Title: THE GOD OF REBECCA SHALL OPEN YOUR WOMB
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Genesis 25:21
Supporting Texts: 1 Samuel 1:9-20; Psalm 113:9
INTRODUCTION:
The story of Rebecca is a powerful testament of God’s ability to open the womb and bless His people with children. After years of waiting, Rebecca found herself barren, but her husband Isaac prayed to God on her behalf, and the Lord answered by opening her womb (Genesis 25:21). The God of Rebecca, who answered Isaac’s prayer and took away her reproach, is the same God who can open your womb today, regardless of the situation you face. This sermon will focus on trusting God for children and experiencing His divine intervention in the area of fertility.
1. THE GOD WHO HEARS AND ANSWERS PRAYER
a) God is Attentive to Our Pleas:
Isaac prayed to God on behalf of his wife Rebecca, and God heard his prayer. When we pray in faith, God listens and responds (1 John 5:14-15).
b) God Responds to Our Persistent Prayers:
Rebecca's barrenness was turned into fruitfulness as Isaac continued to pray. Persistence in prayer leads to breakthrough (Luke 18:1-8).
c) God’s Timing is Perfect:
Though Isaac prayed, Rebecca did not conceive immediately. God's timing is always perfect, and He answers prayers when it aligns with His will (Habakkuk 2:3).
d) The Power of Intercession:
Isaac’s intercession for Rebecca was powerful. When someone prays on your behalf, expect that God will intervene in your situation (James 5:16).
Biblical Example: Hannah’s persistent prayer led to God answering her and removing her reproach (1 Samuel 1:9-20).
2. THE GOD WHO REMOVES BARRENNESS
a) God Can Break the Yoke of Barrenness:
Barrenness is not God’s will for His people. The Lord has the power to break any yoke of barrenness and open the womb (Psalm 113:9).
b) Trust in God’s Ability to Open the Womb:
Just as Rebecca trusted in God’s ability to open her womb, we must trust that God is able to change our circumstances, no matter how long the waiting (Luke 1:37).
c) God Removes Shame and Reproach:
Barrenness often brings shame and reproach, but God is in the business of removing shame. He will make a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 54:1).
d) God Will Perfect His Work in Your Life:
Whatever God starts, He finishes. If He opens your womb, He will perfect the blessing of fruitfulness in your life (Philippians 1:6).
Biblical Example: Sarah was barren until God intervened and gave her Isaac, showing that nothing is too hard for God (Genesis 21:1-2).
3. THE GOD WHO BLESSES THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB
a) God’s Blessing Brings Fruitfulness:
Once God opened Rebecca’s womb, she bore twins—Esau and Jacob. God’s blessings bring abundant fruitfulness (Psalm 128:3).
b) Trust God for a Multiplication of Blessings:
Rebecca did not just receive one child but two. When God blesses, He does so abundantly and beyond expectations (Ephesians 3:20).
c) Every Child Is a Gift from God:
Children are a heritage from the Lord, a reward from Him (Psalm 127:3). Every child born into your family is a divine gift, a blessing from God.
d) God’s Blessings Are Not Limited by Time or Circumstances:
God blessed Rebecca at a time when it seemed impossible. Trust that God’s blessings are not limited by time, and He can bless you regardless of your circumstances (Romans 4:18-21).
Biblical Example: Elizabeth and Zechariah were well advanced in years, yet God opened her womb and blessed them with John the Baptist (Luke 1:24-25).
4. THE ROLE OF FAITH IN RECEIVING YOUR MIRACLE
a) Faith in God’s Promise Brings Results:
Rebecca’s womb was opened because of the faith of her husband, Isaac. God responds to faith, and when we trust Him, He honors our faith (Matthew 9:29).
b) Faith in the Midst of Delay:
There was a time of waiting before Rebecca conceived. Faith is required to wait on God’s timing, trusting that He will answer (Isaiah 40:31).
c) Faith in God’s Word is Key:
Faith is rooted in the Word of God. When we trust God’s Word, we unlock His promises in our lives (Romans 10:17).
d) Faith Transforms Barrenness into Fruitfulness:
God can turn your barrenness into fruitfulness when you place your trust in Him. Expect your miracle, and your faith will bring it forth (Matthew 17:20).
Biblical Example: The faith of the centurion in Matthew 8:5-13 led to his servant’s healing, showing the power of faith in God’s ability to perform miracles.
5. THE GOD WHO IS FAITHFUL TO HIS PROMISES
a) God is Faithful to His Word:
God kept His promise to Rebecca, and He will keep His promises to you. The promises of God are sure, and He is faithful to fulfill them (2 Corinthians 1:20).
b) God’s Word Cannot Fail:
The Bible assures us that God’s Word will never return void. What He has spoken over your life, He will perform (Isaiah 55:11).
c) God’s Faithfulness Brings Glory to His Name:
When God opens your womb, it will be a testimony of His faithfulness and will bring glory to His name (Psalm 115:1).
d) Your Miracle Will Speak of God’s Glory:
The miracle of conception will not only bless you but also bring glory to God as people see His faithfulness at work in your life (John 9:3).
Biblical Example: Mary, the mother of Jesus, believed God’s promise and saw His faithfulness fulfilled in her life (Luke 1:45).
CONCLUSION:
The God of Rebecca is the God who opens the womb and brings forth fruitfulness. Whether you are trusting God for a child, restoration, or breakthrough in any area, remember that God is faithful to fulfill His promises. As you pray, trust, and have faith in God, He will take away your reproach and bless you with children. Keep believing, and the God of Rebecca shall open your womb and fulfill His promises in your life.
