INTRODUCTION:
The spirit of rising and falling is a frustrating cycle where one begins to make progress, only to suddenly crash or regress. It manifests as inconsistent success, recurring failure after brief victories, or being unable to maintain momentum in life. This spirit robs individuals of stability, growth, and lasting impact.
Many people experience open doors only for them to shut suddenly. They start strong in ministry, business, or relationships, but never finish well. This is often the work of a spiritual force that interrupts, distracts, or sabotages progress—keeping a person in a loop of starting over without ever completing their course.
God’s desire is for His children to go “from glory to glory,” not “from glory to shame.” Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith—not the interrupter. Through deliverance, the cycle of rising and falling can be broken, and the power to finish strong can be released.
1. UNDERSTANDING THE SPIRIT OF RISING AND FALLING
a) It Is a Demonic Cycle of Progress Interrupted by Sudden Failure: It causes people to lose what they gain (Jeremiah 18:10).
b) It Works to Frustrate Purpose and Build Weariness: Progress becomes exhausting (Galatians 5:7).
c) It Is Often Caused by Hidden Strongholds or Ancestral Patterns: Things yet to be dealt with (Ecclesiastes 10:8).
d) It Prevents Permanent Testimonies and Lasting Results: Causing shame after moments of glory (Matthew 13:20-21).
Biblical Example: King Saul rose quickly as Israel’s first king, but due to disobedience and pride, he fell tragically (1 Samuel 15:17-23).
2. SIGNS OF THE SPIRIT OF RISING AND FALLING
a) Success Today, Setback Tomorrow Without Clear Cause: Like a cycle of misfortune (Haggai 1:6-7).
b) Constantly Starting Over Projects, Jobs, or Relationships: With no lasting outcome (Isaiah 65:22-23).
c) Sudden Loss of Favour or Opportunities After Initial Acceptance: Without explanation (Psalm 30:7).
d) Inability to Maintain Spiritual Fire or Consistency: Rising today and falling into sin or lukewarmness tomorrow (Revelation 3:16).
Biblical Example: Samson rose as a mighty judge and deliverer, but his fall came through compromise and lack of discipline (Judges 16:1-21).
3. CAUSES OF RISING AND FALLING SPIRITUALLY AND PHYSICALLY
a) Unconfessed Sin or Iniquity: It gives room to the enemy to afflict (Proverbs 28:13).
b) Pride and Self-Dependence: Leading to downfall (1 Corinthians 10:12).
c) Witchcraft and Evil Monitoring Spirits: Assigned to reverse progress (Psalm 64:4-6).
d) Lack of Spiritual Root or Foundation in the Word: No depth means no lasting success (Matthew 13:6).
Biblical Example: Demas started well with Paul but later fell away due to love for the world (2 Timothy 4:10).
4. DELIVERANCE FROM THE SPIRIT OF RISING AND FALLING
a) Repent and Renounce Every Open Door of Sin or Disobedience: Sin opens the door to affliction (Isaiah 59:1-2).
b) Break Every Ancestral or Evil Pattern Through Prayer and Fasting: Deal with foundational issues (Lamentations 5:7).
c) Invoke the Blood of Jesus to Seal Your Progress: The blood gives lasting victory (Revelation 12:11).
d) Declare Consistency, Stability, and Completion Over Your Life: Your testimony will not be aborted (Philippians 1:6).
Biblical Example: Peter fell by denying Christ, but rose again through repentance and fulfilment of his apostolic destiny (John 21:15-19).
5. MAINTAINING CONSISTENT PROGRESS IN LIFE AND DESTINY
a) Abide in the Presence of God Always: God is the source of stability (Psalm 125:1).
b) Stay Rooted in the Word and in Prayer: Deep roots produce lasting fruits (Colossians 2:6-7).
c) Guard Your Heart from Pride, Sin, and Distractions: These are traps of the enemy (Proverbs 4:23).
d) Surround Yourself With Godly Counsel and Accountability: Stay on track with divine help (Proverbs 11:14).
Biblical Example: Joseph rose and stayed strong despite afflictions because he feared God and held on to his dream (Genesis 39–41).
