INTRODUCTION:
The presence of God is not just a theological concept; it is the most sacred and life-transforming experience a believer can encounter. In His presence, we find peace, power, guidance, and fullness of joy. Yet, many Christians live far below their spiritual potential because they do not know how to enter or remain in the presence of God. Experiencing the fullness of His presence is not reserved for a few; it is the birthright of every child of God.
To experience God’s presence in its fullness is to walk in unbroken communion with Him. It is to live with a heart that constantly seeks Him, a spirit that longs for Him, and a life that reflects His glory. This experience is not automatic; it requires intentional pursuit, deep surrender, and spiritual sensitivity.
The fullness of God’s presence is not a fleeting feeling or emotional sensation. It is a divine reality where heaven touches earth, where God's nearness becomes our daily atmosphere, and where His voice, power, and glory become our constant companions. This sermon explores the pathways to living in the richness of that presence.
1. CULTIVATE A DEEP HUNGER FOR GOD
a) Desire is the door to divine encounters (Isaiah 55:6)
Only those who earnestly seek God with all their heart will find Him. A casual approach to God limits our ability to experience His fullness. Hunger draws Him closer.
b) Spiritual hunger precedes spiritual filling (Matthew 5:6)
When we are truly desperate for more of God, He responds by pouring out more of Himself. Hunger attracts the outpouring of the Spirit.
c) God reveals Himself to those who long for Him (Psalm 42:1-2)
Just as the deer pants for water, the soul that pants after God will experience His refreshing presence.
d) Lukewarmness limits intimacy with God (Revelation 3:16-20)
Complacency is the enemy of communion. Only a heart on fire will dwell in the fire of His presence.
Biblical Example: Moses longed to see God's glory, and because of that hunger, God showed him His back parts—a deeper dimension than the ordinary (Exodus 33:18-23).
2. LIVE A LIFE OF HOLINESS AND PURITY
a) God's presence dwells in a clean vessel (Psalm 24:3-4)
The holy God cannot coexist with sin. Purity is the prerequisite for access to His holy presence.
b) Sin creates a barrier between us and God (Isaiah 59:1-2)
No matter how much we pray or worship, unconfessed sin separates us from experiencing God's fullness.
c) Sanctification positions us for divine habitation (2 Timothy 2:21)
A sanctified life becomes a vessel that God can fill and use continually.
d) Daily repentance keeps the heart tender before God (1 John 1:9)
By constantly examining ourselves and turning from every defilement, we remain ready to carry God's glory.
Biblical Example: Joseph maintained his purity even in Egypt, and the Lord was with him in every season—because God dwells with the righteous (Genesis 39:2-9).
3. SPEND QUALITY TIME IN THE WORD AND PRAYER
a) The Word of God reveals His nature and presence (John 1:1,14)
The more we study the Word, the more we encounter the presence of the Living Word—Jesus Christ.
b) Prayer creates a direct line of communion with God (Jeremiah 33:3)
Through prayer, our spirit connects with the Spirit of God, and His presence becomes tangible.
c) The secret place is the womb of God's presence (Matthew 6:6)
Time spent alone with God births intimacy and spiritual authority. It is the furnace where we are forged in His presence.
d) Unhurried devotion invites divine habitation (Psalm 91:1)
Dwelling in the secret place requires stillness, focus, and time. It is not rushed prayer, but quality fellowship that attracts His fullness.
Biblical Example: Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray, and as a result, He operated in an uninterrupted flow of God’s presence and power (Luke 5:16).
4. WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH
a) Worship is the highway to God’s throne (John 4:23-24)
True worship is not about music but about spirit-led surrender. It draws God close and enthrones Him in our lives.
b) God inhabits sincere praise (Psalm 22:3)
He does not just visit when we worship—He dwells there. His presence becomes real and manifest where worship is pure.
c) Worship shifts our focus from self to God (Psalm 34:1-5)
As we magnify God, we minimise our challenges and maximise our spiritual awareness.
d) Continuous worship transforms the atmosphere (2 Chronicles 5:13-14)
When we worship in truth and unity, His glory comes down and fills the environment.
Biblical Example: In the temple dedication, as the people worshipped with one voice, the glory of the Lord filled the house like a cloud, making it impossible for the priests to minister (2 Chronicles 5:13-14).
5. OBEY GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY
a) God reveals Himself to the obedient (John 14:21)
Obedience unlocks divine manifestation. When we follow His voice, we experience His nearness.
b) Partial obedience limits God's presence (1 Samuel 15:22-23)
Disobedience breaks alignment with God. He delights in those who do His will fully.
c) God trusts the obedient with greater glory (Genesis 22:16-18)
When Abraham obeyed without hesitation, God revealed deeper covenants and blessings.
d) Obedience is a sign of love and surrender (John 15:14)
The more we yield, the more we experience His presence, because God walks closely with those who walk with Him.
Biblical Example: Abraham obeyed God without knowing the full details, and he became a friend of God who experienced deep encounters (Genesis 22).
CONCLUSION:
Experiencing the fullness of God’s presence is not a mystery reserved for a select few. It is a divine privilege available to every believer who chooses to seek, surrender, and stay in fellowship with God.
