INTRODUCTION:
The concept of the Throne of Grace is one of the most profound revelations of God's love in the New Testament. It describes a divine seat of mercy, where believers can boldly approach God through Jesus Christ without fear or condemnation. In ancient times, a throne represented authority, justice, and sometimes dread. But for the believer, God's throne is not one of terror—it is a throne of grace, help, and mercy.

In the Old Testament, only the High Priest could approach the mercy seat once a year with blood. But now, through Jesus Christ, every believer has full-time access to the presence of God. The Throne of Grace is where the guilty are pardoned, the weak are strengthened, the discouraged are lifted, and the hopeless are given direction.

In this sermon, we will explore what the Throne of Grace means, its significance, how to approach it, and the blessings it releases into our lives.

1. THE THRONE OF GRACE IS GOD’S INVITATION TO ACCESS HIS PRESENCE FREELY

God has opened a divine pathway for every believer to meet with Him without shame or fear.

a) We Have Access Through Christ the High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-15)
Jesus is our perfect High Priest who sympathises with our weakness.

b) We Can Approach God Boldly and Confidently (Hebrews 4:16)
No longer do we approach trembling, but with assurance of acceptance.

c) God Desires Intimacy With His Children (Ephesians 2:18)
Through Jesus, we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

d) The Curtain Was Torn to Open the Way (Matthew 27:51)
The barrier between man and God has been permanently removed.

Biblical Example: Esther approaching King Ahasuerus uninvited and finding favour (Esther 5:1-3)—a shadow of how grace makes access possible to the King of kings.

2. THE THRONE OF GRACE IS A PLACE OF MERCY AND FORGIVENESS

At this throne, mercy triumphs over judgment.

a) God Is Rich in Mercy (Ephesians 2:4-5)
His compassion saves even when we don’t deserve it.

b) Mercy Is Renewed Every Morning (Lamentations 3:22-23)
There’s always mercy available at the Throne of Grace.

c) God Forgives and Forgets Our Iniquities (Psalm 103:12)
He removes our sins as far as the east is from the west.

d) There’s No Condemnation for the Forgiven (Romans 8:1)
God does not hold your past against you when you come to Him.

Biblical Example: The prodigal son was welcomed with mercy, not punishment (Luke 15:20-24).

3. THE THRONE OF GRACE IS A PLACE TO RECEIVE HELP IN TIMES OF NEED

We are invited to obtain divine assistance and strength for our journey.

a) Grace Supplies What We Cannot Earn (Romans 5:1-2)
We stand in grace, not because we qualify, but because Christ has qualified us.

b) God Gives Grace to the Humble (James 4:6)
When we acknowledge our need, God responds with help.

c) Help Comes at the Right Time (Hebrews 4:16)
God’s help is never too early or too late—it’s always on time.

d) Grace Empowers Us to Live Victoriously (Titus 2:11-12)
Grace teaches and strengthens us to say “No” to ungodliness.

Biblical Example: Paul received sufficient grace in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

4. THE THRONE OF GRACE IS A PLACE OF INTIMATE FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP

It is not just for requests; it is where we commune with God.

a) God Desires Relationship, Not Rituals (John 4:23-24)
He seeks those who worship in spirit and truth.

b) The Throne Is a Place of Revelation and Instruction (Psalm 25:14)
God shares His secrets with those who sit with Him.

c) Worship Transforms Our Perspective (Isaiah 6:1-5)
When Isaiah saw the Lord, he was broken and cleansed.

d) Fellowship With God Strengthens the Inner Man (Ephesians 3:16-19)
We are renewed in the secret place before the Throne of Grace.

Biblical Example: Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, receiving grace and revelation (Luke 10:38-42).

CONCLUSION:
The Throne of Grace is not a distant or exclusive place. It is the very heart of God, opened to all who believe in Christ Jesus. It is where burdens are lifted, sins are forgiven, strength is renewed, and love is poured out. Through the blood of Jesus, this throne is accessible 24/7, and we are invited to come boldly—not timidly.

Let us therefore make use of this access, daily seeking God’s presence with confidence. In every moment of need—whether spiritual, emotional, financial, or physical—the Throne of Grace is our divine resource for help.
