YOUR AXE HEAD WILL SWIM AGAIN
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: 2 Kings 6:5-7
"But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed. And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim. Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it."

INTRODUCTION:
The story in 2 Kings 6:5-7 is a powerful illustration of divine restoration. The lost axe head represents lost opportunities, gifts, anointing, joy, and destiny. However, through divine intervention, what was lost was recovered miraculously. In this sermon, we will explore how God can restore whatever you have lost and bring it back to life.
1. IDENTIFYING YOUR LOST AXE HEAD
Before restoration can happen, you must recognize what has been lost.
a) The Loss of Spiritual Passion.
Many people have lost their first love for God and need revival (Revelation 2:4-5).
b) The Loss of Purpose and Vision.
When purpose is lost, life becomes frustrating (Proverbs 29:18).
c) The Loss of Opportunities.
Sometimes, we miss golden opportunities due to mistakes or delays (Ecclesiastes 9:11).
d) The Loss of Joy and Peace.
Depression and anxiety steal the joy of many (Nehemiah 8:10).
e) Biblical Example:
Naomi lost everything in Moab but God restored her joy and future through Ruth (Ruth 4:14-15).
2. THE GOD OF RESTORATION
God specializes in restoring what has been lost.
a) God Restores Wasted Years.
He can redeem lost time and efforts (Joel 2:25-26).
b) God Restores Broken Lives.
No situation is beyond His power to fix (Jeremiah 30:17).
c) God Restores Lost Opportunities.
He gives second chances (Job 14:7-9).
d) God Restores What the Enemy Stole.
The devil comes to steal, but Christ restores abundantly (John 10:10).
e) Biblical Example:
Job lost everything, but God restored him double (Job 42:10).
3. HOW TO RECOVER YOUR LOST AXE HEAD
Divine recovery requires action and faith.
a) Cry Out to God for Help.
The young prophet acknowledged his loss and sought divine intervention (2 Kings 6:5).
b) Locate Where You Lost It.
Identify where you deviated and return to God (Lamentations 3:40).
c) Allow God to Take Over.
The prophet Elisha stepped in, representing God's power at work (Psalm 46:10).
d) Engage in Acts of Faith
Elisha threw a stick into the water, signifying divine intervention through obedience (James 2:17).
e) Biblical Example:
The prodigal son lost everything but was restored when he returned to his father (Luke 15:17-24).
4. MOVING FORWARD AFTER RESTORATION
After God restores, it is important to maintain the blessings.
a) Stay Close to God.
Restoration is sustained by a strong relationship with God (James 4:8).
b) Walk in Obedience.
Obedience to God ensures continuous blessings (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
c) Avoid the Mistakes of the Past.
Learn from past errors to prevent repeated losses (Proverbs 26:11).
d) Keep the Fire of Prayer Burning.
Prayer fortifies restoration against enemy attacks (Luke 18:1).
e) Biblical Example:
David recovered all from the Amalekites and secured his kingdom through obedience and divine direction (1 Samuel 30:8, 18-19).
5. WHEN GOD RESTORES, HE GIVES MORE
God does not only restore, but He blesses beyond expectation.
a) Double Restoration.
God restores more than what was lost (Zechariah 9:12).
b) Joy Follows Restoration.
Restoration turns sorrow into joy (Psalm 126:1-3).
c) New Opportunities Open.
When restoration happens, doors open for greater blessings (Isaiah 43:19).
d) Testimonies Will Follow.
When God restores, He makes your story a testimony (Habakkuk 2:3).
e) Biblical Example:
Joseph lost years in prison but was restored to a greater position in Egypt (Genesis 41:39-41).
CONCLUSION:
No matter what you have lost—be it your passion, opportunities, joy, or destiny—God is able to restore it. Just as the axe head swam again, what seems lost in your life will be restored by divine intervention. Take steps of faith, trust in God, and you will experience a supernatural recovery.
