INCREASING CAPACITY FOR ADVANCEMENT

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

"Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left..."

INTRODUCTION:
In life and ministry, stagnation is often the result of limited capacity. God’s plan is for His people to constantly advance, expand, and break new grounds. However, advancement in destiny does not come by mere desire; it is the result of intentional preparation and increased capacity. Just as no one pours new wine into old wineskins, God will not release certain dimensions of increase and breakthrough into a vessel that has not been enlarged or prepared.

To advance in life, career, ministry, or spiritual assignment, we must first be stretched. We must embrace growth, renewal of the mind, spiritual fortification, and character development. These things increase our capacity to manage the weight of glory and responsibility that come with advancement.

The future we step into will always be determined by the level of capacity we build today. You do not rise to your dreams; you grow to them. Enlargement must happen internally before it manifests externally. This message calls you to intentionally enlarge your tent, lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.

1. SPIRITUAL CAPACITY MUST BE ENLARGED
Growth in spiritual depth is essential for sustainable advancement.

a) Intimacy with God is foundational
Without deep communion with God, advancement becomes mere ambition (John 15:5). True progress flows from His presence.

b) A deeper prayer life expands your spiritual stature
Prayer stretches our spiritual muscles and aligns us with divine instruction (Jude 1:20).

c) The Word of God builds spiritual capacity
By feeding daily on God’s Word, we grow strong enough to handle spiritual assignments (Acts 20:32).

d) Fasting and consecration develop spiritual discipline
Discipline deepens your well and increases how much God can entrust to you (Isaiah 58:6–8).

Biblical Example: Jesus in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-14). After forty days of fasting and resisting temptation, His capacity increased, and He returned in the power of the Spirit.

2. MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL CAPACITY IS ESSENTIAL FOR ADVANCEMENT
Without mental and emotional maturity, opportunities will be lost or mismanaged.

a) Renew your mind with God's truth
A transformed mind leads to a transformed life (Romans 12:2).

b) Develop the ability to handle pressure and criticism
Emotional stability helps you maintain focus under adversity (Proverbs 24:10).

c) Build wisdom for decision-making
Advancement requires constant decision-making, and wisdom is the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7).

d) Manage your emotions with maturity
Emotions must be submitted to the Spirit to avoid self-sabotage (Galatians 5:22-23).

Biblical Example: Joseph's emotional maturity in Egypt (Genesis 45:1-15). Despite betrayal, he handled power with forgiveness and wisdom.

3. PHYSICAL AND STRUCTURAL CAPACITY DETERMINES YOUR ROOM FOR MORE
Sometimes, your advancement is limited by your systems and physical structures.

a) Build structures that support growth
God blesses order and systems (Exodus 18:21-23).

b) Prepare room before asking for increase
Like the widow in 2 Kings 4, expansion begins with preparation.

c) Steward your physical health
You need strength and vitality for long-term success (3 John 1:2).

d) Improve your skills and talents
Skill attracts kings and great men (Proverbs 22:29).

Biblical Example: The miraculous draught of fish in Luke 5:4-7. The boat began to sink because the physical capacity was exceeded. More boats had to be called.

4. RELATIONAL CAPACITY OPENS DOORS FOR ADVANCEMENT
God uses people to move us into our next level. The quality of your relationships can determine your speed.

a) Learn to build destiny-enhancing relationships
Association influences elevation (1 Samuel 18:1-5).

b) Honour those God has placed above you
Honour is a ladder for lifting (1 Samuel 2:30).

c) Be teachable and correctable
Growth often comes through mentorship and accountability (Proverbs 9:9).

d) Avoid wrong associations that drain capacity
Bad company corrupts character and aborts destiny (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Biblical Example: Elisha followed Elijah and received a double portion (2 Kings 2:1-15). His connection brought capacity enlargement and generational impact.

5. FINANCIAL CAPACITY MUST BE DEVELOPED TO SUSTAIN ADVANCEMENT
God wants us to prosper, but He also wants us to be able to manage resources responsibly.

a) Embrace kingdom financial principles
Giving, tithing, and stewardship unlock financial grace (Malachi 3:10).

b) Learn financial intelligence and management
Avoid wastage and develop savings and investment habits (Proverbs 21:20).

c) Expect divine provision but prepare for financial discipline
Miracles don’t cancel principles (2 Corinthians 9:8).

d) Use money as a tool, not a master
Money should serve the vision, not derail it (1 Timothy 6:10).

Biblical Example: The feeding of the 5,000 (John 6:5-13). Jesus gathered the fragments after multiplying the loaves—showing prudence even in abundance.

CONCLUSION:
Advancement is not accidental; it is the outcome of intentional preparation and capacity building. The more capacity you develop, the more of God's blessings you can handle. Many times, we are praying for things that we are not yet prepared to carry. God is willing to enlarge you, but you must first enlarge yourself in character, wisdom, strength, and structure.

Don’t settle for smallness when God has destined you to break forth on the right and on the left. The future belongs to those who are prepared. This is your season to stretch—enlarge your tent, lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. Advancement is coming!
