INTRODUCTION:

The word "redeem" means to buy back or to set free by paying a price. Humanity was lost in sin, bound by the curse of the law, and destined for eternal separation from God. However, Jesus came to redeem us with His precious blood.

Redemption is at the heart of the gospel. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has delivered us from the power of sin, broken the chains of bondage, and granted us the right to become children of God.

When Jesus redeems, He does so completely—spiritually, physically, and eternally. Today, we will explore the depth of Christ’s redemption and its significance for our lives.

1. JESUS REDEEMS FROM SIN

Sin enslaved mankind, but Jesus set us free through His sacrifice.

  • a) All have sinned and need redemption (Romans 3:23-24)
Everyone has fallen short, but Jesus provides salvation.
  • b) We are redeemed through His blood (Ephesians 1:7)
His blood cleanses us from all sin.
  • c) The price of redemption was His life (1 Peter 1:18-19)
We were bought with His precious blood, not perishable things.
  • d) Those in Christ are no longer slaves to sin (Romans 6:6-7)
Sin has no dominion over the redeemed.
  • e) Biblical Example: The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:20-24)
He was lost in sin but restored by the love of the Father.

2. JESUS REDEEMS FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW

Every curse is broken in Christ, and we are set free to walk in blessing.

  • a) Jesus became a curse for us (Galatians 3:13)
He took upon Himself what we deserved.
  • b) We are no longer under condemnation (Romans 8:1)
In Christ, we are declared free and justified.
  • c) The law could not save, but Jesus did (Hebrews 7:19)
The old system failed, but Jesus fulfilled the law.
  • d) We have been transferred into the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13-14)
No longer under darkness, but now in God’s kingdom.
  • e) Biblical Example: Israel Delivered from Egypt (Exodus 12:13)
The blood of the lamb redeemed them from destruction.

3. JESUS REDEEMS FROM SICKNESS AND AFFLICTION

Divine redemption includes healing and deliverance from afflictions.

  • a) He bore our sicknesses and diseases (Isaiah 53:5)
    His stripes secured our healing.
  • b) Healing is part of our redemption package (Matthew 8:16-17)
Jesus healed to fulfil His redemptive mission.
  • c) He redeems our lives from destruction (Psalm 103:3-4)
His mercy preserves us from calamity.
  • d) God restores health to the redeemed (Jeremiah 30:17)
No sickness can hold those Christ has redeemed.
  • e) Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25-29)
She was set free from affliction through faith in Jesus.

4. JESUS REDEEMS FROM POVERTY AND LACK

Redemption restores us to God’s provision and abundance.

  • a) Jesus became poor so we could be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9)
He exchanged His riches for our lack.
  • b) God supplies all our needs (Philippians 4:19)
His provision is sufficient for the redeemed.
  • c) The Lord is our Shepherd; we shall not lack (Psalm 23:1)
He ensures we have all we need.
  • d) The blessing of the Lord makes rich (Proverbs 10:22)
True prosperity comes from God’s redemption.
  • e) Biblical Example: The Widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17:12-16)
God redeemed her from lack through divine provision.

5. JESUS REDEEMS FROM ETERNAL DEATH

The greatest redemption is deliverance from eternal separation from God.

  • a) The wages of sin is death, but Jesus gives life (Romans 6:23)
    Redemption secures eternal life.
  • b) Jesus conquered death and the grave (Revelation 1:18)
He holds the keys to life and eternity.
  • c) Those who believe in Him will never perish (John 3:16)
Eternal redemption is secured in Christ.
  • d) He will raise the redeemed on the last day (John 6:40)
    Our redemption includes resurrection power.
  • e) Biblical Example: The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:42-43)
In his last moment, Jesus redeemed him for eternity.

CONCLUSION:

Jesus’ redemption is total. He redeems us from sin, curses, sickness, poverty, and eternal destruction. No matter how lost a person may seem, the power of Christ’s redemption is greater.

If you have received His redemption, live in the freedom He has given you. If you have not, today is the day to surrender to Jesus and let Him redeem you completely.
