INTRODUCTION

Holiness is not merely a religious concept but a divine requirement for every believer. It reflects God’s nature and reveals His character in our daily lives. Walking in holiness means living a life that is set apart for God, free from the dominion of sin, and committed to righteousness.

Many believers struggle with the idea of holiness, seeing it as difficult or unattainable. However, Scripture teaches that holiness is made possible through the grace of God and the enabling power of the Holy Spirit. It is not about perfection but about daily surrender and intentional living.

Walking in holiness daily requires discipline, awareness, and a continuous desire to please God. It is a journey that involves growth, transformation, and a commitment to live according to God’s Word in every area of life.

1. HOLINESS IS A DIVINE CALL

God calls every believer to live a life that reflects His nature.

a) A Command, Not an Option (1 Peter 1:16)
God commands holiness, showing that it is essential for all believers, not just a select few.

b) Reflecting God’s Nature (Leviticus 11:44)
Holiness is rooted in God’s character, and believers are called to mirror Him.

c) Set Apart for God (2 Timothy 2:21)
A holy life makes a believer useful and prepared for every good work.

d) Pursuing Righteousness (Hebrews 12:14)
Without holiness, no one will see the Lord, emphasising its necessity.

Biblical Example: Daniel remained undefiled in Babylon, choosing holiness despite a corrupt environment (Daniel 1:8).

2. HOLINESS REQUIRES DAILY SURRENDER

A holy life is sustained through continuous yielding to God.

a) Presenting Yourself to God (Romans 12:1)
Offering your body as a living sacrifice is an act of daily surrender.

b) Renewing the Mind (Romans 12:2)
Transformation begins with a renewed mind aligned with God’s Word.

c) Walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16)
Yielding to the Spirit prevents the fulfilment of fleshly desires.

d) Consistent Obedience (John 14:15)
Loving God is demonstrated through obedience to His commands.

Biblical Example: Abraham obeyed God’s instructions daily, even when they were difficult, showing consistent surrender (Genesis 12:1–4).

3. THE WORD OF GOD SUSTAINS HOLINESS

Scripture is the foundation for a holy and disciplined life.

a) Cleansing by the Word (Psalm 119:9)
The Word purifies and guides believers into righteousness.

b) Hiding the Word in the Heart (Psalm 119:11)
Internalising Scripture helps prevent sin.

c) Instruction for Living (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Word teaches, corrects, and trains believers in righteousness.

d) Light for the Path (Psalm 119:105)
God’s Word directs decisions and actions in daily life.

Biblical Example: Joshua meditated on the Book of the Law and prospered in all he did (Joshua 1:8).

4. HOLINESS PRODUCES A TRANSFORMED LIFE

Living holy results in visible change and spiritual growth.

a) Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23)
Holiness produces godly character such as love, joy, and self-control.

b) Separation from Sin (2 Corinthians 6:17)
A holy life involves separating from ungodly influences.

c) Becoming Christ-like (Romans 8:29)
Holiness shapes believers into the image of Christ.

d) A Testimony to Others (Matthew 5:16)
A holy life shines as a light, drawing others to God.

Biblical Example: Joseph resisted temptation and maintained integrity, demonstrating holiness in action (Genesis 39:7-12).

CONCLUSION

Walking in holiness daily is a call to live a life that honours God in every thought, word, and action. It requires intentional surrender, reliance on the Holy Spirit, and commitment to God’s Word. Holiness is not a burden but a privilege that reflects God’s nature and brings believers closer to Him.

SURELY THERE IS AN END

SURELY THERE IS AN END

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Key Verse:
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Supporting Texts: Isaiah 40:31; Psalm 30:5; Romans 8:28; Habakkuk 2:3; James 5:7–8

Description: This message encourages believers to trust God’s timing, knowing that every difficult season, trial, or waiting period has a divine end, and relief, breakthrough, or fulfilment is coming.

INTRODUCTION

Life is a journey marked by seasons: some joyful, others challenging, and many filled with waiting. Often, in the midst of prolonged trials or persistent struggles, it feels as if hardships are endless, and hope fades under the weight of despair. Yet, Scripture assures us that no season, no matter how difficult, is permanent. Surely, there is an end.

The book of Ecclesiastes teaches that God has appointed a time for everything. This principle reminds us that every trial has a conclusion, every waiting period has a fulfillment, and every storm has a calm. Understanding this truth instills patience, perseverance, and faith in the believer’s heart.

Believers are therefore called to trust in God’s perfect timing. Even when the circumstances seem unyielding, and every human solution appears exhausted, the sovereign hand of God is orchestrating a divine ending that aligns with His eternal purposes.

1. EVERY SEASON HAS A DIVINE END

Every difficult phase in life is temporary because God has appointed a time for relief and change.

a) A Time to Weep and a Time to Laugh (Ecclesiastes 3:4)
God ordains the duration of sorrow and ensures that joy follows at His appointed time.

b) God Gives the Crown to the Faithful (James 1:12)
Perseverance through trials leads to reward and vindication.

c) The Lord Makes a Way in the Wilderness (Isaiah 43:19)
Divine provision and breakthrough occur precisely when human efforts end.

d) Cast Your Burden Upon the Lord (Psalm 55:22)
Entrusting God with your trials accelerates the arrival of their end.

