THE GOD WHO OPENS PRISON DOORS

THE GOD WHO OPENS PRISON DOORS

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Acts 12:5-11

Supporting Texts: Isaiah 61:1, Psalm 107:10-16, Revelation 3:7-8, Acts 16:25-26

INTRODUCTION:
Throughout Scripture, God is portrayed as the One who sets captives free and opens doors no man can shut. Life can place men in physical, spiritual, financial, or emotional prisons, but God has the power to break every chain and shatter every limitation. The story of Peter in prison and Paul and Silas in chains shows that divine intervention can override any human restriction.

This message encourages believers to trust God for deliverance, no matter the kind of prison they find themselves in. When God steps in, prison doors open, chains fall off, and destinies are released into liberty.

GOD SEES OUR CHAINS AND RESPONDS TO PRAYER

a) God is not blind to our affliction
God sees every tear and every chain that binds us (Exodus 3:7).

b) Prayer invites divine intervention
The Church prayed without ceasing for Peter, and God answered (Acts 12:5).

c) Prayer activates angelic assistance
God often sends help in response to intercession (Daniel 10:12-13).

d) Divine response comes in unexpected ways
Peter’s deliverance surprised even those who prayed (Acts 12:13–16).

Biblical Example: The deliverance of Peter from Herod's prison (Acts 12:6-11)

NO PRISON DOOR IS TOO STRONG FOR GOD

a) God holds the master key
He opens and no man shuts (Revelation 3:7).

b) Earthly powers cannot restrain heavenly power
Herod had guards, gates, and chains, but they were no match for God (Acts 12:10).

c) Divine power renders every opposition powerless
God's intervention overrides every satanic security system (Isaiah 49:24-25).

d) God's timing for deliverance is always perfect
Peter was rescued the night before his execution (Acts 12:6).

Biblical Example: Earthquake and prison doors opening for Paul and Silas (Acts 16:26)

PRAISE AND FAITH UNLOCK SUPERNATURAL DOORS

a) Praise confuses the enemy
Satan cannot understand how you can praise God in chains (2 Chronicles 20:22).

b) Faith pleases God and provokes miracles
Without faith, it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6).

c) Worship in adversity invites divine intervention
Paul and Silas sang praises in the midnight hour (Acts 16:25).

d) Your atmosphere affects your outcome
Joyful surrender brings divine visitation (Psalm 22:3).

Biblical Example: Paul and Silas praising God in prison (Acts 16:25-26)

DIVINE FREEDOM LEADS TO GREATER IMPACT

a) God frees us to fulfil His purpose
Every deliverance has a purpose attached (Luke 1:74-75).

b) Your testimony will draw others to Christ
The jailer and his household believed through Paul’s prison miracle (Acts 16:31-34).

c) God uses your release to announce His power
Deliverance gives God glory (John 9:3).

d) Freedom is a platform for destiny fulfilment
Peter resumed his apostolic mission immediately after his release (Acts 12:17).

Biblical Example: The jailer and his household saved after Paul's release (Acts 16:30-34)

GOD STILL OPENS PRISON DOORS TODAY

a) Spiritual chains can be broken by God's word
The truth sets captives free (John 8:32).

b) Financial and emotional prisons are no match for divine power
God delights in total deliverance (Isaiah 61:1-3).

c) Demonic strongholds cannot resist the fire of God
The anointing breaks every yoke (Isaiah 10:27).

d) Freedom is part of our inheritance in Christ
Whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).

Biblical Example: Jesus casting out the legion from the man at Gadara (Mark 5:1-15)

CONCLUSION:
God is the One who opens prison doors—whether they are physical or invisible. Just as He delivered Peter, Paul, and Silas, He is still in the business of delivering His children today. No chain is too strong, and no door is too sealed for our miracle-working God.

Put your trust in Him, raise your voice in prayer and praise, and believe that your own prison doors will open. Freedom is your portion in Jesus' name.
