Description: God has the power to lift a man from the lowest point of life and position him among princes for divine purpose.
INTRODUCTION:
The story of Joseph is a remarkable display of God’s sovereign ability to transform a life in a single day. A man imprisoned and forgotten was suddenly remembered, released, and enthroned in the palace. This is not just a story of success, it is a divine pattern of God’s mercy and power at work.
Many people go through seasons where it seems as if they are stuck in a dungeon: spiritually, financially, or emotionally. But when God steps in, the chains of limitation are broken, and divine elevation follows. God’s promotion does not require man’s approval; His timing alone determines when a dungeon experience becomes a stepping stone.
The same God who lifted Joseph is still alive and active today. He is able to translate you from obscurity to prominence, from rejection to recognition, and from pain to purpose. When divine favour locates a man, the story changes completely.
1. GOD REMEMBERS YOU IN YOUR LOWEST PLACE
Even in the dungeon, God never forgets His chosen ones. His eyes are always on those who trust in Him.
a) Divine remembrance — (Genesis 41:9-12)
God uses the least expected persons to announce your name. The butler remembered Joseph at the appointed time.
b) Divine timing — (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
God’s timing is always perfect; He does not arrive late. What seems delayed is divine preparation.
c) Divine mercy — (Romans 9:15-16)
Promotion does not come by effort alone but by the mercy of God that singles a man out.
d) Divine orchestration — (Psalm 37:23)
Every step of your journey, even painful ones, is ordered by the Lord to bring you into your destiny.
Biblical Example: Mephibosheth was forgotten in Lodebar until King David remembered him and brought him to eat continually at the king’s table (2 Samuel 9:1-7).
2. GOD CHANGES YOUR IDENTITY BEFORE YOUR ELEVATION
Before Joseph stood before Pharaoh, he shaved and changed his raiment. God transforms your appearance and mindset for where He is taking you.
a) Transformation of identity — (2 Corinthians 5:17)
God prepares you inwardly before revealing you outwardly.
b) Renewal of the mind — (Romans 12:2)
God cannot place new authority in an old mindset. Renewal is a prerequisite for elevation.
c) Purification before promotion — (Isaiah 48:10)
The fire of affliction refines your character for higher responsibilities.
d) Restoration of dignity — (Isaiah 61:7)
Every shame you endured becomes the platform for double honour.
Biblical Example: Esther was prepared and beautified for a year before appearing before the king (Esther 2:12-17).
3. GOD GIVES YOU WISDOM THAT COMMANDS KINGS
Joseph’s elevation came through divine wisdom. It was not just his dream, but his God-given interpretation that positioned him before Pharaoh.
a) Wisdom from above — (James 3:17)
Divine wisdom carries purity and peace; it distinguishes you from others.
b) Wisdom for governance — (Proverbs 2:6)
Every ruler who governs effectively is endowed with God’s wisdom.
c) Wisdom that attracts favour — (Daniel 1:20)
Daniel and his companions were ten times better than others because of divine wisdom.
d) Wisdom that brings solutions — (Genesis 41:39-40)
Pharaoh recognised Joseph as a man in whom the Spirit of God dwelt, because he had the solution to Egypt’s crisis.
Biblical Example: Solomon’s wisdom made all nations come to hear from him, including the Queen of Sheba (1 Kings 10:1-9).
4. GOD EXALTS YOU TO FULFIL HIS PURPOSE
God’s promotion is never for self-glory but for divine purpose. Joseph’s exaltation preserved nations and fulfilled prophecy.
a) Divine purpose revealed — (Genesis 50:20)
What others meant for evil, God turns to good to accomplish His will.
b) Divine influence — (Matthew 5:14-16)
God positions His people in high places to shine His light among men.
c) Divine authority — (Psalm 75:6-7)
True promotion comes from God alone; He raises one and brings down another.
d) Divine stewardship — (Luke 12:48)
To whom much is given, much is required elevation comes with responsibility.
Biblical Example: Daniel was lifted in Babylon to influence kings and preserve the testimony of Israel (Daniel 6:1-3).
CONCLUSION:
When God decides to lift a man, no dungeon is deep enough to keep him bound. Joseph’s story reveals that every delay, disappointment, and injustice can be divinely used to position you for greatness. God is faithful to fulfil every dream He has placed in your heart.
Therefore, do not despise your present condition; it is the proving ground for your palace manifestation. Stay faithful in the dungeon, and God will surely send for you when the time is right.