Biblical Example:
Joseph endured betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, yet each season concluded under God’s sovereign hand, culminating in his rise to prominence and the salvation of many (Genesis 50:20).

2. WAITING PATIENTLY BRINGS DIVINE FULFILLMENT

Endurance during difficult times positions the believer for a breakthrough that surpasses human expectation.

a) Be Patient Until the Lord’s Coming (James 5:7-8)
Waiting develops character and prepares for the fullness of God’s promise.

b) Those Who Wait on the Lord Shall Renew Their Strength (Isaiah 40:31)
Strength and endurance are supernatural gifts that sustain believers through long seasons.

c) God’s Timing Is Perfect (Habakkuk 2:3)
Every promise arrives according to God’s perfect schedule, not man’s impatience.

d) The Lord Hears the Cry of the Righteous (Psalm 34:17)
Persistent prayer ensures divine attention and timely intervention.

Biblical Example:
Hannah prayed for years in barrenness, yet she waited patiently, and God answered her prayer with the birth of Samuel, who became a prophet and leader (1 Samuel 1:10-20).

3. DIVINE INTERVENTION ENSURES BREAKTHROUGH

God’s hand in every trial guarantees a miraculous end that cannot be predicted by human reasoning.

a) The Lord Raises the Lowly (1 Samuel 2:8)
Divine intervention elevates the faithful above circumstances and enemies.

b) God Delivers the Oppressed (Psalm 40:2)
He turns despair into joy through supernatural reversal.

c) Every Valley Will Be Exalted (Isaiah 40:4-5)
Even the lowest seasons are orchestrated to bring elevation and glory.

d) God Makes All Things Work Together for Good (Romans 8:28)
Every trial contributes to a purposeful and victorious conclusion.

Biblical Example:
Daniel remained steadfast in faith despite the lion’s den, and God’s intervention not only preserved his life but glorified His name (Daniel 6:22).

4. FAITH GUARANTEES THE EXPERIENCE OF THE END

Believers must trust that every trial has a limit and that God’s promises will be fulfilled.

a) Faith Confirms the End is Near (Hebrews 11:1)
Trusting God’s Word allows the believer to anticipate a victorious outcome.

b) Do Not Despise Small Beginnings (Zechariah 4:10)
Faith ensures patience during seemingly insignificant progress.

c) Stand Firm in Hope (Romans 12:12)
Hope keeps the heart steadfast until the promised end manifests.

d) God Will Strengthen You in Every Trial (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
His grace is sufficient to carry the believer to the appointed conclusion.

Biblical Example:
Job endured unimaginable loss and suffering, yet his faith guaranteed a restoration far greater than his prior state (Job 42:10-17).

CONCLUSION

Every trial, waiting period, and season of hardship is limited by God’s sovereign authority. The believer can rest in the assurance that nothing is permanent in the human realm, and God’s timing governs all things. Surely, there is an end to every challenge.

Faith, patience, and obedience position believers to experience the fullness of God’s promises. No matter how long the night, dawn is certain. Your season of struggle will conclude, and God will bring about a victorious testimony that glorifies His name.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, let every long season of struggle in my life come to a victorious end in Jesus name.

2. Lord, strengthen my faith to wait patiently for Your divine intervention in Jesus name.

3. Father, turn every valley of despair into a mountain of triumph in Jesus name.

4. Lord, restore what has been lost and multiply it for Your glory in Jesus name.

5. Father, help me trust Your timing and not lean on my understanding in Jesus name.

6. Lord, release supernatural favor and breakthrough in every delayed area of my life in Jesus name.

7. Father, let every oppression and hindrance bow to Your authority in Jesus name.

8. Lord, guide me into the fulfillment of every promise You have spoken over my life in Jesus name.

9. Father, give me endurance to remain steadfast until the end of my trial in Jesus name.

10. Lord, let my life testify of Your perfect timing and faithfulness in Jesus name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

7. God is turning delays into divine appointments.

8. You shall experience supernatural breakthrough in every area of stagnation.

9. The end of your struggle shall bring glory to God’s name.

10. Surely, you shall see the fulfillment of God’s promises in your life.

INTRODUCTION
Commitment and loyalty are foundational virtues in the Christian life. In a world where many easily give up, change sides, or abandon responsibilities, God is looking for believers who will stand firm, remain faithful, and stay true regardless of circumstances.

Commitment speaks of dedication to a cause, a calling, or a relationship, while loyalty speaks of faithfulness, consistency, and steadfastness even when it is inconvenient or difficult. These two qualities are essential for spiritual growth and effectiveness in ministry.

The story of Ruth beautifully illustrates these virtues. Despite uncertainty and hardship, Ruth remained committed and loyal to Naomi, and her faithfulness positioned her for divine elevation and destiny fulfillment.

1. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY BEGIN WITH A DECISION

True commitment is intentional, not accidental.

c) Avoid Betrayal (Proverbs 17:17)
A true friend loves at all times, not only in good seasons.

Job remained loyal to God despite losing everything, and his faithfulness led to restoration (Job 42:10).

3. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY ATTRACT DIVINE REWARD

God honours those who remain faithful.

Loyal people are dependable and trustworthy.

Faithful people are rare and valuable.

Serve wholeheartedly as unto the Lord.

God values those who walk in faithfulness.

d) Strengthen Relationships (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
Loyalty fosters strong and lasting connections.

CONCLUSION

Commitment and loyalty are essential for a successful Christian life. They determine whether a believer will endure, grow, and fulfil destiny. God is not looking for occasional followers but for steadfast and faithful servants.

Description: This teaching highlights the value of commitment and loyalty as essential virtues for spiritual growth, stability, and divine reward.

INTRODUCTION

Commitment and loyalty are indispensable virtues in the life of every believer. In a generation where inconsistency and instability are common, God is seeking men and women who will remain steadfast, dependable, and faithful regardless of circumstances.

Commitment speaks of dedication to a cause, calling, or relationship, while loyalty reflects faithfulness and consistency over time. These qualities are not only important in our relationship with God but also in our service in the church, our relationships, and our daily lives.

Without commitment and loyalty, there can be no lasting impact, no trust, and no spiritual growth. These virtues form the backbone of effective ministry and a fruitful Christian life.

1. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY BUILD TRUST AND CREDIBILITY

Faithfulness establishes confidence and reliability.

a) Faithfulness is Rare (Proverbs 20:6)
Many claim loyalty, but few consistently demonstrate it.

b) Trust is Earned Over Time (Luke 16:10)
Being faithful in small things builds credibility for greater responsibilities.

c) Dependability in Service (Colossians 3:23)
Committed people can be relied upon in every situation.

d) Integrity Strengthens Relationships (Psalm 101:6)
God values those who walk in faithfulness and truth.

Biblical Example:
Joseph’s loyalty and integrity earned him trust in Potiphar’s house and later in prison, leading to his promotion in Egypt (Genesis 39:4-6, 21-23).

2. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY LEAD TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Consistency is key to maturity in the Christian walk.

a) Steadfastness in Faith (Hebrews 10:23)
Holding fast to faith strengthens spiritual growth.

b) Growth Through Consistency (Acts 2:42)
Continual devotion leads to spiritual maturity.

c) Stability in Relationship with God (James 1:8)
A committed believer is not double-minded.

d) Deepening Intimacy with God (John 15:5)
Abiding in Christ produces fruit.

Biblical Example:
The early church remained steadfast in doctrine and fellowship, leading to growth and multiplication (Acts 2:42-47).

3. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY ATTRACT DIVINE REWARD

God honours those who remain faithful.

a) God Rewards Faithfulness (Hebrews 6:10)
Your labour of love will not be forgotten.

b) Promotion Comes Through Loyalty (Matthew 25:21)
Faithful servants are entrusted with greater responsibilities.

c) Honour from God (1 Samuel 2:30)
Those who honour God will be honoured.

d) Increase and Expansion (Luke 16:10)
Faithfulness in little leads to abundance.

Biblical Example:
Daniel’s consistent loyalty to God led to divine favour and elevation in a foreign land (Daniel 6:3).

4. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY PROVIDE STABILITY IN LIFE

They keep believers grounded and focused.

a) Stability in Trials (James 1:12)
Committed believers endure challenges without giving up.

b) Focus on Purpose (Philippians 3:13–14)
Loyalty keeps you aligned with your calling.

c) Resistance to Distractions (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Steadfastness prevents spiritual drift.

d) Consistency in Service (Galatians 6:9)
Persistence ensures eventual reward.

Biblical Example:
Job remained loyal to God despite severe trials, and his steadfastness brought restoration (Job 42:10).

5. COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY STRENGTHEN THE BODY OF CHRIST

The church grows stronger through faithful members.

a) Unity in the Church (Ephesians 4:3)
Loyalty fosters unity and harmony.

b) Effective Ministry (Ephesians 4:16)
Every committed member contributes to growth.

c) Support for Leadership (Hebrews 13:17)
Loyal members strengthen and encourage leaders.

d) Continuity of Vision (Habakkuk 2:2)
Committed people help sustain God’s vision.

Biblical Example:
Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi led to her becoming part of God’s redemptive plan, ultimately connected to the lineage of Christ (Ruth 4:13–17).

CONCLUSION

Commitment and loyalty are not optional virtues, they are essential for a meaningful and impactful Christian life. They build trust, foster growth, attract divine reward, and strengthen the body of Christ.

God is looking for faithful people who will stand firm, remain consistent, and serve wholeheartedly. When you embrace commitment and loyalty, you position yourself for lasting impact and divine elevation.

