IF GOD BE FOR US?

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"

INTRODUCTION:
Life is full of battles, oppositions, and challenges, but the greatest assurance a believer can have is the presence of God. Paul, in Romans 8:31, asks a rhetorical question: “If God be for us, who can be against us?” This is not a question of uncertainty but a declaration of confidence. When God is for us, no power of darkness, no adversary, and no circumstance can prevail against us. This sermon explores the meaning and implications of having God on our side.

1. WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR GOD TO BE FOR US?
To have God on our side means to walk in His divine favour, protection, and purpose.

a) It Means Divine Backing
God supports those who trust in Him (Isaiah 41:10).

b) It Means Supernatural Protection
No enemy can prevail against a person under God’s covering (Psalms 91:1-2).

c) It Means Unstoppable Victory
With God on our side, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37).

d) It Means Divine Provision
God takes care of His own (Psalms 23:1).

e) Biblical Example:
God was for David against Goliath, and he won the battle (1 Samuel 17:45-50).

2. WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?
While opposition may arise, it cannot prevail against those whom God supports.

a) Satan and His Agents
The devil constantly fights believers, but he cannot win (1 Peter 5:8-9).

b) Wicked People
Enemies may plot against you, but their plans will fail (Isaiah 54:17).

c) Life’s Challenges
Trials and hardships may come, but they cannot defeat you (John 16:33).

d) Fear and Doubt
If God is for you, fear and doubt must not rule your life (2 Timothy 1:7).

e) Biblical Example:
The three Hebrew boys (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) were thrown into the fire, but God was for them, and they were not harmed (Daniel 3:24-27).

3. HOW CAN WE KNOW THAT GOD IS FOR US?
There are clear signs that God is with His people.

a) His Presence in Our Lives
God promises to never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

b) His Word Confirms It
The Bible assures us of His unfailing support (Deuteronomy 31:8).

c) His Peace in the Midst of Storms
When God is for us, we experience supernatural peace (Philippians 4:7).

d) His Miraculous Interventions
Divine help and breakthroughs are signs of His presence (Psalms 46:1).

e) Biblical Example:
Paul and Silas, despite being in prison, experienced God’s presence and miraculous deliverance (Acts 16:25-26).

4. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOD IS FOR US?
When God is for us, remarkable things take place.

a) No Weapon Formed Against Us Shall Prosper
The enemy’s plans will fail (Isaiah 54:17).

b) Our Enemies Will Stumble and Fall
God fights our battles (Psalms 27:2-3).

c) We Walk in Divine Favour
God’s presence brings favour (Genesis 39:21).

d) Every Challenge Becomes a Testimony
What was meant to destroy us will turn into a testimony (Romans 8:28).

e) Biblical Example:
Joseph faced many challenges, but because God was for him, he became a ruler in Egypt (Genesis 50:20).

5. HOW CAN WE ENSURE THAT GOD IS FOR US?
While God loves everyone, there are conditions to experiencing His favour.

a) By Being Born Again
Only those in Christ can claim this divine assurance (John 3:3).

b) By Walking in Obedience
Disobedience separates people from God (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

c) By Living a Life of Faith
Faith attracts God’s presence (Hebrews 11:6).

d) By Remaining in His Love
Staying connected to God keeps us in His favour (John 15:5-7).

e) Biblical Example:
Daniel remained faithful to God, and he was preserved in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:21-23).

CONCLUSION:
If God be for us, who can be against us? No force in heaven, earth, or hell can prevail against those whom God supports. Our duty is to stay aligned with God through faith, obedience, and righteousness. When God is for us, we are assured of victory, divine provision, supernatural protection, and ultimate success. Therefore, trust in Him completely, and walk in the confidence of His presence.

1. Father, thank You for being on my side.

2. Lord, let every opposition against my destiny be destroyed.

3. I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper.

4. Father, increase my faith in Your power and promises.

5. Every evil plot against my life, scatter by fire in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, surround me with Your divine favour and protection.

7. Every storm in my life, be calmed by the power of God.

8. Father, let me walk in supernatural victory daily.

9. I receive the grace to remain in Your love and obedience.

10. Lord, let my life be a testimony of Your divine presence.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
1. I declare that God is for you; no power shall defeat you!

2. Every opposition against your destiny is crushed in Jesus’ name!

3. You shall walk in divine favour and protection.

4. No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

5. Every challenge in your life will turn into a testimony.

6. Your enemies will stumble and fall before you.

7. You will experience supernatural breakthroughs and open doors.

8. The presence of God will be evident in your life.

9. Your faith will not fail, and your victory is guaranteed.

10. From today, you shall walk in unstoppable divine backing!

May the Lord continually be for you, and may you experience His power, grace, and victory all the days of your life in Jesus' name. Amen!
