INTRODUCTION
God created man to walk in dominion. From the beginning, He gave Adam and Eve authority over all creation. This divine mandate was not just for them but for all believers in Christ. Dominion means ruling, governing, and exercising control over the works of God’s hands. It is not about oppression or arrogance but about executing God's will on earth as His representatives.
However, sin caused man to lose this dominion, making humanity subject to fear, sickness, failure, and oppression. But through Jesus Christ, dominion has been restored. As kingdom citizens, we are called to walk in the authority God has given us, overcoming the forces of darkness and manifesting His glory on earth.
This study will explore what it means to walk in kingdom dominion, how to exercise it in our daily lives, and how to maintain it through faith and obedience to God.
1. UNDERSTANDING KINGDOM DOMINION
Dominion is a divine mandate given to man by God.
a) Dominion is God’s Original Plan for Man
Man was created to rule over creation, not to be ruled by circumstances (Genesis 1:26-28).
b) Dominion is Exercising Authority Over the Earth
We are called to bring God's order and righteousness into the world (Psalm 8:6).
c) Dominion is Walking in Spiritual Authority
As believers, we have authority over the works of darkness (Luke 10:19).
d) Dominion is Our Identity in Christ
Through Christ, we reign in life (Romans 5:17).
e) Biblical Example: Adam’s Initial Dominion
Before the fall, Adam named the animals and exercised control over creation (Genesis 2:19-20).
2. REGAINING DOMINION THROUGH CHRIST
Jesus restored what was lost through Adam’s disobedience.
a) Jesus Came to Restore Dominion
Through His death and resurrection, He defeated Satan (Colossians 2:15).
b) We Are Seated with Christ in Heavenly Places
Our position in Christ gives us victory over the enemy (Ephesians 2:6).
c) The Holy Spirit Empowers Us to Walk in Dominion
The power of the Holy Spirit enables us to rule over sin, sickness, and oppression (Acts 1:8).
d) Dominion is Exercised Through Faith and Obedience
We must believe and act on God's Word to walk in dominion (James 1:22-25).
e) Biblical Example: Jesus’ Authority Over Nature
Jesus calmed the storm, showing His dominion over creation (Mark 4:39).
3. WALKING IN DOMINION OVER SIN AND THE FLESH
Kingdom dominion includes victory over sin and personal struggles.
a) Sin No Longer Has Power Over Us
Through Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin (Romans 6:14).
b) The Flesh Must Be Crucified Daily
We must put to death the desires of the flesh to walk in dominion (Galatians 5:24).
c) Righteousness Strengthens Our Authority
The righteous are as bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1).
d) Renewing the Mind is Key to Dominion
A transformed mind leads to a victorious life (Romans 12:2).
e) Biblical Example: Joseph’s Victory Over Temptation
Joseph refused to sin against God, maintaining his dominion (Genesis 39:9).
4. WALKING IN DOMINION OVER THE ENEMY
The believer has power over demonic forces.
a) We Have Authority Over Satan
Jesus gave us power over all the works of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
b) Spiritual Warfare is Necessary to Maintain Dominion
We must put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-12).
c) Dominion is Exercised Through the Word and Prayer
Speaking God's Word enforces our authority (Matthew 4:4).
d) The Name of Jesus is Our Weapon
Demons bow at the name of Jesus (Philippians 2:10).
e) Biblical Example: Paul Casting Out a Demon
Paul exercised dominion by casting out an evil spirit (Acts 16:18).
5. WALKING IN DOMINION OVER LIFE’S CHALLENGES
Faith in God gives us victory over every situation.
a) We Are More Than Conquerors
Nothing can defeat a believer who walks in faith (Romans 8:37).
b) Dominion Brings Supernatural Provision
God supplies the needs of those who trust Him (Philippians 4:19).
c) Dominion Overcomes Fear and Anxiety
God has not given us a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).
d) Dominion is Walking in Kingdom Boldness
We must boldly take possession of what belongs to us (Joshua 1:3).
e) Biblical Example: David’s Victory Over Goliath
David exercised dominion by defeating Goliath with faith in God (1 Samuel 17:45-50).
CONCLUSION
Walking in kingdom dominion is God's plan for every believer. Dominion is not about controlling people but about exercising the authority given to us through Christ over sin, fear, sickness, demonic forces, and life’s challenges. We must understand our identity in Christ, walk in faith, and take authority over every situation in alignment with God's will.
As we grow in faith, walk in righteousness, and stay connected to God through prayer and His Word, we will continually experience dominion in every aspect of our lives. May the Lord empower us to walk boldly in the dominion He has given us.