THE RESURRECTION POWER

THE RESURRECTION POWER

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Text: Philippians 3:10 — “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection…”

Romans 8:11 — “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you… He shall also quicken your mortal bodies…”

INTRODUCTION:
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. It is not just a historical event, but a present-day reality filled with power. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to every believer today.
Philippians 3:10 reveals a deep desire: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection…” This power is not theoretical; it is practical, experiential, and transformational. It brings life where there is death, victory where there is defeat, and hope where there is despair.
Resurrection power is God’s ultimate demonstration of authority over sin, death, and the grave. When a believer understands and walks in this power, life is never the same again.

1WHAT IS THE RESURRECTION POWER

Resurrection power refers to the supernatural power of God that raised Jesus Christ from the dead—and the same power that now works in believers for transformation, victory, and new life.

🔹 1. The Power That Raised Christ

The foundation of resurrection power is seen in the resurrection of Jesus.

Romans 8:11 — “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you… He shall also quicken your mortal bodies…”

Ephesians 1:19–20 — It is the exceeding greatness of His power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead.

👉 This means resurrection power is divine, unstoppable, and victorious over death itself.

🔹 2. The Power That Gives New Life

Resurrection power brings spiritual rebirth and transformation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 — “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…”

John 11:25 — “I am the resurrection and the life…”

👉 It takes a person from spiritual death to spiritual life, breaking the power of sin.

🔹 3. The Power That Enables Holy Living

It empowers believers to live above sin and walk in righteousness.

Romans 6:4 — “Even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Galatians 2:20 — “I am crucified with Christ… Christ liveth in me…”

👉 Resurrection power is not just an event—it is a daily working force in the believer.

🔹 4. The Power That Brings Victory Over Challenges

It gives believers victory over trials, fear, and satanic oppression.

Philippians 3:10 — “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection…”

1 Corinthians 15:57 — “Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory…”

👉 What defeated death can defeat any situation in your life.

🔹 5. The Power That Guarantees Eternal Life

Resurrection power assures believers of their own resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:20–22 — Christ is the firstfruits of them that slept.

John 5:28–29 — All in the graves shall hear His voice.

👉 Just as Christ rose, believers will also rise to eternal life.

🔹 5. WALK IN FAITH, NOT FEAR

2 Corinthians 5:7 — “We walk by faith, not by sight.”

👉 The Word builds your faith and keeps you aligned with God’s power.

🔹 8. WALK IN HOLINESS AND OBEDIENCE

1 Peter 1:15–16 — “Be ye holy…”

Deuteronomy 28:1 — “If thou shalt hearken diligently…”

👉 Sin weakens spiritual power, but obedience sustains it.

🔹 9. EXERCISE SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

Luke 10:19 — “I give unto you power… over all the power of the enemy.”

Ephesians 2:6 — “Seated… in heavenly places in Christ…”

HIS TRAVAIL, OUR JUSTIFICATION

HIS TRAVAIL, OUR JUSTIFICATION

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Isaiah 53:11

Key Verse:
“He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.” — Isaiah 53:11

Supporting Texts: Romans 5:1; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Peter 2:24; Galatians 3:13

Description: This teaching reveals how the suffering and sacrifice of Christ secured our justification, making us righteous before God.

INTRODUCTION

The foundation of the Christian faith is built upon the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 53 prophetically reveals the depth of Christ’s suffering and the purpose behind it: our justification. The word “travail” speaks of intense pain, agony, and sacrificial suffering.

Jesus did not suffer in vain; His suffering had a divine purpose. Through His pain, humanity received pardon. Through His wounds, we received healing. Through His death, we received life. His travail was the price paid for our redemption and justification.

Justification means being declared righteous before God, not by our works, but by the finished work of Christ. It is a divine exchange where our sin was placed upon Him, and His righteousness was given to us. Understanding this truth empowers believers to live in freedom, confidence, and victory.

1. CHRIST’S TRAVAIL WAS REAL AND INTENSE

The suffering of Christ was deep, intentional, and sacrificial.

a) He Bore Our Iniquities (Isaiah 53:5-6)
Jesus carried the weight of humanity’s sin upon Himself.

b) He Endured Physical and Emotional Pain (Matthew 27:27-31)
His suffering included rejection, humiliation, and torture.

c) He Was Forsaken for Our Sake (Matthew 27:46)
Christ experienced separation so we could be reconciled to God.

d) He Became a Sacrifice for Sin (Hebrews 9:28)
His death was the ultimate offering for the sins of the world.

Biblical Example:
Jesus’ suffering on the cross, from Gethsemane to Calvary, demonstrates the full extent of His travail for humanity (Luke 22:44; John 19:17-18).

2. HIS TRAVAIL WAS SUBSTITUTIONARY

Christ suffered in our place as our substitute.

a) He Took Our Place (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Jesus became sin so we could become righteous.

b) He Bore Our Curse (Galatians 3:13)
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law.

c) He Paid Our Debt (Colossians 2:14)
Our sins were nailed to the cross.

d) He Suffered Once for All (1 Peter 3:18)
His sacrifice was complete and sufficient.

Biblical Example:
The Passover lamb in Egypt was slain as a substitute for the firstborn, pointing to Christ’s redemptive work (Exodus 12:13).

