach, shame, or long delay you may be facing, trust that the God who answered Rachael’s prayer and removed her reproach will do the same for you. Through prayer, faith, and persistence, you will see God move mightily in your life and turn your sorrow into joy. The God of Rachael shall take away your reproach today!