3. OUR JUSTIFICATION IS A DIVINE GIFT

Justification is not earned; it is received by grace.

a) Justified by Faith (Romans 5:1)
We are declared righteous through faith in Christ.

b) Not by Works (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Salvation and justification are gifts of grace.

c) Made Righteous in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21)
We receive Christ’s righteousness as our own.

d) Peace with God (Romans 5:1)
Justification restores our relationship with God.

Biblical Example:
The thief on the cross was justified by faith in Jesus, receiving assurance of salvation (Luke 23:42-43).

4. JUSTIFICATION BRINGS FREEDOM AND NEW IDENTITY

Being justified changes who we are and how we live.

a) Freedom from Condemnation (Romans 8:1)
There is no condemnation for those in Christ.

b) A New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Old things pass away, and all things become new.

c) Access to God (Hebrews 4:16)
We can approach God boldly.

d) Victory Over Sin (Romans 6:14)
Sin no longer has dominion over us.

Biblical Example:
The prodigal son was restored and accepted fully, symbolising justification and new identity (Luke 15:22-24).

5. JUSTIFICATION DEMANDS A RESPONSE OF HOLY LIVING

Grace does not permit sin; it empowers righteousness.

a) Live Righteously (Titus 2:11-12)
Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness.

b) Walk Worthy of the Calling (Ephesians 4:1)
Our lives should reflect our justified status.

c) Pursue Holiness (Hebrews 12:14)
Justification leads to sanctification.

d) Bear Fruits of Righteousness (Philippians 1:11)
A justified life produces godly fruit.

Biblical Example:
Zacchaeus demonstrated true transformation by restoring what he had taken and living righteously (Luke 19:8-9).

CONCLUSION

The travail of Christ was not in vain, it secured our justification. Through His suffering, we have been made righteous, restored to God, and given a new identity. This is the foundation of our faith and the reason for our hope.

As believers, we must embrace this truth with gratitude and live in the reality of what Christ has done. We are no longer condemned but justified, not guilty but declared righteous.

Let us honour His sacrifice by living lives that reflect His righteousness and proclaim the power of His finished work.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus that brought my justification in Jesus name.

2. Lord, help me to fully understand and walk in the reality of my righteousness in Jesus name.

3. Father, deliver me from every spirit of guilt and condemnation in Jesus name.

4. Lord, empower me to live a holy and righteous life in Jesus name.

5. Father, let the power of the cross manifest in every area of my life in Jesus name.

6. Lord, strengthen my faith in the finished work of Christ in Jesus name.

7. Father, help me to walk in victory over sin in Jesus name.

8. Lord, let my life reflect the new identity I have in Christ in Jesus name.

9. Father, use me to proclaim the message of justification to others in Jesus name.

10. Lord, let my life bring glory to Your name in Jesus name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. You are justified and declared righteous by the blood of Jesus.

2. Every voice of condemnation is silenced over your life.

3. You shall walk in the fullness of your new identity in Christ.

4. Sin shall not have dominion over you.

5. You shall experience peace with God continually.

6. Your life shall reflect righteousness and holiness.

7. You shall walk boldly in God’s presence without fear.

8. Every burden of guilt is lifted from your life.

9. You shall live in victory through the finished work of Christ.

10. Your life shall testify of the power of justification.

ENDUE WITH POWER FROM ON HIGH

ENDUE WITH POWER FROM ON HIGH

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Luke 24:49

Key Verse: “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” — Luke 24:49

Supporting Texts: Acts 1:4-8, Joel 2:28-29, John 14:16-17, Acts 2:1-4, Ephesians 3:16-17

Description: Receiving the Holy Spirit empowers believers for effective ministry, boldness, and demonstration of God’s kingdom on earth.

INTRODUCTION

Jesus’ final instructions to His disciples before His ascension were centred on a vital promise: the coming of the Holy Spirit. The promise was not optional; it was a divine empowerment designed to prepare them for their mission. Being endued with power from on high equips believers to live victoriously, witness boldly, and operate in the supernatural.

Many believers attempt to serve God in their own strength, but Luke 24:49 reminds us that true effectiveness in ministry and Christian life comes only through the Spirit’s empowerment. Jesus instructs His disciples to wait, showing that preparation and dependence on God precede power.

This passage highlights that spiritual power is not earned but received. It comes through obedience, patience, and faith in God’s promises. Those who are endued with power from on high will see transformation in their lives, their spheres of influence, and the lives of those around them.

1. THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to every believer to empower and guide.

a) Divine Assurance (Luke 24:49)
Jesus promises the Spirit as a gift from the Father, assuring believers that God equips those He calls.

b) Empowerment for Service (Acts 1:8)
The Spirit enables believers to witness, minister, and manifest God’s kingdom on earth.

c) Presence of God Within (John 14:16-17)
The Spirit dwells in believers, providing guidance, comfort, and spiritual strength.

d) Fulfilment of Prophecy (Joel 2:28-29)
God promised that He would pour out His Spirit on all flesh, equipping men and women for divine assignment.

Biblical Example: The disciples were transformed from fearful followers into bold witnesses after receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4).

2. WAITING ON GOD IS ESSENTIAL

Preparation precedes power. The disciples were instructed to tarry in Jerusalem until endued with power.

a) Obedience in Waiting (Luke 24:49)
Waiting demonstrates trust in God’s timing and reliance on His provision.

b) Patience Produces Readiness (James 5:7–8)
Spiritual maturity is developed during the waiting period.

c) Alignment with God’s Plan (Acts 1:4-5)
The Spirit comes in accordance with God’s perfect plan, not human urgency.

d) Avoiding Premature Action (Exodus 14:15-16)
Acting without the Spirit’s empowerment often leads to failure; God’s timing ensures success.

Biblical Example: David waited years in preparation before becoming king, and his patience ensured God’s power and blessing accompanied his reign (1 Samuel 16-17).

3. THE POWER TO WITNESS AND MINISTER

Receiving the Holy Spirit equips believers to demonstrate God’s kingdom on earth.

a) Boldness in Testimony (Acts 4:31)
The Spirit gives courage to proclaim the gospel without fear.

b) Supernatural Signs and Wonders (Mark 16:17-18)
The Spirit empowers miracles, healings, and deliverances.

c) Spiritual Gifts for Service (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
God distributes gifts through the Spirit to build and edify the body of Christ.

d) Guidance and Wisdom (Acts 13:2-4)
The Spirit leads in decision-making, direction, and divine strategy.

Biblical Example: Peter healed a lame man at the temple through the Spirit’s power, leading to a great harvest (Acts 3:1-10).

4. ENDUED WITH POWER TO TRANSFORM LIVES

The Spirit does more than empower service; He transforms the believer from within.

a) Inner Renewal (Romans 8:11)
The Spirit brings life, revival, and spiritual resurrection.

b) Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
The Spirit manifests love, joy, peace, and other godly virtues in the believer.

c) Victory Over Sin (Romans 8:13)
Empowered by the Spirit, believers overcome fleshly desires and live righteously.

d) Continuous Guidance (John 16:13)
The Spirit leads into truth and reveals God’s plan for every situation.

Biblical Example: The Samaritans received the Holy Spirit and were transformed, leading to evangelistic impact in their communities (Acts 8:14-17).

CONCLUSION

Being endued with power from on high is not optional for the believer; it is a promise and a necessity. The Holy Spirit equips, empowers, and transforms every believer to fulfil God’s purpose with boldness, wisdom, and supernatural authority.

Commit to seeking the Holy Spirit earnestly, wait faithfully, and allow His power to flow through you. As you yield to His guidance, your life, ministry, and influence will bear the mark of heaven’s power.

INTRODUCTION

Understanding the Scriptures is essential for every believer who desires to grow in faith and walk in God’s purpose. Many read the Bible, yet not all truly understand it, because spiritual truth cannot be grasped by human intellect alone. It requires divine illumination.

In Luke 24:44–45, Jesus spoke to His disciples and opened their understanding so they could comprehend the Scriptures. This moment reveals a crucial truth: without Christ revealing the Word, it remains closed, but with His revelation, it becomes alive, clear, and transformative.

This passage reminds us that Scripture is not just information but revelation. When Christ opens your understanding, the Word becomes a guide, a source of power, and a tool for victorious living.

1. SCRIPTURE IS CENTRED ON CHRIST

The entire Bible points to Jesus and His redemptive work.

a) Fulfilment of the Law and Prophets (Luke 24:44)
Jesus explained that everything written in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms pointed to Him, showing that Scripture is Christ-centred.

b) Christ Revealed in the Word (John 5:39)
The Scriptures testify of Jesus, revealing His nature and mission.

c) Unity of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16)
All Scripture is inspired by God and works together to reveal His plan of salvation.

d) Knowing Christ Through the Word (Philippians 3:10)
Understanding Scripture deepens our relationship with Christ.

Biblical Example: The Ethiopian eunuch understood Isaiah only after Philip explained how it pointed to Christ (Acts 8:30-35).

2. REVELATION COMES BY DIVINE ILLUMINATION

Understanding Scripture requires God to open your spiritual eyes.

a) Opened Understanding (Luke 24:45)
Jesus opened the minds of the disciples, showing that revelation is a divine act.

b) Spiritual Insight (1 Corinthians 2:10)
The Spirit reveals deep things of God that cannot be known naturally.

c) Prayer for Enlightenment (Psalm 119:18)
Asking God to open your eyes leads to deeper understanding of His Word.

d) The Role of the Holy Spirit (John 16:13)
The Spirit guides believers into all truth and reveals God’s will.

Biblical Example: Daniel received understanding of visions through divine revelation, not human wisdom (Daniel 2:19-22).

3. THE WORD TRANSFORMS AND EMPOWERS

When understood, Scripture changes lives and equips believers for victory.

a) Living and Powerful (Hebrews 4:12)
The Word is active, penetrating the heart and bringing transformation.

b) Renewal of the Mind (Romans 12:2)
Understanding Scripture renews thinking and aligns it with God’s will.

c) Guidance for Life (Psalm 119:105)
The Word becomes a lamp and light, directing daily decisions.

d) Equipping for Good Works (2 Timothy 3:17)
Scripture prepares believers for every good work and assignment.

Biblical Example: Joshua prospered because he meditated on the Book of the Law and acted on it (Joshua 1:8).

4. UNDERSTANDING REQUIRES DILIGENCE AND OBEDIENCE

Revelation grows when believers study and apply the Word.

a) Rightly Dividing the Word (2 Timothy 2:15)
Diligent study is necessary for accurate understanding.

b) Meditation Brings Insight (Psalm 1:2-3)
Reflecting on the Word day and night produces fruitfulness.

c) Obedience Unlocks More Revelation (John 7:17)
Doing God’s will increases understanding of His truth.

d) Consistency Builds Depth (Colossians 3:16)
Letting the Word dwell richly in you leads to spiritual maturity.

Biblical Example: Ezra devoted himself to studying, practising, and teaching the Word, becoming a skilled scribe in Israel (Ezra 7:10).

CONCLUSION

Understanding the Scriptures is not achieved by intellectual effort alone but through divine revelation from Christ. When He opens your understanding, the Word becomes alive, powerful, and transformative, guiding you into truth and purpose.

Commit to seeking God for revelation as you study His Word. Be diligent, prayerful, and obedient, and you will grow in understanding. As Christ reveals the Scriptures to you, your life will be shaped, strengthened, and aligned with His divine plan.

THE ROAD TO EMMAUS ENCOUNTER

THE ROAD TO EMMAUS ENCOUNTER

Main Text: Luke 24:13-35

Key Verse: “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” — Luke 24:27

Supporting Texts: Psalm 119:130, John 5:39, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 10:17

Description: A true encounter with Jesus comes through the revelation of His Word, bringing understanding, faith, and transformation.

INTRODUCTION

The encounter on the road to Emmaus is one of the most profound post-resurrection appearances of Jesus. Two disciples, discouraged and confused, were journeying away from Jerusalem when Jesus joined them, though they did not recognise Him. Their experience reflects the condition of many believers who walk with limited understanding despite being close to divine truth.

Jesus did not immediately reveal His identity; instead, He opened the Scriptures to them. Through the Word, their hearts began to burn, and their understanding was enlightened. This shows that true revelation of Christ comes through the Scriptures, not merely through physical sight or emotional experience.

This passage teaches that when the Word is rightly understood, it transforms despair into hope and confusion into clarity. The Emmaus encounter reminds us that Jesus is revealed to those who diligently engage with His Word and remain open to divine instruction.

1. JESUS WALKS WITH YOU EVEN WHEN YOU DO NOT RECOGNISE HIM

God’s presence is constant, even when we are unaware of it.

a) Divine Presence in Silence (Luke 24:15)
Jesus drew near and walked with them, showing that God is present even when He seems hidden.

b) Limited Spiritual Perception (Luke 24:16)
Their eyes were restrained, revealing that lack of understanding can hinder recognition of Christ.

c) God in Difficult Seasons (Isaiah 43:2)
Even in confusion and discouragement, God walks with His people.

d) Assurance of His Presence (Matthew 28:20)
Jesus promised to be with us always, regardless of our awareness.

Biblical Example: Joseph experienced God’s presence even in prison, though his circumstances seemed unfavourable (Genesis 39:21).

2. THE WORD BRINGS REVELATION AND UNDERSTANDING

Scripture is the primary means through which Jesus reveals Himself.

a) Opening the Scriptures (Luke 24:27)
Jesus expounded the Scriptures, revealing Himself through the written Word.

b) Light and Illumination (Psalm 119:130)
The entrance of God’s Word brings light and understanding.

c) Christ-Centred Revelation (John 5:39)
The Scriptures testify of Jesus, pointing to His identity and mission.

d) Spiritual Discernment (Hebrews 4:12)
The Word discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Biblical Example: Philip explained the Scriptures to the Ethiopian eunuch, leading to understanding and salvation (Acts 8:30-35).

3. THE WORD IGNITES PASSION AND FAITH

A genuine encounter with the Word produces spiritual fire.

a) Burning Hearts (Luke 24:32)
The disciples testified that their hearts burned within them as Jesus spoke, indicating spiritual awakening.

b) Faith Comes by Hearing (Romans 10:17)
Hearing the Word builds faith and confidence in God.

c) Renewed Hope (Romans 15:4)
The Scriptures provide comfort and hope, even in discouraging times.

d) Transformation Through Truth (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The Word corrects, instructs, and equips believers for righteous living.

Biblical Example: Jeremiah described God’s Word as a fire in his bones, demonstrating its powerful effect (Jeremiah 20:9).

4. REVELATION LEADS TO ENCOUNTER AND ACTION

Understanding the Word leads to a deeper encounter with Christ and purposeful living.

a) Eyes Opened (Luke 24:31)
Their eyes were opened, and they recognised Jesus, showing that revelation precedes recognition.

b) Fellowship with Christ (Luke 24:30)
Jesus was made known to them in the breaking of bread, indicating deeper communion.

c) Immediate Response (Luke 24:33)
They returned to Jerusalem to share their experience, demonstrating that true encounters lead to action.

d) Witnessing to Others (Acts 1:8)
Encountering Christ empowers believers to testify boldly.

Biblical Example: Paul’s encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus transformed him into a passionate apostle (Acts 9:3-6).

CONCLUSION

The road to Emmaus teaches that Jesus reveals Himself through the Word. Even when He seems hidden, He is present, guiding and teaching. As believers engage with Scripture, their understanding is enlightened, their faith is strengthened, and their hearts are ignited with passion for God.

Commit to studying and meditating on God’s Word. Allow it to shape your perspective, deepen your relationship with Christ, and propel you into purposeful living. Through the Word, you will continually encounter the living Jesus.

WHY SEEK THE LIVING AMONG THE DEAD?

WHY SEEK THE LIVING AMONG THE DEAD?

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Luke 24:1-8

Key Verse: “He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee.” — Luke 24:6

Supporting Texts: Matthew 28:5-7, Mark 16:6, John 20:1-9, Romans 6:4, 1 Corinthians 15:20-22

Description: The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith and the assurance of new life.

INTRODUCTION

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. Without it, our belief would be empty, and our hope would be in vain. The question asked by the angels, “Why seek the living among the dead?” is both a revelation and a rebuke, calling believers to shift their focus from death to life, from despair to hope.

In Luke 24:1-8, the women came to the tomb expecting to find a dead body, but instead encountered an empty grave and a powerful message: Jesus is alive. Their expectations were shaped by human understanding, but God had already fulfilled His promise of resurrection. This moment changed everything, turning sorrow into joy and confusion into revelation.

This passage challenges us to examine where we are looking for answers. Many seek life in places of death: dead traditions, past failures, or worldly systems, while ignoring the living Christ. The resurrection calls us to lift our eyes and embrace the reality of a risen Saviour.

1. THE RESURRECTION CONFIRMS JESUS’ WORD

The empty tomb proves that everything Jesus said is true.

a) Fulfilled Promise (Luke 24:6-7)
Jesus had foretold His death and resurrection, and it came to pass exactly as He said.

b) God’s Word Is Reliable (Numbers 23:19)
God is not a man that He should lie; His promises never fail.

c) Strengthens Faith (John 2:22)
The disciples remembered His words and believed, showing that fulfilled prophecy builds faith.

d) Foundation of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:14)
Without the resurrection, preaching and faith would be in vain.

Biblical Example: Jonah’s three days in the belly of the fish foreshadowed Christ’s resurrection, confirming God’s prophetic Word (Jonah 1:17; Matthew 12:40).

2. THE RESURRECTION BRINGS NEW LIFE

Jesus’ victory over death gives believers a new beginning.

a) Raised to Newness of Life (Romans 6:4)
Believers are called to walk in newness of life through Christ’s resurrection.

b) Victory Over Death (1 Corinthians 15:54-55)
Death is swallowed up in victory through Jesus.

c) Living Hope (1 Peter 1:3)
The resurrection gives a living hope that sustains believers.

d) Transformation Power (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Anyone in Christ becomes a new creation, leaving the old behind.

Biblical Example: Lazarus was raised from the dead, demonstrating Christ’s power over death and pointing to the greater resurrection (John 11:43-44).

3. STOP SEEKING LIFE IN DEAD PLACES

Many miss the reality of Christ by holding on to what is lifeless.

a) Misplaced Expectations (Luke 24:5)
The women sought Jesus among the dead, reflecting limited understanding.

b) Leaving the Old Behind (Isaiah 43:18-19)
God calls us to forget former things and embrace the new.

c) Dead Works Cannot Give Life (Hebrews 9:14)
Religious routines without Christ cannot produce spiritual vitality.

d) Focus on the Living Christ (Colossians 3:1-2)
Set your affection on things above, where Christ is.

Biblical Example: Lot’s wife looked back at Sodom and was turned into a pillar of salt, illustrating the danger of clinging to the past (Genesis 19:26).

4. THE RESURRECTION DEMANDS A RESPONSE

The reality of a risen Christ requires action and commitment.

a) Remember His Word (Luke 24:8)
The women remembered His words, leading to understanding and faith.

b) Share the Good News (Matthew 28:7)
The resurrection message must be proclaimed to others.

c) Live in Resurrection Power (Philippians 3:10)
Believers are called to experience the power of His resurrection daily.

d) Walk in Boldness (Acts 4:33)
The apostles preached with great power because of the resurrection.

Biblical Example: The disciples, once fearful, became bold witnesses after encountering the risen Christ (Acts 2:14-32).

CONCLUSION

The question, “Why seek the living among the dead?” is a call to shift our focus from lifeless pursuits to the living Christ. The resurrection is not just an event to celebrate but a reality to live by. It confirms God’s Word, brings new life, and calls us to a higher perspective.

Embrace the risen Christ today. Let go of dead things and step into the life, power, and hope that His resurrection provides. As you do, your life will reflect the victory and glory of the risen Lord.
